I have to agree with Bert though (cue shocking dramatic music) that 2008 really was rather good since there are very few songs left in this list I dislike all that much.

In terms of chart music, 2002 is the worst hands down. Complete and utter low for pop music thanks to the Pop Idol domination and the likes of Atomic Kitten, Blazin' Squad, Ali f***in' G and S Club Juniors with hit singles. Yeuch. :wacko: Sugababes and maybe one or two others basically CARRIED pop music through that drab year. And then R&B was beyond tepid and rock/indie was virtually non-existent in the charts at that time. Just a rubbish year.

 

2008 was kinda fun - some pretty memorable hits, though very random in places.

 

Anyway, I'll vote for Alexandra Burke this time. More chance of going than Basshunter, and she's the second worst there anyway :teresa:

I liked 2008, but there's a very notable lack of hip hop in the year-end top 40. :(

 

There's only American Boy, Dance Wiv Me, Love in This Club, Wearing My Rolex and Live Your Life. I absolutely love 4 of those songs!
