November 22, 201014 yr Author Interesting figures, the top 10 as far as singles go in the UK has definitley changed drastically, i'd be even more curious to know the increase in sales % from 2004/05 vs 2010, seeing as how recentley some acts have had to sell over 30k just to peak at #10 when back in 04/05 thats how much the average #10 single sold in its entire chart life. Unfortunately I have far too little sales info for 2004/05 to do that calculation.
November 22, 201014 yr Author Thanks vidcapper! Could you do this also for 2009 vs 2010? Here you go : Pos % Incr. 1 43.99 2 74.89 3 77.21 4 76.31 5 76.47 6 73.16 7 72.42 8 73.17 9 72.13 10 74.40 15 67.56 20 66.32 30 73.77 40 63.21 50 59.59 75 47.32 100 45.78 125 43.21 150 43.78 175 44.28 200 45.34
November 22, 201014 yr Without. Thanks, that's what I was looking for. So using your figures:- Bleeding Love would have sold 430,000 in its first week and be well on its way to 2 million in total, and Run would have sold approx 250,000 first week and be over a million already.

Did average sales @ #150 drop from 2008->2009 and then increase from 2009->2010?

Could your data do a "sales curve" for Bleeding Love and Run, assuming they had been released in Q4 2009 (say 19 October 2009) and give the total sales to date?

November 22, 201014 yr Sorry, I wasn’t clear  What I meant was:- Bleeding Love had the following sales pattern:- Week Chart Date Position Sales 1 28-Oct-07 1 218,805 2 04-Nov-07 1 158,370 3 11-Nov-07 1 111,978 4 18-Nov-07 1 74,549 5 25-Nov-07 1 57,954 6 02-Dec-07 1 40,530 7 09-Dec-07 1 29,616 8 16-Dec-07 2 27,744 9 23-Dec-07 3 30,897 10 30-Dec-07 2 37,170 11 06-Jan-08 3 17,883 12 13-Jan-08 12 11,268 13 20-Jan-08 17 8,741 14 27-Jan-08 16 7,343 15 03-Feb-08 28 5,668 16 10-Feb-08 33 4,810 And then went:- 37 33 -33 -41 -40 -43 -38 -45 -53 -54 -69 -68 -76 -92 -88 -92 -108 -109 -103 -87 -92 before bobbing around the 100-150 mark ad infinitum. If it had been released on say, 19 October 2009 (i.e. 2 years after its original release date), and using the above sales, chart run, and your sales % uplifts, what would it have sold?
