How funny the second single got their before the first!

I was disappointed that Only Girl hadn't made it to #1 in the US and What's My Name? had. SO pleased! I'm surprised Pink's latest song has become such a massive hit too :o She usually does much better over here chart-wise and Raise Your Glass wasn't even Top 10!

Rihanna did almost something unique when What's My Name reached #1 before its predecessor.. She Loves You by The Beatles was released before I Want to Hold Your Hand but reached #1 after in March 1964.

 

Dr Dre charts first time as lead artist since The Next Episode (2000).

 

Some might think Gwyneth Paltrow is charting for the first time...She is on Hot 100 but had a airplay hit with Huey Lewis in 2000 (Smokey Robinson's hit Cruisin')

Its nowhere near her best song but I really wish Pink go to number one over Rihanna

Wow! It looks like Glee Cast really helped Cee-Lo Green this week! Is that his first week in the top 10? It's been out for ages! :o

 

And it's crazy that Rihanna's second single got #1 before the first one. And 4 #1s in one year! That's absolutely incredible!! I read somewhere she is the first female artist in all time to accomplish this.

 

It's a shame that LTWYL II wasn't available for download, as I reckon that could've got #1 too, due to cherry-picking alone tbh.

 

f*** You had been dropping but the album release first got it to #22 and Glee now into Top 10. Its airplay numbers have been surprisingly bad in the US...not surprising really though if you look at the songs that are being played on pop radio there.

 

Raise Your Glass doesnt really sound like a #1 record, Only Girl on the other hand, on first listen it sounded like a #1! :D

 

Was surprised to see raise your glass at number 2! Woho i wish it had this success in the UK. Its a great song :)

Loving the Hot 100 lately. Lots of movement and variety. It's rare when you can't predict who will be no. 1 next week, but that has been the case recently.

Saying that, they don't go as far as #75 so that would've been missed off anyway. I did think it had 11 weeks on chart even though the run I posted only listed 10

Fantastic for Rihanna 'Only Girl' getting to no. 1, especially considering it's not the typical American sounding track compared to 'What's My Name'. Speaking of 'WMN' I reckon that might climb back up the chart if its airplay increases.

 

Agree with others that overall, the US charts have been great this year.

The US charts have been rubbish this year. But then I've never really liked them since about 2001.

 

By the way, a good site for old US charts is http://www.umdmusic.com/ ... although it's not as user-friendly as some other chart sites, you can still just about get chart run information if you find the date the song entered and then go every week from there :P

Yeah, I could see What's My Name? returning to #1 when its airplay increases. Same with We R Who We R. They both got #1 largely due to their initial downloads, but if they get good airplay, which I suspect they will, they could return there. It could be a long time though. Like imagine Only Girl went to #1 the week it first got to #3. There'd be like a 2 month gap between its runs at #1.
