I listened to this earlier today and it's a great track. With some of the Unknown Pleasures III entries making my chart, Gorillaz have ended up pushed down slightly. I reckon 'Doncamatic' could actually climb next week in my chart. Definitely their best single since 'On Melancholy Hill'.

Indeed. ^_^ When a song spends more than 4 weeks at no. 1 in my chart, that's how much of an impact the song has had on me. The last song to hold at no. 1 in my chart for 5 weeks was 'Fireflies' by Owl City. The longest run at no. 1 in my chart is still equal between Madonna 'Hung Up' and Lady GaGa 'Bad Romance' - both 7 weeks at no. 1 each.

Indeed. Rihanna has completely taken my chart by storm with 'Only Girl' which is easily going to be her most successful solo hit in my chart. Whether it can become as successful as 'Love The Way You Lie' has been is left to be seen. Nicole Scherzinger is no stranger to no. 1 in my chart so it is possible. 'Don't Cha' and 'Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)' were both big #1 hits in my chart. 'Poison' is definitely a strong challanger for that title.

You were right, this really does get boring quickly. I reckon even if Nadine had been signed to a major record lable, the track would plummet down the UK chart.

Exactly. I'm more surprised that this has failed to even go top 40 in the UK. Even Kylie's new single has managed to outsell Duffy to scrape into the top 40 today. :o Then again, Kylie's new single is better imo so it deserves to be higher. As I mentioned above, Duffy should have comeback with a new track that sounds like 'Towers'. I could imagine Duffy singing something similar to this.

32. I told you :P It's probably my most regretted #1 of the year, although that said, it's hanging on by a whisker in my YTD top 40 - might *just* make it. All of my other #1's from 2010 will safely be in there, even Shame :D I'm not ashamed!

1. 'Jai Ho!' was excellent and Pussycat Dolls gave the song a commercial edge. As for 'Poison', I think Tyron hit the nail on the head when he posted that it's like a copycat 'Bad Romance' but I still really like 'Poison'.

 

3. It's a shame you don't have the time now to check out Unknown Pleasures what with university and limited internet access. :( UPIII had a couple of tracks I reckon you'd like including Circada. I suppose Duffy's vocals would be too harsh on this track. I don't quite understand what's happened to Duffy. Her vocals on 'Mercy' and 'Warwick Avenue' were divine. Yet on 'Rain On Your Parade' she had a slight helium infected tone to her voice which I found offputting - that's happened again on this track.

 

32. With a chart run of 02-10-20-32, Nadine is definitely not going to appear in my top 40 of 2010.

'Only Girl' has definitely made a big impact on me. I wasn't sure if Rihanna would end up no. 1 for up to 5 weeks in total and initially thought Take That would topple Rihanna at some point. As it is, Rihanna's track has remained my overall fave over 'The Flood' which is doing great despite not quite getting to no. 1 for me.

 

I've not heard 'Lion In Cages' but 'TKAAOHM' was featured in UPIII which is why that track has charted for me.
