Further to my comment in this week's accompanying e-mail for UKCP 485 and earlier comments

since October, most of you will be aware that UKChartsPlus has suffered a sharp fall in subscriber

numbers and other sales during 2010.  This did slow with our relaunch in July and has recovered

slightly, but not enough.  In view of this, I've had to review UKChartsPlus' performance and it is with

regret that I have to announce an increase to subscription rates, which will take effect from

Tuesday 1st February 2011 (so all renewals from issue 494).

If you would like to continue receiving UKChartsPlus with the "extra" charts, Albums NES and Index

(as you've enjoyed since w/e 10/07/2010), the rates will be:  4 Weekly:  17.50 GBP; Quarterly:

43.75 GBP (or Easy Pay 3 x 14.60 GBP) and Annual:  145 GBP.

I appreciate this appears to be a vast increase and will be difficult to justify for some, so a new

"Express" edition of UKChartsPlus will be available - similar to the former "ChartsPlus", but you will

receive a Top 50 Single Downloads and Top 50 R&B Singles (which is 10 more than before).  YTD

charts will return to Top 75s.  This option will still allow you to receive your all important Top 200

Singles and Albums charts, for the following rates:  4 Weekly:  13 GBP; Quarterly:  36.25 GBP (or

Easy Pay 3 x 12.10 GBP) and Annual 120 GBP.

Clearly, you will continue to receive UKChartsPlus in its current format until expiry of your existing

subscription.  Rest assured that your subscription remains safe until expiry, but if we are unable to

continue for the full duration, then you will receive a pro-rata refund on any unsupplied issues.

The team and myself want to continue bringing UKChartsPlus to you on a long term basis, but of

course this won't be possible if the chart fees cannot be paid.

Will the price of getting back issues be increased too ?

Will the price of getting back issues be increased too ?

You'd have to ask CW about that.

I will continue to subscribe, but my gut feeling is that they'll lose so many subscribers that continuing will be very problematic.

I will continue to subscribe too. Id hate to lose CP as im in the middle of getting all the back issues.

I subscribed a few years ago for 1 year, then stopped as I had other things I had to be doing and didn't have much time to follow music let alone read CP, however I have just subscribed for 4 weeks as a trial, not sure with this new price coming up if I'll continue as I am also saving up for my wedding, however we will see as I really enjoy seeing the other charts and no.s 101-200, amazing some of the songs that are hovering under the top 100!

Will be a tough decision to make :(

I subscribed for a year too but it was one of the first things I had to drop when I bought my new house. I hope C+ continues though, it was a good read and contained so much useful information, I always saw myself coming back to it once finances started to ease

I appreciate that losing subscribers means less money recouped, so they want to try and make more, but I don't think this is the right way to go about it. I'm sure the problem many people have with ChartsPlus is with the price, not a complete lack of interest.

They should try lowering the price, and see if that entices many more people into subscribing, who weren't tempted before. Obviously there's a risk to that, but raising the price is extremely risky too. Theoretically, it's better if 10 people pay out £100 each, rather than 5 people paying £145 each. Obviously I don't know how many subscribe to it, but evidently not enough.

Raising the price is only going to put off their current subscribers, and probably fail to attract any new subscribers. I don't think that's a good solution. I respect that this is what they feel has to be done, but I'm worried.

Will be gutted if ChartsPlus ends.

Personally, for me I would only be interested in the YTD charts from C+ but I dont subsribe cause I know I can get them for nothing on here :kink:

If C+ goes under, then I won't have access to them, myself...
