February 10, 201114 yr #3 Bling - Shine On The beginning is ok, and the orchestra is really nice, but the song as a whole isn't great. Like Lipstick, it's too repetitive. The vocals are all over the place as well. It sounds like something Switzerland would send.
February 10, 201114 yr #4 The Vard Sisters - Send Me An Angel This is really nice. It's very soft and pleasant. This is very Disney! :P But I wouldn't be too heart-broken if this won, which I don't think it will, but I'd be pleased with it. It builds up nicely, and you can't quite figure out where it's going to go. The last push is strong and finishes the song off nicely.
February 10, 201114 yr #5 Nikki Kavanagh - Falling The beginning is strong and very modern. Her voice is very good and the song builds nicely. The chorus is seriously good, and the male backing vocals are a nice touch. Nikki is very confident, and the final moments are ever so Azerbaijan 2010, but a thousand times better. Very confident that this will beat Jedward tomorrow, as the song is way better and she is an excellent live performer. Go Nikki! :D
February 10, 201114 yr Listened to the songs and here's my ranking: 1. Nikki Kavanagh - Falling (This MUST represent Ireland!) :yahoo: 2. The Vard Sisters - Send Me An Angel (I couldn't find a youtube video of the full song, so I'm still going by the preview) 3. Jedward - Lipstick (Does get a bit repetitive.....somewhat overrated) 4. Don Mescall - Talking with Jennifer (It's nice but I wouldn't be mad about it) 5. Bling - Shine On (This MUST NOT represent Ireland!) :puke2: The Chorus is the only mildly nice thing about Shine on, the rest is unbearable to listen to. :puke: Edited February 10, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
February 10, 201114 yr Now I supported Jedward in The X Factor, but I'm not keen on 'Lipstick', and 'Falling' is excellent. Now very please of the 67% jury, fingers crossed they have Nikki in first and the public have her in second (well, first but I don't see that happening ), so that she wins it overall. Would have very good chances of qualifying, how it would do in the final I'm not too sure.
February 10, 201114 yr Nikki must win this. The other four don't even come close especially when currently my 2nd favourite are Jedward :|
February 10, 201114 yr I found this poll on a eurovision site, the results are a bit startling: http://polldaddy.com/poll/4420251/?view=results I suppose the high support for Jedward isn't surprising, but Bling is right on their heels.....while Nikki, Don and The Vard Sisters are absolutely nowhere. I really hope it's not representative....:(
February 10, 201114 yr Bling, what the hell? That would be a terrible entry. Possibly WORSE than Jedward :/
February 10, 201114 yr Bling, what the hell? That would be a terrible entry. Possibly WORSE than Jedward :/ I'd take Jedward before I'd take Bling, goodness....there is something worse than Jedward. :puke2: I'm feeling really bad about tomorrow, the one I want to represent us never does...it's frustrating. (The Irish public vote and me don't see eye to eye on many things) I'll vote for her a few times tomorrow....even though I know she'll (along with the others) get slapped sideways by Jedward in the public vote at least I can try help her get 2nd. She's on last too, which is a great position....as long as the voting doesn't open until after all acts have performed. Ooooh, somebody tell me she's going to win! :( Edited February 10, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
February 10, 201114 yr That poll is a load of arse. Pretty sure whoever made it has adjusted the figures ever so slightly. :P Nikki will blow Bling out of the water, but will come behind Jedward in the public vote. The public's share of points is 36 (or something around that), so even if the twins do win the public vote, they aren't certain to win! If Nikki doesn't win tomorrow then at least we'll win the OGAE Second Chance Contest... :P
February 10, 201114 yr If Ireland doesn't end up sending Nikki.... and then we happen to flop just like every other year. We really can not complain....we bring this on ourselves. :drama: The Irish public enjoy mediocrity. :( That's what it feels like sometimes...
February 10, 201114 yr I heard the songs again today on radio and if nikki doesnt go through it will be criminal, i actually think if nicki goes through ireland will qualify and perform better than last year in the final.
February 11, 201114 yr Nikki's song is amazing! I'll not bother listening to the rest, but this song is really good! With a decent draw in the final, and a dramatic performance with lots of wind, this could do pretty well.
February 11, 201114 yr Odds anyway... Jedward 8/15 Nikki Kavanagh 3/1 Bling 9/2 Vard Sisters 6/1 Don Mescall 8/1
February 11, 201114 yr Yes i completly agree, if she goes through and they do good staging for her and a half decent draw she stands a chance of doing well, im just dreading the possibility she doesnt go through tomorrow night though.
February 11, 201114 yr I sort of feel like I'm getting my hopes up WAY too much. -_- If falling wins it'll be the first Irish entry I could really get behind! (I don't remember The Voice very well since I was five, but if I was older I think I would have supported it a lot) I'm getting this horrible feeling that the jury is going to adore Shine On and it'll win. :puke2:
