'Telephone' is easily the video of the year, followed by 'California Gurls'. 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' doesn't even compare.

Typical Buzzjacker looning over GaGa and Katy -_- The Je Ne Sais Quoi video is where it's AT.

You're not welcome in the Eurovision forum anymore

So, the top 5 albums of the year then;

5. Take That - Progress

Chart Run: 1-1-2-2-1

Not the best of chart run's but hey, it's only been out five weeks and the xmas charts are always by far the most competitive. Don't let it fool you though, I FAR prefer this to The Circus (although it might take a while to beat the opus that is Beautiful World). Launching with the magnificent The Flood, the rest of the album is absolutely and deceptively nothing like that. The uptempo electro of Robbie's Rudebox album can be heard here in the likes of Kidz and the frantic SOS. But this is really a quality comeback album for the now once again five piece - I really didn't expect it to be this good! It seems that they're the band that can do no wrong. Highlights are The Flood, Eight Letters, SOS, Kidz and Wait.

4. Robyn - Body Talk

Chart Run: 4-3-9-9-10-14-10-10-3-9-15-18-OUT-1-1-3-4-5-7-7-8-11-11-13-17-OUT-3-4-6-4-7-7

I've charted the three parts separately during the year, hence the three separate runs, with Body Talk Pt. 2 being my clear favourite, however for the purpose of the EOY chart, I've used the final version, and what an album it is. Taking (mostly) the best tracks from all three parts, Scandi popstar Robyn has managed to incredibly make an album better and more accomplished even than her last! Gorgeous electro ballads, edgy spoken word verses, guest spots from Snoop Dogg and Royksopp, back with Show Me Love songwriter Max Martin again - she just about did everything this year and with this album, and it's literally incredible. Highlights are Dancing On My Own, In My Eyes, Hang With Me, Time Machine, Indestructible, Call Your Girlfriend and Fembot.

3. Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster

Chart Run: 2-1-3-3-3-1-1-4-3-4-6-6-8-6-5-2-3-5-6-7-7-7-9-7-11-13-12-16-15-12-15-19-17-19-20-20-19-17-19-20-19-20-20-20

Finishing at No.3 in my end of 2009 chart with The Fame, it seemed a hard task for Lady Gaga to follow, but my god she followed it in style. The Fame Monster is an absolutely incredible mini-album/Fame add on with seven amazing songs, and Teeth which I like too, just not quite as much. It's hard to say anything new here - what hasn't already been said about it and Gaga. Her brand of commercial pop music is quite revolutionary and this album is a treat. Yes I know it came out in the closing weeks of 2009, but it's defined my 2010 too (particularly having seen her live in February ) and it would be wrong to exclude it! Highlights are Bad Romance, Alejandro, Telephone, Speechless and Dance In The Dark.

2. Leddra Chapman - Telling Tales

Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-3-3-4-8-10-12-15-15-13-16-18-16-20-OUT-17-14-4-9-11-12-10-9-10-12-11-5-9-9-11-13-14-15-16-17-18

So...the runner up, and the album that enriched the first half of 2010 for me. Big thanks to Nick (FNT Nickodonia) for sending Story to BJSC. Rarely do I discover a song from the contest that I not only fall head over heels in love with - but that the love is maintained for months on end, not just the period of the contest. So I decided to download her album and I wasn't disappointed. A distinctive and quirky, but gorgeous voice, Leddra's collection of piano ballads and mid-tempo acoustic strummers really warmed up a cold winter for me during Jan and Feb last year and carried on winning me over right into the summer, right until I grew to LOVE every song on here. She's proved to me once again how hard I can fall in love with the singer/songwriter genre if it's 'just right', so roll on album number two! Highlights though are Story, Summer Song, Edie and Fooling Myself.

1. Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite

Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-2-3-3-5-5-4-5-5-4-5-5-7-9-10-13-13-16-16-18-17-18

After the dreadful Body Language, Kylie returned in 2007 with X, which was great in places and incredibly patchy in others. So as something of a Kylie loon (despite the fact that prior to 2010, she'd never had a #1 single in my chart!), I was still hugely anticipating Aphrodite. And safe to say that All The Lovers suggested that it could be very special indeed. And that it was! First listen I was instantly won over by the glorious melodies, polished disco-pop and slick vocals. This was Kylie back at her solid best, with a full great album. And you can't argue with 15 consecutive weeks in the top five can you! The only minor niggle would be that the glorious Heartstrings was shunned - I would personally have replaced Everything Is Beautiful with it, but I know that the latter's something of a fan favourite so maybe it wouldn't have been a popular choice. Highlights for me are All The Lovers, Get Outta My Way, Aphrodite and Better Than Today but I would rank everything on the album (save for Everything Is Beautiful) as an 8.5/10 and above - seriously great collection.

Into the top 20 singles of the year then, five at a time!

20. Shakira feat Freshlyground - Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)

Chart Run: 13-4-3-1-2-4-7-13

A new Shakira single should never be counted out of making #1 in my chart (although Loca recently stalled at #12!) as the lady has managed 8 chart toppers to date!!! Her official World Cup anthem, Waka Waka (This Time For Africa), which features South African vocal group Freshlyground took a while to grow on me but I truly adored it whilst the competition was on, such a feelgood anthem, and one of the biggest hits of the year in Europe, if not the biggest. Shame it missed the UK top 20 but we have crap taste :(

19. The Saturdays - Higher

Chart Run: 10-8-5-8-11-15-1-1-5-7-14

NOT the 'featuring Flo Rida' version, as I care not for that. However, upon purchasing Headlines it was clear that the immediate standout was the poptastic Higher, rivalling Up as their best single with perfect production and a bouncy memorable chorus. It lingered around my top fifteen for a while before the usual 'Saturdays boost' which has happened to almost all of their singles in my chart and involves a mammoth unexplained climb one week, pushed them fourteen places up to #1 for the very first time!!!

18. Roll Deep feat Jodie Connor - Good Times

Chart Run: 11-7-4-5-3-2-5-9-16

With the first of their two entries in the top 20, 'grime' collective Roll Deep smashed back onto the scene this year with two UK #1's in this and Green Light. I absolutely adored The Avenue back in 2005 - the first Brit rap song I can recall liking actually :o So with the genre suddenly doing well in 2009 and 2010, it made sense for Roll Deep to stage a commercial comeback with their feelgood pop/dance tunes. And Good Times, sounding slightly like DJ Sammy's Heaven, was a perfect relaunch, sending them to #1 in the UK for three weeks!!! I love the chorus, but equally Wiley's verses - great pop song.

17. Cheryl Cole - Promise This

Chart Run: 8-3-2-1-3-7-5-5-10

After the brilliant trio of Fight For This Love, 3 Words and Parachute (yes, really!), I was hoping for big things from Cheryl's new lead single, and it didn't disappoint. Instantly catchy with the French 'alouetta' refrain, a pulsating electropop beat and a great chorus, it stayed in my top ten for nine weeks, peaking at #1 to give Cheryl her first chart topper here after her other singles peaked at #2!

16. Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart

Chart Run: 2-1-1-3-4-6-11-12-16-16-18-OUT-7-11-15

Onto a modern classic from Alicia Keys, this was my Christmas #1 last year and it continued it's run well into 2010. Thankfully it received a UK release in May and got the top ten peak it richly deserved. A glorious song, this is by far my favourite to date from Alicia with an 80's style thumping beat backing her unique breathy vocals giving way to a triumphant chorus. Truly fantastic song!

And the final five before the top ten, four in a row from Sweden, and the final two #2's in the chart, meaning that for the first time in years - all of my top ten reached #1 in my chart :cheer:

15. Sheelah - Psycho

Chart Run: 9-3-3-1-2-5-7-4-13-18

Fomerly two thirds of Swedish girlgroup Caracola, Sheelah scored a #1 in my chart in April with a song which I broke the BJSC winning points record with, Psycho. A rock influenced pop song with a killer chorus and fantastic trashy lyrics, it's rather legendary!

14. Timoteij - Kom

Chart Run: 2-2-1-2-4-7-11-17

Onto another Swedish girlband, possibly not named after the shampoo, pop quartet Timoteij took some influence from Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak with this poptastic but folky single, complete with violin's, accordians and god knows what else. Criminally only finishing 5th in the Melodifestivalen final, but all of the best entries finish there anyway :P Would certainly have outperformed Anna Bergendahl at the contest but oh well...

13. Staygold feat Spank Rock, Lady Tigra and Damien Adore - Backseat

Chart Run: 4-1-1-1-3-5-10-14-17

Swedish producers Spank Rock teamed up with US rappers Spank Rock and Lady Tigra, as well as Salem Al Fakir under the alias Damien Adore, for this Prince influenced electropopfunk jam. 'Get a job done in the parking lot, in the backseat of your car' became quite a fantastic catchline at the beggining of the year and the song showed the diversity of the wonderful Salem, floating around at the same time as the very very different Keep On Walking. There's a live version of this floating around with Robyn no less in place of Lady Tigra!

12. Le Kid - We Should Go Home Together

Chart Run: 18-7-4-6-4-3-2-4-5-6-8-12-14

Managing a fantastic ten weeks inside the top ten, rising Scandipop starlets Le Kid provided one of the more charming pop songs of the year with the Alphabeat like We Should Go Home Together. The catchy and unforgettable chorus is great but it's the fantastic verses and middle 8 that make this song what it is  Managing to be better than all of Mercy Mercy (amazing), Telephone (above average) and Escape (amazing) combined, I'm expecting very big things from this band - and hope that their forthcoming Melodifestivalen entry will be just as special as this!

11. Boyzone - Gave It All Away

Chart Run: 4-2-6-9-13-12-5-4-7-3-3-5-9-16

And just missing the top ten it's Irish boyband Boyzone. Their final single to feature vocals from Stephen Gately, this was recorded in the last couple of years, written by Mika, and released this year as their comeback single to lead the Brother album. It went top ten in the UK twice, managing to leap from #29 to #10 following a TV show!!! I instantly loved it, being the reformed 90's boyband loon that I am, and it quickly peaked at #2 in my chart. It had looked to be dropping away, leaving the top ten relatively quickly, but the cod-reggae beat and corny 'na na na way oh' middle 8 chant continued to win me over and it spent a further seven weeks in the top ten, returning to the top three some weeks later!!! Ranks as the highest non chart topper in my end of year chart, well done boyz!

The top ten features;

3 Male acts

5 Female acts

2 Male/Female acts

10 songs that peaked at #1 in my chart

One artist with two entries

One Eurovision entry

One UK #1 single

Two German #1 singles

All of my current personal chart top 3 :o

I'll reveal all tomorrow or Thursday!

You're not welcome in the Eurovision forum anymore

Fine, I'll just move to escforum.net

Typical Buzzjacker looning over GaGa and Katy -_- The Je Ne Sais Quoi video is where it's AT.

I am a MASSIVE GaGa fan yes, but you seen to be a big fan - seven amazing songs on The Fame Monster? I'd only say five, since I hate 'Speechless', don't really like 'Teeth' and SHICD is just good. And you call me the loon -_- OH OH OH, and 'Teenage Dream' is only 8th in my albums of 2010! :P

I just don't see what's special about the 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' video, and the other two are easily my favourite two videos of the year.

77. I still really like it but it dropped quite rapidly down my YTD chart throughout the year...

76. Agreed, they were mad to leave this one off imo, it really got me quite excited for the album after the lacklustre singles!

74. Definitely, it's had a long shelf life for me, one of the few ESC 2010 entries I'll still play every so often, really feel good song

73. It's incredibly Ronan esque, could have easily been the follow up to Life Is A Rollercoaster

72. I agree with that, but it's definitely 4th in terms of their MF entries for me behind (in descending order) Stay The Night, Alcastar and Not A Sinner, Nor A Saint

68. Really!?! I like this one a lot, really love the arrangement. I do watch Glee when it's on E4 (never online first), so I'm definitely not a 'Gleek', more a casual fan I suppose...

65. All three singles from the first album were excellent imo! She gets far too much flack on BJ...

64. Not that it was hard of course

63. I've really been getting into No Fear Of Heights recently oddly enough, it was used in a film I watched last week and made me appreciate it quite a bit more! But indeed, the album didn't really live up to the bar set by The Flood...

Sorry I've not commented in ages, been rushed off my feet in work resulting in being too tired to do anything when I'm home :drama:

72 - I prefer Headlines to their first two entries, but none of them compare to Stay The Night!

68 - I tihnk I've seen one or two episodes and charting DSB at number 58 or something like that  . I'm not much of a fan at all :(

65 - And in The Countdown :drama: Fight For This Love finished 13th in February and Promise This finished 28th (!) this month

Albums - Top 20 of 2010

1. Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite #1 Decent album, I've not listened to it in a while though. The lead two singles were superb

2. Leddra Chapman - Telling Tales #1 I was surprised that I loved this, she deserved more success with it

8. Lena Meyer-Landrut - My Cassette Player #1 Not an album I fell in love with really, there were 4 or 5 good tracks though

10. Ellie Goulding - Bright Lights #1 I thought this might be a bit higher in your chart, one of two truly worthwhile repackaged albums - the other being The Fame Monster

11. Diana Vickers - Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree #1 I have ordered this one as it's finally less than £5 in the HMV sale  . Looking forward to getting it!

12. Elin Lanto - Love Made Me Do It #1 Excellent album, some truly baffling lyrics, but very strong nonetheless. I was disappointed that a couple of tracks were missing from it, like Discotheque, Speak N Spell and Money

17. Hurts - Happiness #1 One of the best UK albums this year, there haven't been many!

19. Marina & The Diamonds – The Family Jewels #1 Superb debut, shame she didn't sell as well as she deserved to

Singles - 21-100 of 2010

21. Caro Emerald - A Night Like This #2 Love this, and love her album too! Hope she takes off here next year!

22. A1 - Don’t Wanna Lose You Again #1 (for 2 weeks) I quite like this one, but it wasn't my favourite in MGP

27. Zowie - Broken Machine #2 I finally got a high quality mp3 of the video version this week which has helped it leap back into my chart and into the top 10. Another song that could be big here next year

28. Niamh Kavanagh - It’s For You #3 She deserved a better result in the contest :(

30. Edward Maya feat Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love #2 One of my favourite dance songs of the year, a real grower

33. Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life #3 I was shocked she couldn't make it to the final, such a shame :(

35. Tom Dice - Me & My Guitar #2 I think we could be seeing a lot of similar entries in next year's contest after his decent result

36. Hera Björk - Je Ne Sais Quoi#6   You know how much I adore the song and the video!

45. Safura – Drip Drop #4 I loved the fact she flopped - good song, but it would have been awful if it had won!

49. Elin Lanto – Funeral #3 Shame she never released this as a single - one of the highlights of a strong album

50. Ellie Goulding – Your Song #4 A brilliant way to revive her career, she was looking dodgy success wise before this song came along! Really lovely tune

55. Lena Meyer-Landrut feat Ellie Goulding – Not Following #3 Your mix of this was amazing!

11. Boyzone - Gave It All Away

Chart Run: 4-2-6-9-13-12-5-4-7-3-3-5-9-16

Did you know that the chorus to this song is almost identical to the one for 'Radio' by Teenage Fanclub?

I feel that you may not have detected some of the sarcasm in my last few posts :P But Je Ne Sais Quoi is hilarious in a ridiculously cheap and tacky way!

Not great for Cheryl in The Countdown, what does everyone have against her :( Sure her voice isn't amazing but it works on the music that she sings. Imagine Leona oversinging Promise This - wouldn't work at all!

Agreed about Aphrodite, Telling Tales and Bright Lights  Indeed, great singles and albums from the UK really have been thin on the ground this year :(

27. Oh cool, great to here! Glad you're liking it even more now!

28. Agreed, bottom five was a complete disaster for such a great song!

35. You could be right, I'm hoping for more contemporary pop to follow Lena's example myself!

36. Yep indeed, she did well to hang on top 40 of the year but it's such a great song, I really should have charted it top five one week  Funnily enough, Euroband and Yohanna also finished in the 31-40 section of my EOY chart the previous two years

45. Oh I agree, I really like the song but it wouldn't have been a particularly inspiring winner...

49. Agreed, it SCREAMED single!

55. Thanks  I actually prefer it to Lena's album version, the Ellie vocals give it more of an oomph. But I'm biased :P

Did you know that the chorus to this song is almost identical to the one for 'Radio' by Teenage Fanclub?

I didn't! But I trust your judgement so I'll youtube that song and report back (when my internet stop's crawling along at snail's pace at least)

10. Leddra Chapman - Story

Chart Run: 2-2-1-3-2-4-4-8-14

Kicking off the top ten of the year then is quirky English singer Anna Leddra-Chapman with the wonderful Story. Originally released in late 2009, it was brought to my attention through BJSC. It's the only ever BJSC 'discovery' that's topped my chart, so thanks to Nick for that! A seriously great singer songwriter folky pop song, I was beginning to lose faith in the genre but Leddra definitely showed that there are still gems out there, they just need searching out!

9. Kylie Minogue - Get Outta My Way

Chart Run: 3-2-4-4-7-10-11-12-10-9-1-3-4-6-11

Kylie's second single of 2010, Get Outta My Way, was classic 'post 2000 disco-pop Kylie', the type of song that she typicaly releases as her second single after a more risky lead. Definitely better than the more throwaway Wow (which I also loved), it was something of a sad flop for Kylie in the UK, peaking only at #12 and dropping away quickly. Perhaps the UK are bored of that Kylie sound but I'm most certainly not. One of the highlights of the pop genre for me this year, ridiculously catchy.

8. Tove Styrke - White Light Moment

Chart Run: 3-2-3-2-3-1-1

Swedish star Tove placed 3rd in their Idols competition last year, but as I don't watch it I had no idea of her existence until Million Pieces was brought to my attention in the summer. A fun quirky song, it showed that she had potential to be good, but nothing more. But then THIS came along. An utterly joyous piece of classy electro Scandipop, rivalling that of somebody she will inevitably be compared to - Robyn. Stunning production, great verses and a brilliant chorus, it just has an air of 'joyous and glorious' about it and is my xmas #1 for this year, and definitely worthy of a place in my top ten of 2010!

7. Rihanna feat Drake - What's My Name

Chart Run: 8-3-2-3-5-3-1-2-2

Rihanna's somebody who has grown and grown on me over the years, and I thought she'd peaked with Disturbia personally. Upon hearing her new dance pop angle with Only Girl (In The World), I liked it but it lacked the attitude that makes Rihanna singles SO special for me. Thankfully this was rectified when I heard the brilliant What's My Name. To steal Jark's initial opinion, it's like Te Amo done right. I don't agree with certain others that Drake ruins it, I really think his verse is great, and helps to make it what it is. But the chorus and 'oh na na, what's my name' hook are truly great. This is now my favourite single of hers, hope it can get to #1 in the UK in the new year, it took long enough to reach the top of mine! :P

6. Salem Al Fakir - Keep On Walking

Chart Run: 5-2-3-1-2-1-1-5-8-10-12-16

And just missing out on the top five is critically acclaimed Swedish indie/pop singer Salem Al Fakir. Famous (but not 'superstar status') in Sweden beforehand with a #1 album to his name already, he'd already charted for me last year with the excellent Astronaut. Upon learning that he was to take part in Melodifestivalen, I was quite surprised but also intrigued to see what he'd bring to the table. Safe to say I wasn't expecting it to be quite this good. An instant anthemic chorus that you feel like you've heard somewhere before, but not in the typical MF entry mould, he definitely stood right out and brought some real quality to the table. But as is usually the case, the quality entries finish second and the schlager (or in this year's bizarre case a mellow ballad by a girl with an acquired taste of a voice) wins and goes on to Eurovision. It's a real shame that Salem didn't make it as I genuinely believe that he could have at least given Sweden a mid-table, and certainly wouldn't have let them slip out of the final for the first time ever!

Are we getting the top 5 all in one post? I'm on the edge on my seat now

I think I'll do No.5 and No.4 first...

5. Roll Deep - Green Light

Chart Run: 18-10-5-3-1-1-1-3-1-3-4-7-11-20

After the fantastic party anthem and UK #1 that was Good Times, I didn't hold out any high hopes of them being capable of bettering it. But fast forward a few months and I first heard Green Light. WHAT A BASSLINE the boy racer part of my brain thought. The euphoric chorus and the hilariously chavtastic verses such as 'skirts a bit high above the knee but I know that twinkle in her eye is for me' all made it amazing. Each week it leapt steadily up my chart before hitting the #1 spot for three weeks. But just when it looked as if I was over it, back it went to #1, and in it went at UK #1! And ok it didn't hang around for very long but it was at least on the merit of the song alone and not just off the back of the success of Good Times - look at the mega flop of Take Control

4. Stromae - Alors On Danse

18-12-9-8-9-13-17-OUT-19-12-OUT-18-14-15-3-6-1-2-1-2-2-2-6-8-12

Onto the highest charting foreign language song here then. Belgian dance artist Stromae caused a sensation with the song he made as part of a 'how to write a hit record' programme. It went viral and smashed in at #1 in almost every European country - naturally causing little fuss here and peaking at #25. But hey, it was played on Radio 1 regularly and spent a good few weeks in the top 40 - not bad for a French language song! I liked it a lot first listen but it took a really long time for me to become obsessed with it. It wormed its way into my consciousness and wouldn't leave though, eventually becoming a later summer anthem for me. Just about everything happened in it's tryly bizarre chart run

Looks like Theo was right with the Top 3 :kink:

3. Take That - The Flood

Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-4-3

Robbie leaves Take That - he's massive, they're not (as solo artists at least). Take That reform whilst Robbie's career wanes - they're massive again. He becomes slightly more popular again whilst they're still huge and the biggest band in the country by far. He rejoins the band making them a force so unbelivably huge that it couldn't have been imagined! But what about the music!?! The last single they had as a five piece was the theatrical Never Forget, and before that the classic Back For Good. Since then Take That have had classics such as Patience, Shine and the incredible Rule The World. But back they came as a five piece, and to me at least, they didn't disappoint! The Flood is obviously a vehicle for Robbie, showing his return in style and sounding great on the verses. But then Gary comes in with a typically excellent bridge before they all launch into the anthemic chorus. The production is slick and polished - not a mile away from the likes of the material on Take That's last two albums, but with a subtle electro pulse running throughout. Yet again one of their best and they really never fail to disappoint - quality control is definitely something that they are aware of! After a bit of a crappy chart run to start off with in the UK, the 2nd X Factor performance seems to have picked it up again and it's maintaining it's position and will hopefully cement itself as one of their modern classics. Boyband pop at its absolute best. Boyzone and A1, you're great but you can't compete with the best!

Looks like Theo was right with the Top 3 :kink:

He was! But Take That only edged in at the last minute actually, I was sad to push Stromae out but ultimately I do prefer The Flood so it had to be done! The top two are miles ahead though!

Poor Stromae!

And number two is miles behind the number one i presume too :kink:

I could've lived with TT beating Queen Lena, but I'm just not keen on 'All The Lovers'. But I saw TT as the bigger competition, so I don't know how it'll go now
