Melissa Auf Der Mauer -- Meet Me On The Darkside

The 2nd single from the album Out Of Our Minds by former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist. She has quietly been creating some excellent stuff out of the limelight. An Autumn favourite for me.

Biffy Clyro -- Many Of Horror

Yep, even Matt Cardle couldn't ruin this for me despite a valiant effort. Featuring a wonderfully valiant and fragile vocal this is my 2nd favourite track by them and their best for me this year.

Futureheads -- Heartbeat Song

A band who are slowly turning into one of my favourite singles acts. Despite a promising first album and awful second they seem to have finally found their niche. One day they may just make a classic album in the vein of Buzzcocks or The Wedding Present.

Interpol -- Barricade

Not a strong lead single for them by any means but after the initial disappointment this really grew on me to become a favourite from this year. The album still leaves me a tad cold though.

Manic Street Preachers -- Some Kind Of Nothingness

I guess their presence here was inevitable really. After the horror that was It's Not War (Just the End Of Love) and the hugely disappointing album Postcards From A young Man I thought I was done with the Manics but this crept on me. Something that appears to have happened a lot this year. It's a decent tune and far from their best but it's Ian McCulloch who really brings this track alive such is my love of his voice. Still haven't bought the album though.

The Jim Jones Revue -- High Horse

Heard this first on 6music and my ears pricked up immediately. Very much in the style of John Spencer Blues Explosion meets Jerry lee Lewis. Gold old fashioned Garage Rock N Roll that you just don't get much these days. Didn't make the connection with Thee Hypnotics for ages but I saw them live in 1990 and they were great.

brilliant band, although i disagree on the singles thing, i think their non-singles from The Chaos are better, and same with TINTW. speaking of which, I just brought tickets to see them for the 5th time.

Some fantastic stuff in here, great to see Cee-Lo, the Futureheads, Vampire Weekend and Blood Red Shoes featuring. Zola Jesus is good too, downloaded her album last week and I do like it. I found 'Barricade' to be quite disappointing though, a great shame as I've always loved Interpol. :(

Thanks for the comments guys. Maybe I should give The Chaos another listen.

I found Barricade disappointing at first but it won me round in the end and I was rsther surprised by that.

The Vaccines -- Wreckin' Bar (Ra, Ra, Ra)

One of the acts to look out for in 2011. n fact new singkle Post Break-Up Sex is already being adored in my house. Very Ramones influenced and for me that's never good. They've also been compared to The Strokes but I'm not so convinced by that. Although hopefully they can inspire an Indie resurgence.

Band Of Skulls -- Fires

Technically a re-release but it was my first time for this and possibly my favourite video of the year. I'm surprised this band hasn't done much better and remain overlooked by the wider public

The Cribs -- Housewife

This standalone singkle sneaked out via iTunes earlier in the year and quickly became one of my favourites of theirs. Another band who release consistently good singles and this is no exception. Great video too

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club -- Conscience Killer

Back with a vengeance and back on form these guys delivered their best album since Howl and this was a highlight for me. The 2nd single from the album it sounded once again in debt to the Jesus And Mary Chain but that's their signature sound really

The Vaselines -- Sex With An X

20 years ago they split up and finally after years of rumours they returned sounding exactly the same as they did back then. One of Kurt Cobain's favourite bands (they wrote Molly's Lips) and a very welcome return.

Wasnt very keen on Housewife by The Cribs, probaly my least favourite single of theres. wasnt keen on the whole last album either tbh.

Whatever they do they'll never top You're Gonna Lose Us for me

Zola Jesus! :o

Will we be getting an update on this? (I can say this now I've finally continued mine a bit :D )
