After taking part in "Unser Star für Oslo" (Our Star for Oslo) back in March 2010, Lena won the contest to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. 'Satellite' went onto winning this years Eurovision Song Contest with 246 points.

The first of two appearances for Shakira, 'Loca' finishes at #24 in the HET30 Best of 2010. This track is still performing well in several European countries and looks set to continue performing well into 2011. There are two versions of 'Loca'; the Spanish version featuring El Canta and the English language version featuring Dizzee Rascal. As with 'She Wolf' and 'Loba' in 2009, both versions of 'Loca' have been amalgamated into one chart entry.

'Satellite' did very well - it was already charting in Germany, Austria and Switzerland prior to Eurovision. Then after Lena won, the track was released in other European countries. It peaked at #2 in the HET30 the weekend after Eurovision. ;)

 

Oh, and yes it really did peak at no. 2 in Ireland although iirc, it entered at no. 2 and plummeted down to no. 10 the following week.

 

'Fairytale' by Alexander Rybak finished at no. 21 in the HET30 of 2009 although maybe somewhat interestingly, Lena collected more points yet ended up with a lower chart position for 2010.

 

:lol: The number times I've been asked about Australia, New Zealand and Canada. :P The reason being when I started compiling the HET30 in January 2001 (because I was bored one morning, genuine truth!!! :lol: ) I got the charts off MTV teletext. Back then MTV published all the top 10 singles charts from 25 different countries - including Australia, New Zealand and Canada. I used a points system of 10 points = #1, 9 points = #2 etc... for all 25 charts. Then I put the tracks in accending order where the track with the most points was #1 overall. That's how the HET30 was born. I called it "European Top 30" as that's what it said on MTV teletext; European Charts. :P
