Robbie Williams puts a spanner in Take That reunion tour by shunning “silly” dance routines that made them famous

WHEN Take That hit the comeback trail those high energy dance routines of old may lack a certain something – because Robbie Williams will be sitting them out...

Rob, 36, reckons the fancy moves that were such a hit with fans now look “silly”.

So Take That’s promised “feast for the imagination” when they return as a fivepiece for their first tour in 16 years, threatens to end up more of a picnic

Robbie said: “We could do the dance routines we did first time around, but with this tour it’s bound to look silly, isn’t it?”

I knew it wouldn’t take long for the ego to land. Still, at least that rules out Robbie’s ridiculous running man dance for Rudebox.

As the youngster of the group, his decision is bound to hit a bum note with Howard Donald, 42, and Jason Orange, 40, who plan on doing their trademark head-spins and break-dancing.

These days even 39-year-old Gary Barlow – who was excused from dancing duties the first time round because he was singing and playing the piano – wiggles his hips. On their amazing Circus tour two years ago, Gary took part in complex dance routines with the rest. So maybe he could make like Anton Du Beke and fling Robbie around the dancefloor like Ann Widdecombe...

A source tells me: “Rob’s put a dampener on things with this attitude. Fans want the tour to be like the good old days. Fair enough they might not be able to do all the back-breaking routines, but a wave and a cheesy grin alone just won’t cut it.”

Perhaps Howard can persuade Robbie to change his mind. He has said: “Now we’re all back together I know Robbie five times more than I knew him then.”

Their mutual love-in continued yesterday when Robbie said of 8 Letters: “I really wanted to impress the lads. I was in a lot of pain because... I love you. I hope it did impress you.”

I’d be more impressed if he’d Take That AND party when he’s out on tour.

Simon Cowell hires Robbie Williams' guru to make Matt Cardle a superstar

Simon Cowell has reportedly enlisted the help of the man who made Robbie Williams a star for his latest X Factor protégé Matt Cardle.

Chris Briggs recently signed to Sony, partner to Cowell's label Syco, and it is now hoped he can help Cardle reach the levels of success usually only reserved for the show's female winners.

A source told The Sun Cowell's decision to bring the pair together was 'canny', adding: 'Simon is aware that while Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke have been huge successes, the blokes who have won the show have fared considerably worse.

'Simon and Chris are determined that Matt will be taken seriously.'

The insider also described Briggs, who hooked Williams up with Angels songwriter Guy Chambers, as 'one of the most gifted individuals in the music business'.

.Despite Cowell's reported concerns, Cardle is already doing better than the previous series' winner Joe McElderry.

McElderry was denied 2009's Christmas number one with his cover of Miley Cyrus' The Climb thanks to an internet campaign which sent Rage Against the Machine's Killing in the Name Of to the top spot.

This weekend saw Cardle claim his third successive week at number one, holding off competition from Rihanna, who he dueted with on The X Factor. ( Jups will be pleased, she fancies him :kink: )

UK music labels expected to make tracks available as soon as they hit radio & about time too

Confirmation is expected to emerge on Monday 17th January 2011 that certain high profile UK labels will soon begin making tracks available for sale as soon as they are released to radio.

This is something that artists have been asking for for some time as many believe the current practice of releasing to radio before retail damages sales, encourages music fans to illegally download tracks and distorts the music charts.

The Featured Artists Coalition ' a group with over 1,500 artists and supporters who collectively campaign for the protection of UK performers' and musicians' rights ' has been pushing for the change. Members include Robbie Williams, Annie Lennox, Radiohead, Kate Nash, Billy Bragg, Fran Healy, Tom Jones, Dave Rowntree from Blur and Sandie Shaw.

The FAC is issuing the statement below.

"We welcome the move by several of the major and independent labels to move to same day retail and airplay single releases. This is a change we have been pushing for for several months. We believe artists will benefit from increased sales, fewer illegal downloads from fans who want to own the music as soon as they hear it, and a more accurate chart which reflects undistorted consumer behaviour."

Thanks to TRWS

It seem he asked the paps to stop taking pics as the flashing lights from the camera were blinding his driver

Ah yes, I too find that very distracting :smoke:

Gary Barlow: Take That is a four piece group

Gary Barlow still views Take That as a four piece band, even though Robbie Williams has rejoined the group.

Robbie confirmed he was reuniting with his bandmates Gary, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange last year, following months of speculation. He has recorded a new album with the group, and they are set to go on tour later this year.

Robbie first left the group in 1995, with Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason deciding to go their separate ways the following year. The four men eventually reunited in 2005, and have achieved huge success since. Gary admits it took time for them to get used to being a four piece group, and he still sees their future that way.

“The interesting thing about that was we didn’t think we could do it as a four,” he revealed. “We had that conversation, ‘Can we do this?’ That was the reason we split. When we got back together, we asked again, ‘Can we do this? Can we?’ We didn’t know. Even moving forward we still see our future as a four piece band in general.”

Gary struggled to be taken seriously as a solo artist when Take That split, and it’s something which still plays on his mind. Reuniting with the group was instrumental in making him feel better about himself. He revealed the moment he realised their comeback single Patience was a hit was life changing.

“I wanted to be doing better stuff than I was doing. It’s very hard when you’re coming from a successful band and then you’re not successful because nobody wants to talk to you or know you in this industry,” he told BBC Radio 2. “But if you love what you do and are passionate eventually you hope to get where you’re going to. I think I wrote some good stuff for people. A lot of music is confidence. Getting back with the band and having our first hit Patience was amazing. Confidence is everything, you can’t quantify it.

“We’re all in a fantastic place, we’re very, very happy. Bands are really difficult, it involves a number of people getting on and feeling a part of it. We’re in a great place with this, everyone’s been involved in every corner of the album. We took a big step forward with the sound and were worried about the fan base but they seemed to love it.”

Gary will kick away him )))

Edited by Ophelia

But what if HE doesn't want to leave? :P

Apparently Gary clarified things after the concert tonight. Rob WANTS to continue his solo career (albums/tours) so obviously TT will continue, in the main, as a foursome - and THAT is their base. However - the door is continually open to him to join in any time he likes on future albums and tours. Also, according to things said after the show, they have been writing more stuff for a Progress special edition later in the year. Gary has reportedly said that they felt that Progress was 'incomplete'. My interpretation of that is that they had other songs that they just wanted to hold back for a 'special edition'.

Well ... they're all at it aren't they?

Robbie Williams sends Gary Barlow naked 40th birthday message telling fans: Take That tour is still on!

Robbie Williams was mysteriously absent from Gary Barlow's star-studded 40th birthday bash but sent a video message to reassure fans about his mental health and insisted that he would still be touring with Take That.

A star-studded audience at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire watched on as Williams' video message was broadcast, appearing to show the star naked with his manhood tucked between his legs. :kink:

He told Barlow: 'I'm really looking forward to seeing you, I miss you.

'And just want to put your mind at ease about the tour - I know you're worried about my mental health. Well, I'm on meds, everything is fine, everything will be really cool. Love you loads,' he added jokingly.

'I'm very, very proud to call you my friend.'

Williams reportedly had commitments in Los Angeles - where he now lives - which kept him from attending the special one-off charity gig, which saw Barlow play songs spanning his 20-year career.

'Basically this is a very extraordinary situation,' he said.

'Take That are a four piece band, we can exist and be successful as a four piece band. We don't know where that is going at the moment. And then we've got Robbie Williams.

'He loves being in the band, and when he gets time off he goes and does his own solo shows. He loves that too.'

Commitments....

He had to feed his doggies :P

Hmmmm. Who'd have thought. A 'Special Edition' of Progress. With a couple of extra songs and perhaps a wee dvd.

Some Gobsh**es I believe

Is that a sign of things to come at the tours I wonder?

I've said many times. People who became TT fans (Mark 2) who were not fans of TT (Mark 1) do not in the main like Robbie. In fact, a goodly number only became fans of TT (Mark 2) as a way of expressing their 'anti-Robbieness'.
