Posted January 4, 201115 yr Hoorah! Finally, the best singer from one of my favourite girl groups gets round to releasing a solo single. And on first listen I absolutely love it, even though it has flop written all over it as these sorts of things tend to in the UK :drama: Oh well, Europe are usually less fickle and may give her a chance seeing as Atomic Kitten were quite big on the continent. It's a mid-tempo song co-written and produced by Toby Gad, who was behind Beyonce's If I Were A Boy and Jim Beanz (Nelly Furtado, Timbaland, Russia's 2008 Eurovision winner :funky:) so she's definitely thrown some money at this project! It's due out in March apparently... Ol5ChYZEmt4
January 4, 201115 yr It's good, if somewhat unspectacular. Been floating around since March 2009 aswell, is it finally getting a push now then? An inevitable #174 SMASH since I really cant see any of the Atomic Kittens being a success now, they've left it too late frankly. Throwing a lot of money at her judging by the producers but even if done by someone who isnt destined to flop it'd still sound horribly dated, and that video just looks like a Scottish Widows advert.

I didn't realise it had been around for so long :o But I've just noticed it on one of the blogs I follow and they've said it's getting pushed for a release early this year. I don't think any of AK were ever going to be solo stars, Liz did well to get a top five hit with Woman In Love! I'm sure they'll reform at some point in the future although I doubt anyone will care :(
January 4, 201115 yr I knew I've heard the song somewhere and suddenly found out it was on my national final back in May last year :) http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...9648&st=500

I'm sure they'll reform at some point in the future although I doubt anyone will care :( I think Natasha could have had a shot at some sort of success had she attempted at it straight after the group split, but 7 years later and I'm not sure what she's expecting. Liz getting a top 5 hit seems remarkable looking back at it now, poor Jenny thought and her forgotten flop only a few months later. Judging by how baddly 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' did a few years back, I think you're right. They still occasionally perform together though dont they? Probably should just stick to that.
January 5, 201115 yr Don't really know what to think of it yet, need more listens. Really doesn't look like her anymore does it :o
January 5, 201115 yr The problem with Atomic Kitten x3 is that they were all too bland and unremarkable (both voice and image-wise) to be successful solo singers. Although to be fair, they were bland and unremarkable even when they were together, too, but somehow that didn't stop the public from lapping it up. Though this was in the dire pop climate of 2001-02 (possibly the worst period for British pop music evah!11) so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised. They were clearly just jumped on due to lack of other visible options, since once Sugababes really established themselves as the #1 girl group they basically disappeared into nothing. Never liked them, in case that didn't seep through blatantly from this post - my least favourite "big" girl group by far :( Pretty boring song too :/ Sounds like something AK would have recorded themselves, which already dates it back at least seven years!
