TT official website has confirmed KIDZ as the secondsingle.

May i say that i am happy as this one is on of the 3 songs i like on Progress?

I wonder if they choose the release datum to go with The Brits? And if they sing The Flood at the Brits i will SCREEEEEAAAAAMMMMMM!

Great choice, best song on the album IMO!

Excellent choice for me. I posted on the Rob pages before ... this song is going to get some extra publicity (hopefully good) if there are more student protests. It'll become an anthem and I'm quite certain it's going to easily get top 3 in the charts. With a good wind behind it ... it could make number 1.

Rock on Robbie ... I must admit ... I was wrong ... I really don't like his solo stuff (OK - apart from one or two guilty pleasures) but the music TT are making since he's rejoined is far more wide-reaching.

Kidz like the flood is a very radio friendly song and it has the sing along factor to it aswell, its a great choice as 2nd single and hopefully will sell reassonably well, personnely the flood is far better but kidz is a good follow up and should help sell a few more thousand copies of the album aswell.

About time aswell they conformed a 2nd single as the flood is in the charts 3 months and avaialble a week or 2 before that aswell.

Where do you think this will peak?

You'll think I'm mad (as for one - I don't know what the competition is going to be like on the week of release) but I think it could make #1. If not - then definitely top 5 - and whatever position it peaks at - it'll stay in the top 40 for quite some time. I really is SUCH a better song than The Flood (which lets face it - could have been any Take That/Robbie Williams song).

Fr me i really like kidz but it isnt a patch on the flood, on saying that they are both very different but both great at the same time. Depending on its competition i think it could peak well but i would be shocked if it went number 1 but i would be delighted if it did, top 5 is very possible and top 10 im hoping is a guarantee. I agree it should have a decent chart run aswell but it certainly wont outsell the flood which again is understandable as usually the lead singles always sell the most. I know im biased towards the flood as i love it but im still happily surprised by how strong it has sold to date.

Im not sure if this was just a typo from Colin Daniels from Digital Spy but he claims and i quote:

A spokesman for Take That said: "They have new single 'Kidz' out on February 13 and they are very happy continuing to promote their current album. They are even writing new material as a five-piece."

now, i like many others thought it was released 28th Feb? have they moved it forward do you think to coincide with the Brit Awards performance as they are opening the show with Kidz and reportedly closing it as well with an unnamed song

only thing is the jls Tinie Tempah tune is out on the 13th as well so who knows whats going on at TT headquarters??

Top 30.

SOS is BY FAR the best track off the album imo, and should have been the second single. :)

I must say, I'm honestly not too keen on Kidz :( It's alright, but SOS is much much much better!
I would say it could the release may possibly be changed to tie in with the brit performance, if true the jls clash wont be much, chances are jls may do beat them but on the other it may not as jls have already 2 weeks in the top 10 as it stands and will have 2 more weeks sales at that point which will weaken sales for the clash.

yes thats what i thought initially, but the jls version is the one that is charting atm but not the version with tinie tempah (even tho he does nothing to change the song) so when that is released the jls teenage girl fanbase will probably just buy the song again judging by thei past discography

im sure it'll break top 10, just not sure where it'll eventually land....should sell 200k tho over a couple of months or so

Jls will have a big fan base purchase but on syaing that their last single love you more has yet to reach sales of 300,000 and it was the offical children in need single. Id be happy if kidz makes the top 10 and any higher would be great, i dont think take that worry too much about how singles perform a now a days as they are mainly an album selling act, the singles are however great for boosting album sales.
  • 2 weeks later...

its a bit strange that everything has gone really quiet regarding Kidz at the moment...no news on the video, single artwork or a B side

its released in under a month so surely a video should have been shot and the single information should have been announced??

i hope they include a B side on this single tho and some form of digital EP otherwise i cant see many casual fans or people buying it which would be a big shame

The last few stake that singles have had no b sides which is disapointing and as they always did b sides with beautiful world singles and i think it really helps boost phyisical sales plus its eomthing extra for fans to get aswell and justifies it more to spend money buying it.

they have tho havent they?

patience - beautiful morning

shine - trouble with me

id wait for life - we all fall down (acoustic)

rule the world - stay together

greatest day - sleepwalking

up all night - 84

said it all - throwing stones

and then the flood just had an instrumental

its the only way take that are going to get fans to buy the single

Take That: 'Kidz'

Released on Sunday, February 27 2011

Take ThatMusicGay SpyThe Robbie Rejoining Effect? Roughly akin to applying 5,000 volts to Take That's testicles - with the good doctor Stuart Price on hand to ensure no nasty repercussions. 'The Flood' was, if you will, a mere bridge, with single number two from Progress better showcasing the album's slightly off-kilter, surprisingly adventurous and very British pop sensibilities.

Beginning with the sound of marching feet, and ending with the wail of police sirens, 'Kidz' is a rabble-rousing glam-disco-pop stomper with ambiguously apocalyptic lyrics and - not inappropriately - one hell of a chorus. Mark breaks out the 'tude like he's Liam Gallagher ("Hey hey hey… what you lookin' at?"), Robbie belts out that chorus like The X Factor never happened, and the rest of the boys "la-la-la" like they're already at Wembley. 'Kidz' won't make the tracklisting of many Mothers' Day comps, but honest to God, Take That haven't been this thrilling since 'Never Forget'.

5 STARS

Along with the Digital Spy 5 star review the new artwork has been released on the official site.....interestingly the release date has been moved forward to the 21 Feb, any ideas why they would have changed it? doesnt look like its going to be the comic relief single then

Out of interest is Kidz being released across Europe as well or is it just UK and Ireland?

Edited by jay727

I dont know what happening with kidz european wise, usually they seem to release different singles in europe to the uk so whether they will stick with that formula this time im not sure.
