I read a few posters commenting on this during the week on iTunes so when it came to checking out the weeks new releases, I was interested in hearing this to see what all the fuss was about. It is fairly decent but personally I wouldn't say it's as amazing as others were claiming. Well, Gwyneth Paltrow has recorded a version of 'f*** You!' with Cee Lo Green. It seems that song will never be safe ever again. :cry:

I wouldn't exactly say it was a battle to the end. For me, 'Rolling In The Deep' was a surefire #1 and no early release of 'Hold It Against Me' was going to change that. However, these two tracks alongside 'Grenade' are easily my most listened to tracks at the moment. For me, this is a really strong top 3. Britney Spears could still climb to no. 1 but at the moment I'm unsure if that will happen. I'm not sure how the "instant release" thing will affect my chart, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Remember, there's still any big European hits I like via HET30 that will also chart without the aid of a UK release, plus any Unknown Pleasures entries I like enough to chart.

2. Considering it's January, imo the year has got off to an incredibly strong and promising start musically with some great comebacks and high sales - hope it continues all year round as 2010 was significantly weaker than 2009 in terms of quality.

16. Not at all badly! Avril's never particularly clicked with me and has never yet had a top ten hit! I guess she reminds me of my final year of high school - Sk8er Boi was so irritating especially with everyone singing it all the time :lol: Complicated has a good melody, but I'm really just not a big fan of her voice.

2. Considering it's January, imo the year has got off to an incredibly strong and promising start musically with some great comebacks and high sales - hope it continues all year round as 2010 was significantly weaker than 2009 in terms of quality.

7. I agree, #4's come as a relative, but very welcome shock actually :o I figured it might be one of those songs that I loved but the general public didn't :lol:

16. Not at all badly! Avril's never particularly clicked with me and has never yet had a top ten hit! I guess she reminds me of my final year of high school - Sk8er Boi was so irritating especially with everyone singing it all the time :lol: Complicated has a good melody, but I'm really just not a big fan of her voice.

2. I have to agree. Let's hope the quality hasn't peaked early and 2011 slowly turns into early 2010 fodder. :( 2009 was a brilliant year overall for music and the majority of great tracks had decent chart success (not like 2010 with all the massive European hits getting stuck between 21-30 -_- ).

 

7. What's more surprising is just how well 'Coming Home' is holding up on iTunes. Looks set to at least be a non mover in this Sunday's chart, or maybe fall one place to #5. I know Diddy-Dirty Money performed on Daybreak on Monday morning so I guess they're in the UK this week promoting the song.

 

16. Avril has also had some tracks that failed to go top 20, and others that failed to even make my top 40. I even thought another really lyric for that Worst Lyrics Contest - from 'Sk8ter Boi' = "he is a boy, she is a girl, cannot make it anymore obvious". Dire!!! :lol:

 

33. 'Loved' is likely to be a one week wonder for me (by which I mean one week in the top 40 rather than yet another track spending one week at no. 1 :P ).

Yeah, like I posted above Adele was a surefire #1 in my chart and even though 'Rolling In The Deep' won't be going to no. 1 in the singles chart, I knew Adele's new album would be a massive seller. I reckon '21' will outsell '19' by the end of 2011 although that's depending on just how well future singles fare when released.

Adele actually fascinated me when I first saw her being interviewed - probably on GMTV as this was back in early 2008. Having heard her singing, her speaking vocie is so Catherine Tate I was AGOG. :o :lol: Still loving 'Rolling In The Deep' - it's been my humming track of the week at work. :lol:

Yeah, the massive European dance hits really are excellent. 'Hello' has done impressively to say it charted at no. 73 a few weeks back. Glad it's become a slow burner and steadily climbed up the chart since then. It was much more instant for me - such a catchy track.

How about Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' which imo is a modern day classic. Then again, I reckon 'Forget You!' will become a well respected single in a few years but I suspect people will forget 'It's Ok' as it's nowhere near as strong as 'FU' was.

Totally agree, in fact I think 'Wonderman' is likely to be Tinie Tempah's biggest hit in my chart. That title currently goes to 'Written In The Stars' which was also the first Tinie track I charted (didn't think 'Pass Out' was much cop and still think 'Frisky' is crap).

01 (--) Adele - Rolling In The Deep (01) [1 wk] Wow, debuting at number one, quite good song :o

 

'Rolling In The Deep' is officially my fave Adele track to date - it's so much better than 'Chasing Pavements' and I thought that was a great song back in January 2008. Adele deserves her place at no. 1 in my chart. I'm impressed to find out that Adele has gone to no. 1 in a few European countries this week. ^_^

I'm afraid so but in saying that, it's only slipped out of the top 10 by one place. I don't see Medina plummeting each week.

Yes, the amount of times I listened to 'Hurricane' last week really did decrease on the previous week. It was also boosted by MTV2 showing a live performance on 'Hurricane' performed at the MTV European Music Awards (where Kanye West ends up performing 'Power' halfway through the song). However, I hardly saw the video last week so overall its airplay decreased.
