February 11, 201114 yr Author I shall continue posting tomorrow. Please feel free to speculate what might be remaining, there's a disticnt lack of one act so far....
February 11, 201114 yr So many excellent songs here: 17 Muse 'Undisclosed Desires' 17 Hot Chip 'I Feel Better' 15 Kele 'Tenderoni' 15 Crystal Castles 'Baptism' 14 Hot Chip 'One Life Stand' 11 Crystal Castles 'Celestica' 09 The Naked and Famous 'Young Blood' 08 Gorillaz 'On Melancholy Hill' The winner should be one of these songs: Arcade Fire - Sprawl II, Arcade Fire - Ready to Start, Crystal Castles ft Robert Smith - Not in Love.
February 12, 201114 yr Awwww, Baptism missed the top 10. Boo, hiss, etc. The popularity of that first Hot Chip single bemuses me somewhat.
February 12, 201114 yr Awwww, Baptism missed the top 10. Boo, hiss, etc. The popularity of that first Hot Chip single bemuses me somewhat. Me too. I just dont get it. It's all out of tune.
February 13, 201114 yr Author Awwww, Baptism missed the top 10. Boo, hiss, etc. The popularity of that first Hot Chip single bemuses me somewhat. Me too. That and 'Tenderoni' are the only songs in the top 40 that I don't like, I think it's by far their poorest single.
February 13, 201114 yr Author 07 Arcade Fire 'The Suburbs' (372 points) 5Euj9f3gdyM Top votes: Space (1st), Steph (3rd), Rich (4th) If other bands had a successful year on here then they've all surely been blown out of the water by Arcade Fire? The most songs nominated, with 5, it's taken until number 7 until we see their first appearance in the countdown, with the albums opener and title track 'The Suburbs', given a single release late in 2010.
February 13, 201114 yr Author 06 Arcade Fire 'Ready to Start' (376 points) 9oI27uSzxNQ Top votes: Mancunian Giraffe (1st), Thomsen (2nd), Rich (2nd), Alin (5th) And immediately after they make their first appearance their second one comes along, this time with second single 'Ready to Start'. If these two have appeared so high it must surely be a given that they've got at least one top 5 entry....?
February 13, 201114 yr Author 05 Arcade Fire 'We Used to Wait' (379 points) _nTjn1yJp0w Top votes: Cremey (2nd), West (5th) What is it they say about buses? Their three singles from 2010 all finish within 7 points of each other, which is quite remarkable. It's not as if their votes came from the same few people either, only two people voted for all three songs, and only 5 people don't vote for any of them.
February 13, 201114 yr Author 04 Caribou 'Odessa' (396 points) aiSa7THgxrI Top vote: SKOB (2nd) A second top 40 entry for Caribou, after 'Jamelia' finished lower down. This was a song which was always going to challenge the higher places of this chart, such an anthem it was for so many people early in 2010.
February 13, 201114 yr Author I shall post the top 3 later! I'm sure it's obvious to everyone what they are, but in what order?
February 13, 201114 yr Don't really get the praise of Arcade Fire but of course I understand that there must be one "the best band in the world right now", a band easy for everyone to like. They're hardly groundbreaking or anything. The most successful acts usually are not. Odessa is absolutely gorgeous.
