Ugh, "Ready to Start" deserved much better. Love it.

I agree. -_-

Arcade Fire are barely half the band they were when they did Funeral - really don't get why they've crossed over so much with this one.

Finally got one of the tracks I voted for in at #8.

One of the oldest tracks in the poll, 'Norway' was the lead single and early leak for Beach House's wonderful 'Teen Dream' album which was released last January. A huge critical favourite, they've transferred that appeal to this poll to confirm a top 3 finish it had for the majority of the voting.

If their three singles were all inside the top 10 it was obvious that this would be challenging for the win. A massive fan favourite, it's a song which Arcade Fire don't do that often, as Regine sings the entire thing. Incredibly anthemic and equally beautiful. I didn't think they'd ever top 'In the Backseat' as a Regine-only song, but they certainly have done. This was always a comfortable second, but never at any point did it look like it could challenge for the win.

01 CRYSTAL CASTLES FT. ROBERT SMITH 'NOT IN LOVE' (570 points)

Top votes: Brett-Butler (2nd), West (2nd), Titty (2nd), Dandy (3rd), Mikey (3rd), Cremey (4th), RabbitFurCoat (4th), Chris (5th), 152 Chris (5th)

Well it had to be, didn't it? If at the beginning of the year someone said that the song of 2010 would be a cover of an 80s hair metal song by an electroinc duo with guest vocals from an 80s star who's not recorded a great deal in recent years then I'd have laughed, I'm sure most of us would. But here we are an it's fully deserving. The original cover was on their second album and didn't seem to generate a great deal of conversation. It was a good song, but not amongst the albums best. Then it was released as a single in November, featuring vocals from Cure frontman and 80s legend Robert Smith. It seemed to work so much better, his vocals add so much more to the song, turning it into one of the best songs of its type and a contender for the best cover version of all time.

Weirdly, this didn't get a single top mark from anyone despite making 9 people's top 5. However, I only put it so low due to its relative newness, 6 weeks after voting I'd definitely put it 1st. This is now definitely my favourite song of 2010.

Criminal! Did I (and everybody else) forget to vote for this?

I didn't forget. It's now my number 1 song of 2010 due to it being a colossal reminder of my current love sick state.

I actually didn't vote for that song. Shame on me now! Although Top 40 would've still been out of reach.

Hope you'll feel better soon. I remember having several songs to remind me of my ex when we broke up. It was hard but I simply avoided listening to them for a while.

Ooh Owen actually did reach the Top 50! :cheer: Song of 2010!
predictable but very deserving top 2.
Young Blood is the only track in the Top 20 that I wouldn't listen to.

Show Me Your Stuff languishing at #104 :o :(

Great top 2, can't really argue with them at all. I've just realised that Spanish Sahara wasn't even nominated, I bet it would have challenged for top 10 too.

You were the only person who voted for it! :o

Agree about Foals too, really surprised they had nothing nominated.

Thanks for the countdown, nearly all my votes were in the last few - including my number 1 and 2. Guess I just don't roll with the rest of you cats...
