February 6, 201114 yr Author Thanks for that :) Have you got any idea whether Eva Cassidy is the most successful singer whose chart career was entirely posthumous?
February 7, 201114 yr Suedehead2 - Eva Cassidy is the most successful Act, to have had their entire UK Chart Career, after their death. However - several other Artists have had more Top 10 Hits, since they died. I've only counted Solo Artists - which is why I've not included Queen's Hits, since 24th November 1991 - when Freddie Mercury died. Jim Reeves - Although he first entered the UK Album Chart on W/E 28th March 1964, he did not have his first Top 10 Album until after his 31st July 1964 death. So - he had all of his 14 Top 10 Albums, after he died. Eva has 'only' had 5 Top 10 Albums, since she died. @@@@@@@@@@@@ 1) ELVIS PRESLEY (Died on 16th August 1977) Top 10 Singles = 23 No.1 Singles = 5 Top 10 Albums = 15 No.1 Albums = 3 @@@@@@@@@@@@ 2) JOHN LENNON (Died on 8th December 1980) Top 10 Singles = 6 No.1 Singles = 3 Top 10 Albums = 5 No.1 Albums = 2 @@@@@@@@@@@@ 3) JIM REEVES (Died on 31st July 1964) Top 10 Singles = 3 No.1 Singles = 1 Top 10 Albums = 14 No.1 Albums = 2 @@@@@@@@@@@@ 4) MICHAEL JACKSON (Died on on June 25th 2009) Top 10 Singles = 3 * No.1 Singles = 0 Top 10 Albums = 10 @ No.1 Albums = 2 * = 1 Featuring Akon @ = 1 with the Jackson 5 @@@@@@@@@@@@ 5) BUDDY HOLLY (Died on February 3rd 1959) Top 10 Singles = 4 No.1 Singles = 1 Top 10 Albums = 9 No.1 Albums = 2 @@@@@@@@@@@@ 6) EVA CASSIDY (Died on November 2nd 1996) Top 10 Singles = 1 * No.1 Singles = 1 * Top 10 Albums = 5 No.1 Albums = 3 * = With Kate Melua @@@@@@@@@@@@ Edited February 7, 201114 yr by zeus555
February 7, 201114 yr Author Thanks for that list. It looks like Jim Reeves is probably Eva Cassidy's closest rival if you change the criterion to an artist with most (rather than all) of their chart career after their death.
