Posted February 13, 201114 yr Who is the the most influential person in music...EVER? Now it has to be one person, so if you want to vote for a band you're going to have to narrow it down to who out of that band is the most influential. I'm going to have to say John Lennon. I've only heard a couple of songs from him as it's not really my style of music, but nearly all my favourite bands list him or The Beatles as their reason for getting into the business.
February 13, 201114 yr Hmmm, difficult. First one that sprang to mind was Hendrix, basically re-invented an instrument.
February 13, 201114 yr Obviously Berry Gordy founder of Motown and the man who set the ball rolling for black acts and music to finally get the recognition and international success they deserved. He launched the careers of Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops, Lionel Ritchie, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Boyz 11 Men, the Debarge Family. I would also add Clive Davies, Aretha Franklin (inspired virtually every female singer of this generation), the true originator of Rock and Roll Chuck Berry and credit to Madonna.
February 13, 201114 yr If you're looking for the most influential person EVER then it would have to be John Lennon/Paul McCartney. So many people refer to them as influences on their music. Otherwise people like Chuck Berry, James Brown, Buddy Holly, Madonna, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, Madonna, Michael Jackson must surely rank VERY high...

February 13, 201114 yr Michael Jackson I've never met anyone who dosen't like his music, no matter what genre there into
February 13, 201114 yr Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury are the likely candidates, of course there are different genres, Jimi Hendrix certainly shaped rock music, and Madonna pretty much shaped female pop there are a lot of others, but those spring to mind Edited February 13, 201114 yr by chart wizard
