I've made a new thread for this seeing as the other odds thread was just two pages of waffle. So, without further ado, here are the first odds from PaddyPower! :w00t:

Germany 4/1

Norway 4/1

Ireland 16/1

United Kingdom 16/1

Could Germany do the double? I've not listened to any of Lena's songs, but I've high hopes for it.

I wonder why Lena's being looked on so favourably, she's no Sheelah :smoke:

I jest, but she won't be winning this year. Taken By A Stranger could pull in a lot of the quirky votes but it's definitely not got enough widespread appeal to win. Same goes for Push Forward, but replace quirky votes with contemporary ballad votes. And Mama Told Me just wouldn't get many votes at all... Those three songs are probably the front runners.

You know, it might be because she won the contest last year that she's being viewed so favourably?

Well yes, but the point he was making was that the people placing these bets clearly haven't heard what material she has on offer...

None of her songs are winners, they're obviously basing the odds on name alone and not the songs themselves...

Yes, exactly...

I really can't see Lena winning again either, her songs are good, but nowhere near as good as Satellite. While it was quirky, it also kind of had that all round appeal which I loved!
Ireland & the UK have the same odds? What is this nonsense? I'll be surprised if 'I Can' is as bad as 'Lipstick', which most likely won't even qualify.

Randomly, William Hill is taking bets on who will represent Austria this year

They have Nadine Beiler at 7/2 favourite followed by the amazing Track$h!ttaz at 4/1 and Leo Aberer at 5/1. Very unusual for them to be taking bets on this!

My problem with Lipstick is that it's actually quite good. OBVIOUSLY Jedward are awful (I've put the instrumental version on my iPod :funky:) but it's a catchy modern pop song that could do a lot better than many people are thinking. Speaking of Poland looks a good each way bet at the moment, LOVING Jestem

I really think it's awful, mainly because of them admittedly but the lyrics are tragic too. The instrumental isn't bad but nothing that I can't hear on any radio station at any time, pretty standard contemporary pop. Still, at least it's contemporary pop and not Pete Waterman style pop :funky:

I still think Poland will struggle to qualify for the final, happens every year with these uptempo female pop/dance type songs in ESC :( I wonder if they'll change it to English or leave it as Jestem?

Not really, Albania seem to make it in every year with them!

This seems like more of a Have Some Fun/Just Get Out Of My Life situation to me...

The difference is that this song actually has a bit of bite to it unlike the latter and presumably won't be drowned in 'Eastern' production in a lame attempt to get Balkan votes like the former!

I loved JGOOML! It was a favourite of mine and one of the only songs I was gutted didn't qualify in 2009 (along with Lovebugs naturally). Have Some Fun was fantastic in its original form, I've not braved the Eurovision mix since watching her perform it in the semi-final. A dire mess.

We'll see, but to me it screams semi-final prop up - is it in the easy semi or the harder one, I haven't been keeping track.

Harder, but looking at it now, not impossible. I probably consider five-ish as auto, + Stella, but Serbia and Croatia aren't even 100% certain.

Serbia are pretty certain I'd say, they need to send a truly dire song (a la 2009) not to qualify.

Iceland are definitely not certains to qualify anymore, so that's a spare space at least!
