Female acts battle for top slot

Source; Music Week

The singles market looks likely to witness a four-way battle of the females for the number one spot this week, with just a few hundred sales separating Shakira, Rihanna, Lily Allen and Christina Aguilera, according to early retail reports.

Leading the crop is Shakira's Hips Don't Lie (Epic), which, if it holds on to the number one position, would see a return to number one after a three-week absence. Christina Aguilera's Ain't No Other Man (RCA) is climbing into the top five after entering at 18 on downloads last week, as is Madonna's Get Together (Warner Bros), who is fighting for a top five placing with Kasabian's Empire (Columbia), released physically, digitally and to radio yesterday.

coome on shakira!!

I bought the bamboo version off i-tunes, and im going to buy the physical copy again in the week, im trying to get as many shakira fans as I can to buy it again, and im asking Xtina fans to wait until next week to buy ANOM for value of money!

That's so cool! I hope she does hold on but I think she'll slip to 2 maybe as the week goes on. ANOM has just overtaken HDL on iTunes so it looks like it might be a bit of a struggle.
is it possible to buy mulitple downloads from i-tunes?

is it possible to buy mulitple downloads from i-tunes?

i think so, as long as it is in different transactions (eg. buy it then pay, then buy it again the pay)

can you believe this? its just amazing so happy for her to do the unthinkable especially since she hasn't done any promo here and no radio support like most of the songs in the top10, even with this against her she is holding firm in the top3 and this week has a chance at #1 again!!

i will doing my part again i'll be buying 2 or 3 singles from hmv this week and i'll give them straight to the oxfam shop

I didn't think you could...but I could be wrong. I know in America you can't. I thought you could do multiple downloads from 1 computer as long as it was on different accounts. I ain't sure though.

What you could do, is download it from iTunes, HMV and Napster. That would definately be 3 sales.

yeah I'll try that, because im not too sure on the download thing. i thought that as long as it wasnt on the same receipt
its great news that she could climb back to number 1 again, everyon eknew the single woul do well if released but i dont think anyone expected such a strong consistent chart run like it has had so afr

good idea, but maybe its best to wait for donating them.. say somebody thinking of buying it would buy it and it wouldnt go towards the charts. maybe in a few weeks? just a suggestion anyway.

Better still find a DJ (maybe a local hospital, school radio station) or Shop or somewhere that plays CD's publically and add it to there collection, those enabling Shakira to be played more to the public.

It'd be great! Now the song is starting to get the deserved airplay, it's possible for the single to hang on more and more weeks into the Top3 (let alone No.1 :cheer: )
How many weeks will it need to be in the top ten to be daniel powter or another long running song because i don't think the song will get deleted any time soon because we are 2 months behind the rest of the world anyway and the new song hasn't been decided or anything :P

thye better not delete it ,it will be on th echart for about 30 weeks i think

i think daniel powter had 12 straight weeks in the top 10
