Do you think we've heard the winner yet? I haven't got a clue who could win, seems fairly open, which I guess is a good thing.

The only long shot winners we have so far imo are Norway and Denmark, if the contest was to be held right at this moment, I think New Tomorrow would take it. I guess Taken By A Stranger just won't appeal to the masses like Satellite did and as much as I love her, poor old Nadine may fall at the semis...

The winner is likely still to come I guess, come on Blue! Give us a great pop song!

I'm thinking it's between Nadine, Eric and Dana International (who we have yet to hear but with a title like 'DING DONG' it's BOUND to be disco-tits).

Dana may not make it out of the Israel NF, Eric's song I can't decide on - is the melody really all that strong on first listen? I love it mainly for the production although the melody has grown after many listens, and Nadine's song is perhaps too old fashioned/Disney to make a huge mark. I really can't see the Eastern bloc going for it whatsoever...

It's between Norway and Finland so far I think. Denmark at a push also, along with Slovenia if they can stage it correctly.

I don't see Slovenia up there at all and it would be a shame if Finland were. I like it a lot but really nowhere near as much as Me & My Guitar, which I was gutted fell down to 6th in the end :( But I can see that it will have a market, and it will almost certainly make the final and get a respectable result for them. I guess Norway doing well hinges on how great the performance comes across, it's certainly an incredibly instant song with potential to smash across Europe as the summer gets into full swing. But it could just as easily fail to translate that well and come mid-table

Do you really think? The rumours say it's produced by David Guetta and she's one of the biggest stars that Israel has - I don't see it NOT making it really. Sweden's incredibly memorable and accessible as a package, and with Nadine, I see the issue but it could still shock - Israel 2005 certainly didn't have the same problem.

Eric will do well for Sweden, but will probably only end up about 7th or 8th I think, especially if he brings along that glass wall rigmarole. The difference between Israel 2005 and Austria 2011 is Israel's song was powerful, but remaining subtle enough and translated well on screen (plus there was that dress! ). I can see Nadine doing more of a Tout De Moi than a Shiri Maimon.

Agreed. I don't know what you're listening to Rich, cos Austria is HORRIBLE :puke2:

Dana International has a HUGE chance, didn't hear the David Guetta rumour but that would be amazing, even more amazing if Love Generation went to ESC for Sweden instead of the horribly overrated Eric. Would also be happy with Linda Bengtzing :kink:

Anyway, back on topic, Rockefeller Street is a FABULOUS winner, and has taken over from Norway as my favourite right now. I don't think we've heard the actual winner either yet, it's kind of Norway or bust I think :kink: Lithuania has the sound of a winner, but I don't know if she'll get enough support (and it's not THAT great).

I didn't realise that! Is she still one of Israel's biggest stars, I know nothing about their culture so have no idea...the last time I saw her was when she popped up in an episode of Beautiful People!

Israel 2005 was incredibly classy, Nadine isn't particularly, more girly and certainly very corny for want of a better word. It's hard to be objecitve about it when it's by far my favourite song right now and I'm looning for her, but I'm trying to play devil's advocate

I can't call how Eric Saade will do at all...winner or fan favourite who falls in the semis? But who knows, maybe the dad-rock contingent will ignore the 50's crap and join forces and send Nicke Borg to ESC instead!

It most certainly isn't, David and Tyron also have it at the top of their rankings so thank god I'm not alone, I thought I was going insane for a few days obsessing over this song when nobody else seemed to care...I guess it's just not your cup of tea, which is fine, but it's definitely mine!

I can't see Eric Saade falling in the semis at ALL. I know I'm slightly biased on this, but seriously - nothing like that has fallen in the semis to date, and Eric's a far stronger and more accessible candidate than the last proper shock, Kate Ryan.

Actually, thinking about it, he'll probably take the 'ESC pop fanboy' vote that Iceland won't be taking in the semis this year, plus any other votes he may gain of course! But I think Ghosty may be right, if it makes the final it will collect a respectable enough amount of points to get Sweden back to a good position but I don't see everyone phoning in 12's for Sweden. It's a very frantic song especially towards the end and the kitchen sink production may leave people feeling like it's all a bit OTT/desperate. It screams fan favourite, but it doesn't scream winner to me. I'm seriously keeping everything crossed for Blue's song - they'll still have a fanbase ready to give them points for any old crap in a number of countries and a great song would practically ensure a top ten as minimum for us.

I'm finding the talk of potential winners quite interesting so far. Certainly could be more wide open this year than it has been for a few years (considering Fairytale and Satellite were miles ahead). My favs so far are Estonia and Denmark, Rockefeller is very instant and I can see it making the top 10 surely?

I quite like the Austrian song also, and I personally hope it gets to the final at least. I personally love Popular but not sure if Europe will vote for it (though I'd imagine it'd get a few votes from several countries in the west). The second Semi is gonna be tough and there WILL be a shock exit, isn't there always

I hope your right about Blue, I wonder why they are leaving it so late to premier it though? Its gonna be one of the last isn't it :o

I wouldn't say Satellite was miles ahead - I mean, in the final result, it certainly was, but the result was only obvious in retrospect. Even the day before everyone was fearing Armenia!

God, you're right on the second semi :o Two of the following will miss out:

Austria

Bosnia

Netherlands

Slovakia

Sweden

Ukraine

Denmark

Estonia

Latvia

Israel

Romania

Slovenia

Austria

Bosnia

Netherlands

Slovakia

Sweden

Ukraine

Denmark

Estonia

Latvia

Israel

Romania

Slovenia

Am I also the only one who doesn't see anything in the Dutch entry?

I have a feeling that it's The Highest Heights ALL OVER AGAIN with me and the Netherlands.

I reckon:

Austria

Bosnia

Netherlands

Slovakia

Sweden

Ukraine

Denmark

Estonia

Latvia

Israel

Romania

Slovenia

Change is BLOODY TERRIBLE, so I hope Denmark (which is more tolerable at least) will take its votes and give Romania a long overdue DNQ.

What are Slovakia even sending? They had a fantastic song last year and did disasterously with it so it would have to be sensational to qualify from this semi!
