February 27, 201114 yr Glad I'm not the only one who despairs at most radio these days. I only listen to the radio for the chart show (not because of Reggie though, I'd listen to the chart show even if Osama bin Laden started presenting it!), and the local BBC radio late show with Trevor Fry is really good although I don't get the chance to listen as often as I'd like. It isn't just the radio though, on the TV on freeview we have two music channels, when they aren't showing adverts (nearly always simultaneously it seems) or american sitcoms/reality series they seem to either have meaningless charts chosen by random celebs or the same old r+b stuff. Without Gaga there'd be no pop on them at all probably. I remember no more than 5 years ago it was nearly always pop videos and they'd have themed archive videos at weekends (eg Irish for St Patricks or Cheesy Europop for Eurovision week or whatever). Maybe now that I'm nearer 30 than 13 I should just stick to Radio 2 and hear Eva Cassidy and the same few 60s/70s tracks all the time? Re the chart show I think the producers must assume that todays teen don't have the concentration span to follow a chart from 40 to 1 anyway so they probably encourage the texts and waffle. To be fair Reggie seems to struggle with reading the texts most of the time too.
