Clare did well to get to no. 23 in the UK charts. 'The Last Dance' was #25 on iTunes last time I checked out (about 30 minutes ago) so I doubt the track is going to suddenly plummet down the charts.

:lol: It's Buzzjack, I'm sure there'll be plenty of postes who won't like 'Rope'. :P Anyways, I think it's a cracking track full on raw energy and guitar hooks all over the place. :D Maybe it'll grow on you. I'm a bit disappointed that it's stalled at #13 on iTunes as of 30 minutes ago. Was hoping it could go top 10 - perhaps the track will stick around for a few weeks. I remember 'The Pretender' had a similar chart experience staying between 21-30 for weeks before suddenly rocketing into the top 10.

Well, when the UK chart is in an excellent condition, then there will be similarities. It's always good when songs you genuinely like perform well in the charts. It's when songs I don't necessarily hate but don't think they're anything special do well in the UK charts that I feel out of touch with the UK public. :lol: Adele's success is actually awe inspiring. '21' has proved that if an album is excellent, it'll sell bucketloads - even at a time when the albums market is in dire straits.

Whilst it's not quite as strong as 'The Flood', it's still a great track. Kudos to Stuart Price - who produced 'Progress' - as the backing track to this song is ace. I think the reason why 'Kidz' has only peaked at #28 so far is simply because there is no music video. If Take That were to shoot a video, I could see this track going top 20 at least. It's a massive improvement on all the singles released from the lukewarm 'The Circus' album.

I didn't actually realise it had been released early - just thought they'd tried to get over 'Now Or Never' really quickly. Still, it's a decent track imo - much more dance/house in style compared to the RnB-lite 'NON'.

I will admit I really like the chorus to 'Moment 4 Life' but sadly the verses in general don't do much for me. It's also far too long (nearly 5 minutes long) to even remotely attempt to keep my attention. It betters the peak of 'Check It Out' (#37) in my chart but only just.

I'm sure that once music video channels start to play this, the track should benefit from a sales boost. How big a boost I can't really predict.

 

Look at Britney 'HIAM' - down to #50 on iTunes, then after the video premier the track has now gone back as high as #31. Then again, I'd say the video to 'Kidz' is more interesting to watch than the video to 'Hold It Against Me'.

Adele's performance of 'Someone Like You' at The Brit Awards 2011 really had had a massive effect on the track. It's grown in popularity so fast and for a single to sell over 100k two weeks in a row is remarkable.

I honestly don't think any other artists has ever achieved two singles both charting in my top 3. Obviously now with the rise of downloads, songs can become massive hits really quickly or really slowing building up momentum. I still love 'Rolling In The Deep' just as much as 'Someone Like You' so Adele will continue to dominate my chart for some time to come.

The music video is...interesting. :P The opening sequence looks interesting but when it gets to the actual song, Lady GaGa looks really weird whilst singing the first verse. It doesn't look anything like her (especially when you consider how she looked in previous videos, it looks like a different woman altogether). The skeleton section of the video is rather odd too. I guess a Lady GaGa wouldn't be a "Lady GaGa" video if it was boring to watch. It's certainly a better video than 'Hold It Against Me' even if, imo, 'HIAM' is the better song.

Take That are the ultimate group. Who would've thought after splitting up in 1996 that they would return in 2006 and become one of the UK's biggest bands of recent years. Their chart success in the UK alone is phenomenal and 'Progress' is a solid pop album.

Me too, I'm really impressed with the fact the album version has now gone to no. 1 on iTunes whilst the Brits version is slipping down. With the Brits performance getting played a fair amount on the music channels, I'd have thought that version would still be the more popular version. Alas, I don't care because all sales are combined and 'Someone Like You' is easily the best UK #1 of 2011 thus far. Yes, I'm still enjoying the album very much. If 'Set Fire To The Rain' is the next single, I think Adele could be on course for 3 consecutive no. 1 singles for me.

Oh Dandy. :( There was you only last week saying how this had grown on you albeit you still thought it was average. I really like 'Price Tag' and the chorus hook keeps popping up in my head at work and I end up humming the tune whilst sat at my desk (when nobody else is around - otherwise that'd be just too weird :D ).

Well, if music videos are supposed to enhance a song then the video to 'Born This Way' has sort of worked. I watched it on Lady GaGa's VEVO channel purely out of curiosity and it really is bizarre viewing. I guess that's what the aim was. However, I'm still doubting whether 'BTW' will managed to climb its way to #1 in the UK.

I've not heard their album but I suspect I'd be very 50/50 with it. Their hits 'End Credits' and 'Let You Go' were small hits for me compared to 'Blind Faith' which I think is ace. The fact it's probably their most radio friendly single to date obviously helps (I'm so commercial :D ).

It's easily a better track compared to 'Raise Your Glass' even though 'Perfect' has only managed to equal the peak of 'RYG' so far. That's purely due to my strong top 6 (all of which I'm easily listening to the most at the moment hence they're all non movers).

First time I heard this, I found it quite underwhelming in a "oh, is that it?" kinda way. However, it's one of those songs that with repeated listens, it starts to click slowly but surely and I like the track a lot more now than I did 3/4 weeks ago when the track first started getting more airplay.

I really love this! It's their best song ever for me (well maybe with Rule The World).

 

I genuinely love the backing track to this. It's got a retro 80s sound about it whilst managing to sound modern in the process. Now that the video (which is actually pretty decent) getting more airplay, the track should climb up iTunes. It deserves a higher peak than #28 considering blandfests like 'Said It All' (#9) peaked a lot higher.

Shoat will be very disappointed if he reads this comment. It's been his personal chart #1 for a few weeks - same with Mikey. However, I personally don't think it's a patch on my top 6 (hence why it didn't enter higher). Still, I do like this song moreso than 'Ain't Nobody' again because it's got that commercial edge that always appeals to me. The track also showcases her soaring vocals in the chorus rather well.

I like both versions but I do think the version Adele performed at the Brits really did strike a chord with the public. If only there was a studio version of 'SLY' performed in that style.

I like 'S&M' and 'Born This Way' both quite a lot actually hence both being top 5 but I agree 'S&M' has the edge for me too. Plus, Rihanna's video is more interesting to watch than Lady GaGa's.

'Happiness' was indeed a great pop track and whilst 'Good Girl' has grown on me a lot, it's still not as good overall as 'Happiness' was.

I still enjoy listening to 'Only Girl' even though it's been around for 4 months. Yet I've already got over 'What's My Name?' althought first time I heard 'WMN', I knew then that I'd get bored of the song more quickly.

'Me & You' is indeed ace but I've really not been that bothered with the song these track cople of weeks hence why it's dropped more quickly. I hardly see the video now on the music channels which means the track is further distanced from my memory. I'd actually say 'Blind Faith' is the best dubstep song of 2011 thus far even if its did peak lower in my chart (stronger top 2), it'll have a healthier chart run. It's showing no signs of getting boring for me yet anyways.
