Something I have said myself Jupiter, they go and see him perform and don't always support what puts him on stage in the first place. :(

Stones Roll By U2 For Top Grossing Tour Ever

November 24, 2006, 12:50 PM ET

Ray Waddell, Nashville

Though they'll surely live to fight another day, U2's brief stint holding the title of top-grossing tour ever is over. That distinction now returns to the Rolling Stones, whose A Bigger Bang tour is now the top-grossing tour in history.

From March 28, 2005, to March 2, 2006, U2's Vertigo tour rang up grosses of more than $333 million. That put U2 ahead of the Stones' $320 million Voodoo Lounge tour of 1994-95, and the band's 10 stadium makeup shows this month will take the total to 121 shows and a gross of about $377 million.

But the Stones' numbers from their global A Bigger Bang tour shatter that mark. Since the fall of 2005, the band has grossed a staggering $437 million and drawn 3.5 million people to 110 shows. In addition, an estimated crowd of 2 million saw the band perform at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro back in February. The tour, like every Stones trek since 1989, is produced by Michael Cohl under the Concert Productions International banner, with Live Nation.

Though no one's commenting officially, talk is that the Stones will stretch the tour into 2007, meaning a final mark of more than $500 million is easily in range.

Saw that today as well Scotty. And 3.5 million with much fewer gigs. :P

I just read in a paper that U2 have earned over 30 million during their 7 concerts in Austrailia during 2 weeks :o :o :o :o

They played to over 400,000 people and it said it was the biggest grossing tour this year in Oz. Robbie is playing to over 500,000 so surely he would be making more.

I am dying to see what the total figure for Rob's tour is.

Robbie broke the 3 million barrier today. :yahoo:

Excellent, and to think some of them attendence's are too low it would be even higher :o

Definatly will have hit 3.5 million by the end :o

Thanks Hup :D

Did anyone see the article in the Guardian today about Wembley - It said that Muse would play first in June & that there was unconfirmed reports of a Robbie Williams concert being held as well ????????????

We heard the rumour Tessa. I really don't know.

What with his career being finished and all.... :P

Yeah, no way would he be able to sell out Wembley Stadium. he is Robbie "the failing pop star" Williams afterall  :P

No seriously though, if he announced a Wembley show next year it would be so amazing and I might actually go :o ^_^

Perhaps he could do those 5 sell out gig afterall ^_^ And perhaps add another few as well :P

Oh Yeah - I know its very sad that his career is failing - the most obvious sign of his career failing was when he managed to sell only just over 3 MILLION concert tickets - imagine that . The newspaers in the UK must not have heard about that - Oh ' How envious they are ' - no wonder they hate Robbie so much.

I wonder if he will do Soccer Aid again in May ( ITV want to do it again ) & maybe he has plans to do Wembley later on as well - I would think its the one place he would love to do a show & was probably very dissapointed that it did not happen this year as planned.

Which thing ??????????????????????????????????????????????////

The total number of people Robbie has played to so far on tour ^_^ It's on page 1 ^_^

Which thing ??????????????????????????????????????????????////

THE RAZZ: JAXX SLAM SOULLESS ROBBIE GIG

Money talks say dance duo

Exclusive by Showbiz Liz & Beverley Lyons

BASEMENT Jaxx say they'll never tour with Robbie Williams again, claiming he's become a corporate moneymaking machine.

The dance giants toured with Robbie in the summer, including two nights at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

They were back in the city on Friday night playing at the SECC, giving Scottish fans a real treat.

Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe, the duo behind the band, have clocked up 20 hit singles and five albums in their 10 year career.

Their recent support slot with Robbie saw them play in new countries, bringing them a new army of fans.

Felix said: "I wouldn't want to repeat that experience. We didn't hang out with him. He tried to be down to earth but I think sometimes he probably wonders what he's doing.

"It's a big money-making corporate machine. Fans pay a lot of money to get to the gig then they get there and the programme costs £12 for a few pages, then there's the Robbie ring tones and Robbie everything.

"It's milking money at every point."

Simon added: "There are adverts on the big screens. It's like an all day event with people arriving from 2pm with five bands before he comes on.

"We had different screens from the ones Robbie used and on his there was adverts for Orange phones and BMW.

"The thing is he's doing very well, he's very popular, but it's mass entertainment and it just felt a bit soulless."

The boys said they did get one unique experience from the tour, by playing to such huge audiences.

Simon said: "It's a good experience to play to so many people.

"We played football stadiums every day and a race track in Germany. 97,000 people two days in a row which was staggering.

"It went really well and we did a good job as far as being a support act.

"We really built the crowd up and got the atmosphere . jumping." ( Not where I was sitting you didn't  )

Although for Felix, the Germany gigs were bizarre as he explained: "Half of the I people in Germany had 1 never heard of us. And in I Germany the whole family 4 go to Robbie gigs - mum, I dad, gran and the kids all go. "I'm there singing Where's f Your Head At, screaming down the mic, and there's , these wide-eyed people staring at me, clapping their hands in bewilderment. It was a bit cheesy to be honest."

Basement Jaxx, who's fifth album Crazy Itch Radio was realised in September, originally turned the tour down even though Robbie asked them.

But they changed their mind ~ when they heard their beloved Wembley was was on the schedule.

"We said no at first and then when we realised he was playing Wembley Stadium, we changed out minds. It's such a historical venue," said Simon.

"Most of my friends who are into good music don't think Robbie's very good at all, but they all said we should do it. For him it was a bit of cred and for us it was a bit of exposure."

The band are now off to Australia where they'll performing at Bondi Beach for Hogmanay before taking a well earned rest in 2007.

Hated them. I'm sooooo glad I did. :P
