April 24, 201114 yr I really didn't like how the media only picked up on that recently. It's been known for over a month, but was it only last week they were mentioning it on R1, and a story in The Sun. Shouldn't be too much of a 'shock', given this is the fourth year with two semis, and we've only been able to vote in Ireland's once. The Sun used the word 'banned', which I felt was a bit strong because although true, it's more just a case of 'we're voting in the other semi instead'.
April 24, 201114 yr The Metro said Banned too. It's just sucky journalism really. They should have written about it when it was chosen.

April 28, 201114 yr Where on EARTH do you begin with a set of predictions like these?! It's not like predictions, it's my music taste
April 28, 201114 yr Had a go a predicting semi 1 earlier, hopefully it's not far off; SF1 1. Azerbaijan 2. Hungary 3. Russia 4. Greece 5. Norway 6. Turkey 7. Poland 8. Finland 9. Serbia 10. Switzerland ------------------ 11. Armenia 12. Georgia 13. Croatia 14. Albania 15. Iceland 16. Lithuania 17. Portugal 18. San Marino 19. Malta I think it'll be close though between positions 7 and 12, and any of those six I can see qualifying.
April 28, 201114 yr It's not like predictions, it's my music taste  Then why post them in a thread titled PREDICTIONS?
April 30, 201114 yr Then why post them in a thread titled PREDICTIONS? Cause I predict these results, based on my music taste :)
May 3, 201114 yr and ...................................................................................... suddenly everybody bet for france , the odds fell from 7-8 to 4.3 !!! this is the first time you ll remember older my posts me and the second will be in the final... why france got so many bets and the odds fell ? this is normal when a country is favor at the polls ,nor for a country which is from 5-15 to every poll...
May 3, 201114 yr Author Congratulations for predicting something to be top of the odds when it was already in the top two of the odds.
May 4, 201114 yr 23 posts later, and I'm still unsure about what ESC EXPERT is trying to "prove". :( its so simple France isnt first in any poll , you can check it ,but the odds are felling continuously ,it was 7-8 and now its the big favor with only 4 ,the next favor is 8 and 9 is this normal ? NO! What does this means ? this means that the people who knows that france is set up to win are betting continuously and the odds fell and dont tell me that they dont know it but they are just predicting it because everybody bets according to the polls and as i said before france isnt first in none poll ....

Erm, yes, it is normal. Russia wasn't first in any poll but it was still a big favourite in 2008. By that rationale Hungary ought to be the big favourite (oh, and who's currently second in the OGAE poll I wonder?) Again, why on EARTH would France of all nations be set up to win? You haven't quite explained this.
May 4, 201114 yr Surely if any country was to be 'set up for a win' this year, and is also one doing well in both fan polls and with bookies, it's the UK, maybe as a thanks and congraulations for the Royal Wedding/Olympics next year etc...? France doesn't make any sense... (disclaimer: note that I don't actually believe in 'goodwill voting', it would just make more sense if it was actually going to happen for it to be directed at the UK) @ESC Expert - the odds ALWAYS fall for the favourites as it gets closer to the contest. Of course it will have more people betting on it the closer it gets - hence the shortening of odds as bookies get worried. I'd be surprised if many people putting money on France are doing so because they have this inside knowledge that you seem to have that they are being set up to win. If I was going to put money on anything this year, it would be France and the UK too - purely because I feel that they are the standout entries this year, certainly not for any other reason

I think the 2nd place is a fight between UK and Hungary (the latter will do very well in both televoting and juries alike I think). I also had a cheeky bet on Sweden (I always like to stick a couple of quid on a Euro cheese outsider!)
May 4, 201114 yr Author I put an each way bet of a tenner on Russia as at 29/1 (as it was a couple of days back) I saw a massive snip there. I also stuck a fiver on the UK winning.

I was going to stick an each way bet on Russia at 28/1 but made the fatal mistake of thinking it can wait until tomorrow. Cue next day and a drop to 16/1
