I got the names June and Rose mixed round! opps.

I did think it was recorded after her death not before though?

Given that she's in the video with him I'd say that's unlikely :D

She died in 2003 and Hurt was released originally in 2002. He died about 6 months after her. Many have claimed after she died he simply gave up on life

Oh and I meant to say earlier that my favourite of his albums is Bitter Tears

Not gonna lie, but it was the film 'Walk The Line' which got me listening to Johnny  (Have to start somewhere, right?). Although I have only heard a handful of his tracks so far (even though I bought his 'Legend of Johnny Cash' greatest hits album...) His cover of 'Hurt' is exceptional. It's so raw and powerful. Didn't he record it, like weeks before his death or something?

Oooh yes I loved 'Walk the Line'! I got 'The Legend of Johnny Cash' straight afterwards too, but didn't really listen to it that much at the time besides the songs I already knew pretty well. Thanks for all the recommendations everyone, I'll get onto it. And Grebo, I'd completely forgottena bout retro, perhaps that would've been a better place to post the thread - have had quite a few helpful replies here though!
