March 19, 201114 yr I can live without Red Shoes, apart from the divine Song of Solomon, And So Is Love and Lily... Listened to TRS again last night and it is better than I remembered it to be. Is this a case of my own prejudice against this album. Nowhere near her best but Moments of Pleasure had me in pieces (again!) and, funnily enough, the tracks I didn't think so much of were Song of Solomon, Constellation of the Heart and Why Should I Love You? The last of these has got to be on Director's Cut, it's crying out for a decent version.
March 19, 201114 yr Song of Solomon is fantastic. I know I liked in the past but I definitely didn't connect with it last night. Lots of tracks I prefer to it.
March 19, 201114 yr I think Song of Solomon is in my top 10 Kate moments to be honest. I like Moments of Pleasure, I just find it a bit... wordy (and some terrible lyrics... "every old sock meets an old shoe' :o )...and I hate all the Red Shoes videos, they're all a bit... gimpy. I'd say Constellaion of the Heart ties with Between a Man and a Woman as my least favourite Kate track.

Got The Sensual World vids on VHS and I love them.

April 4, 201114 yr Here's the new version of Deeper Understanding H5UsjqXXcZ4 Kate Bush releases her new single, a brand new version of “Deeper Understanding”, on Tuesday April 5. The single is released digitally and had its first play this morning, Monday April 4 on Radio 2. A new short film to accompany the track will be premiered in a few weeks. It’s directed by Kate and stars Robbie Coltrane, Frances Barber and Noel Fielding – and Kate’s son Albert plays the role of the computer programme. He is also featured in the song, singing as the computer programme. Kate’s new album “Director’s Cut” is released on May 16, the first album to be released on her own label, Fish People, which will be distributed by EMI. The track-listing for the album, which sees her revisit and, in some cases, re-record tracks from two of her classic albums is: FLOWER OF THE MOUNTAIN (a new version of the song originally titled ‘The Sensual World’) SONG OF SOLOMON DEEPER UNDERSTANDING LILY RED SHOES THIS WOMAN’S WORK MOMENTS OF PLEASURE NEVER BE MINE TOP OF THE CITY AND SO IS LOVE RUBBERBAND GIRL Kate says: “Originally when I wrote the song ‘The Sensual World’ I had used text from the end of ‘Ulysses’ by James Joyce, put to a piece of music I had written. When I asked for permission to use the text I was refused, which was disappointing. I then wrote my own lyrics for the song although I felt that the original idea had been more interesting. Well, I’m not James Joyce am I? When I came to work on this project I thought I would ask for permission again and this time they said yes. It is now re-titled ‘Flower Of the Mountain’ and I am delighted that I have had the chance to fulfill the original concept”. All the lead vocals and drums on “Director’s Cut” are new performances, some of the tracks featuring guests including Steve Gadd, Danny Thompson and, on backing vocals, Mica Paris. Three songs have been completely re-recorded, one of which is “This Woman’s Work”. Kate adds: “For some time I have felt that I wanted to revisit tracks from these two albums and that they could benefit from having new life breathed into them. Lots of work had gone into the two original albums and now these songs have another layer of work woven into their fabric. I think of this as a new album”. Kate Bush is currently working on her new album of brand new material."
April 4, 201114 yr Can't wait for the new version of This Woman's Work. Deeper Understanding will take a few listens. It's interesting.
April 4, 201114 yr Liking that on first listen. The tracklisting for the album is better than I had thought also, I was expecting the whole of both albums to re-recorded but I'd far rather have the highlights of both together. Quite excited about this project now.
April 4, 201114 yr Author yeah i can't wait for the new version of this womans work! can't believe noel fielding's gonna be in the video
April 4, 201114 yr I like the new version very much.... although I'm a little worried that the only good tracks on Red Shoes - Top of the City, Moments of Pleasure, Lily and Song of Solomon are the ones she's re-recorded - I just hope they're not as much of a disaster as her re-recording of Wuthering Heights for the Whole Story... and isn't This Woman's Work perfect anyway? There's nothing needs changing with it whatsoever, so I'm a little worried she's done this one. Just finished reading Under The Ivy, a new biography on Kate by Graeme Thomson - a damn good read, very insightful, not schmoozy at all - honest, well-written and incredibly well researched.

Just finished reading Under The Ivy, a new biography on Kate by Graeme Thomson - a damn good read, very insightful, not schmoozy at all - honest, well-written and incredibly well researched. yeah this woman's work is already perfect but it'll be nice to see if she can somehow improve on it somehow though there's always that possibility getting butchered! saying that though, i do really like the alternative mix of hounds of love that she did when it was released. even though it's quite different from the original, i think it really works. especially the intro which i even prefer to the main version. oh and also here's another new press photo.. http://i55.tinypic.com/2mgsbqe.jpg is it just me or does she remind anyone else of marina abramovic so much here?! April 5, 201114 yr I wonder if she'll ever do another reworking of "Wuthering Heights". Not that it needs it, I just find this forthcoming era quite exciting.
April 5, 201114 yr The only way Wuthering Heights should be redone is piano only but iut really doesn't need it. This Woman's Work is among her best works and doesn't need touching at all as far as I'm concerned
April 5, 201114 yr This Woman's Work is perfect as it is but many other perfect songs have been re-done in the past - it doesn't mean the original will cease to exist. So, if it's a disaster then people just wont listen to it.
April 5, 201114 yr Hopefully she won't tamper with This Woman's Work too much and then we'll just have a lovely HQ version instead.
April 7, 201114 yr Don't forget, she's already re-recorded Wuthering Heights once - for the Whole Story compilation.... it was disastrous...
