May 20, 201114 yr I like it too. It's easily better than both of the two original albums for me. I love Sensual World, so definitely don't agree - and, after buying the 3-CD pack, with the Red Shoes remastered from the original analogue tapes..... there's at least half of the album that sounds..... bloody brilliant. Song of Solomon and Top of the City especially - the remaster works amazingly well... these 2 songs have never sounded better - and definitely not in their re-recorded state on Director's Cut. OK, we still have the appalling Constellation of the Heart, Why Should I Love You and You're The One.... but tracks like Big Stripey Lie... they sound damn good given the old remastering treatment. What strikes me with Director's Cut is the sameiness.... it's as if Kate remembers the universal praise for A Coral Room - and decides her other classic ballads (This Woman's Work and Moments of Pleasure) would benefit from - exactly the same treatment...... to my ears, they don't, although Moments on the new album is rather brilliant. I'm still agahast at how Godawful Flower of the Mountain is, though..... a definite "what on earth was she thinking?!" moment for me..... :o
