Posted March 23, 201114 yr http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/500/27028023/Bon%20Iver%20boniver.jpg 'New Bon Iver album imminent' Folksy Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon has certainly kept busy as of late, but it's been more than a minute since we've heard any word on the follow-up to Bon Iver's 2009 EP Blood Bank. Now, a Rolling Stone article sheds a bit of light on Bon Iver's forthcoming LP. The as-yet-untitled ten-song record is set for release some time in June. According to Rolling Stone, experimental saxophonist Colin Stetson and pedal-steel guitarist Greg Leisz (Wilco, Joni Mitchell) were tapped to contribute to the record. Tracks include "Perth", which Vernon refers to as "a Civil War-sounding heavy metal song" and Rolling Stone reports that it features "a marching drum beat, a children's choir and wailing guitars," "Minnesota Wisconsin", and the closer "Beth/Rest", which Vernon claims is "definitely the part where you pick up your joint and re-light it." Okay! - - - - - - - Rolling Stone: He says it was liberating to recognize his own limitations and move on. “I always had a dream to be that sort of student of Neil Young, one of those people who can sit down and write a song and have it be this full statement and sound good,” he says. “I just don’t think I’m as good at it as those people, frankly, and over the last few years, I’ve adapted.” The result is a lush 10-track collage in which each song represents a place. The first, "Perth," grew out of a rejuvenating experience Vernon had in the Australian city (which, he points out, sounds a lot like birth, “but better, because it doesn’t sound as ugly”), and features a marching drum beat, a childrens’ choir and wailing guitars. “It’s a Civil War-sounding heavy metal song,” he says. “It’s sort of chaotic, dense, jarring.” “Minnesota Wisconsin” deals with Vernon’s childhood and features finger-picked guitars, double bass drums and distorted bass saxophone. The album ends with horn-heavy “Beth/Rest.” “I’m the most proud of that song,” says Vernon, who is cagy on the details. “It’s definitely the part where you pick up your joint and re-light it.” Really excited about this! March 24, 201114 yr Painfully excited for this. For Emma was my favourite album of 2008, so here's hoping he can deliver to the same standard...
March 24, 201114 yr Good news that he hasn't jumped the "ooh I'm so cool now after I've done Kanye West and stoled his phone book now let's see who we got here" bandwagon but doing music on his own. I got the feeling that For Emma, Forever Ago got the big praise because it was recording in the cabin in the middle of nowhere...Musically, it wasn't even close to the best album of 2008 although very good but the atmosphere of the album including the artwork was pretty exceptional. I bought Blood Bank too but the same magic wasn't there. Interesting to hear his new stuff. Edited March 24, 201114 yr by SKOB

May 17, 201114 yr Author So apparently it was being sold early on iTunes by accident (now it's been removed). OUCH.
