June 21, 201114 yr As if Pitchfork could've given anything less than 9.0 I'll buy my copy tomorrow. Excited!
June 21, 201114 yr Author I'm waiting for my copy to arrive. I need the poster and t-shirt in my life! Worried the t-shirt will be ways too big though - I wanted a medium to be safe but it said they were sold out so I had to get a large! Think I might have to give it a few spins in the tumble dryer before wearing it...
June 21, 201114 yr 'Holocene' is incredible, my favourite so far. I'm seriously considering buying the LP & poster as the artwork is stunning!
June 23, 201114 yr I've now listened to it twice and...It's very good. However, I was left to wait for the perfect song all through the album and it never came, except the absolutely gorgeous 'Calgary' obviously but somehow I hoped there would've been something even more exceptional. But apparently these ten songs are the only songs Justin Vernon has written since Blood Bank so I don't really wonder why it doesn't scream 'masterpiece!' in the end. But top 10 album of the year surely. The best moments are around the middle imo. Beth/Rest sounds like Phil Collins gone country. Edited June 23, 201114 yr by SKOB
July 2, 201113 yr Ok, this sounds better and better on each listen.. It needs a certain mood to work 100% though.
July 6, 201113 yr I finally listened to this last night and admittedly, it is only after one listen, I don't find it to be the earth-shatteringly good album this is being made out to be. It's a very pleasant listen sure but I guess this just shows how out of step my tastes can be with everyone else coz this is universally being praised as a future classic. Definitely don't see it myself.
July 6, 201113 yr My thoughts exactly after the first listen.. But listen to it when you're feeling a bit down in the evening. Works very well Although Justin's voice irritates me more than on For Emma, Forever Ago.
July 6, 201113 yr My thoughts exactly after the first listen.. But listen to it when you're feeling a bit down in the evening. Works very well Although Justin's voice irritates me more than on For Emma, Forever Ago. That's when I did listen to it! I will try again sometime soon. God knows I have listened to enough albums that haven't clicked immediately and then (years) later have worked for me.
July 24, 201113 yr Covering Who Is It by Bjork.. in love right now  mo4f5LEYpmU So wish he'd do this in the Live Lounge or something so that there'd be a higher quality version!
November 18, 201113 yr Author "On November 29, Jagjaguwar will release a deluxe edition of Bon Iver's BNM'd Bon Iver. The album will come with track-by-track video accompaniments by Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Isaac Gale, David Jensen, JoLynn Garnes, Ryan Thompson, Andre Durand, and Dan Huiting (who Pitchfork.tv works with on "City of Music"). A press release notes that the videos are not necessarily "music videos", but rather provide atmospheric visuals. The release will be available via iTunes, with a limited edition DVD coming in early December, available for free with purchase of the album at select shops and through Jagjaguwar's mail-order." vjve7dT3Twg Eeeeee.
November 27, 201113 yr Going to get all the ire I can tell but this album disappointed me. It felt a bit samey. None of the songs had individual personality like 'For Emma'. I keep listening to this, hoping it will click because I loved 'For Emma' so much but it just isn't. :snif:
January 19, 201213 yr According to Wikipedia, Towers is the new single. Love it, the third best song on the album so appropriately a third single too. The album has sold very well in the US (350k) and was Top 100 still couple of weeks ago.
February 13, 201213 yr Won best new artist (yeah...) and alternative album of the year at the Grammy's. February 13, 201213 yr BONNY BEAR. DEAD. Not trying to be stereotypical here, but why most of these people are black? Is this a Grammys thing or just a coincidence? Ha. Edited February 13, 201213 yr by Ljósið
February 13, 201213 yr It's so funny! :D BONNY BEAR. DEAD. Not trying to be stereotypical here, but why most of these people are black? Is this a Grammys thing or just a coincidence? Ha. I think it's very much to do with how the US music scene is, most of these people won't have heard of anyone remotely alternative because they'd never come across anything like it, they're all massively into the urban music scene there so as far as they're concerned Nicki Minaj and J Cole are both ridiculously huge and the other three nominees are completely irrelevant to anything.
February 13, 201213 yr Isn't it time people realised that awards go to less well known artists... People are f***ing stupid. :(
