Pretty sure Shakira returned to the top with Hips Don't Lie. She should be counted as a solo female as well. Sorry to be a pedant.

She did but I din't count her as a solo female as it was credited to Shakira feat Wyclef Jean. In general she is a solo artist but she wasn't on this record. I think that makes me the pedant :D

Suedehead2, ABBA's 'Super Trouper', was not the last Studio Album to manage 9

consecutive Weeks at No.1.

The last one, was in 1986 - 'Brothers In Arms' - 10 Weeks. And, 'Kings Of The

Wild Frontier', by Adam & The Ants, was No.1 for 10 consecutive weeks in 1981

- having been No.1 for 2 Weeks, earlier in 1981.

'Super Trouper' was the last Studio Album, with Female Lead Vocals, to spend

as many as 9 successive Weeks at No.1.

THE WEEKS AT No.1 OF THE ‘21’ ALBUM BY ADELE - IN CONTEXT

I hope that these 8 ‘Points’ make sense! I realise that I go into every genre, & gender, of Album/Acts

to make them. It can get a bit confusing. But, I’ve read & re-read what I’ve written, & none of the

8 ‘Points’ contradicts another. Each of them makes sense, is valid, & stands alone…..

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

1) ‘21’ by Adele is No.1, for a 9th consecutive Week, in the W/E 2nd April Chart

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

2) It equals the longest ever ‘Run’ by a Solo Female Album - ‘The Immaculate Collection’

by Madonna, being the only other Solo Female Album to achieve the Feat. (1990/1991).

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

3) ‘21’ has the longest consecutive ‘Run’ for a Studio Album, with Female Lead Vocals since

‘Super Trouper’, by ABBA, managed a 9 Week ‘Run’ in 1980/1981.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

4) It has the longest consecutive ‘Run’ by any Studio Album since ‘Brothers In Arms’, by Dire Straits,

which was No.1 for 10 Weeks in a row, in 1986. (It was its 3rd ‘Run’ at No.1. It had previously been

No.1 for 2 ‘Runs’, of 2 Weeks, in 1985. Overall, this gave that Album 14 Weeks at No.1).

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

5) ‘21’ has the longest consecutive ‘Run’ at No.1, by any Album with a Female Lead Vocalist,

since 1991, when ‘Greatest Hits’, by The Eurythmics, was No.1 for 9 Weeks. That Album

spent a 10th Week at No.1, later in 1991.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

6) The Adele Album has the longest ‘Run’ at No.1 of any Album, since ‘1’, by The Beatles, was No.1

for 9 consecutive Weeks, in 2000/2001.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

7) But - remember - Adele does not - yet - hold the UK Chart Record for the most No.1 Weeks, (by a Solo

Female), with the same Album. She still has to beat these 3 Ladies, with these 3 Albums:,

1)=ALANIS MORISSETTE - JAGGED LITTLE PILL - (3 ‘RUNS’) 11 WEEKS (1998)

1)=COME ON OVER - SHANIA TWAIN - (3 ‘RUNS’) 11 WEEKS (1999 - 2000)

3) LIFE FOR RENT - DIDO - (4 ‘RUNS’) 10 WEEKS (2003 - 2004)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

8) Excluding Stage Cast Albums & Film Soundtracks, (Julie Andrews), the only Act with Female Lead

Vocalists to have more than 1 Album, with as many as 9 consecutive Weeks at No.1, is ABBA.

A) 1976 - ‘GREATEST HITS’ - 9 WEEKS At No.1 (11 No.1 Weeks over-all)

B) 1977 - ‘ARRIVAL’ - 9 WEEKS At No.1 (10 No.1 Weeks over-all)

C) 1980/1981 - ‘SUPER TROUPER’ - 9 WEEKS At No.1

Oops, you're right there. I was only looking at albums with exactly nine weeks rather than at least nine weeks

ADELE (Her latest UK Chart Feats!)

21 has just gone to No.1 - for a 3rd time - in the USA 'Billboard'

Top 200. In the meantime, her UK Chart Feats continue anabated.....

A) HER 3rd SIMULTANEOUS No.1 & No.2 ALBUM WEEK

For a 3rd time she holds the No.1 & No.2 Album Positions. She becomes only

the 4th Act to achieve the Feat, for more than 2 Weeks.

The other 3 Acts were - The George Mitchell Minstrels - 3 Weeks, (1961 to 1962),

The Beatles - 19 Weeks, (1963 to 1964), & Mike Oldfield - 4 Weeks, (1974).

B) THE 20th ACT TO MANAGE A 2nd DOUBLE TOP

Adele becomes only the 20th Act to have more than 1 Double Top. As

well as being only the 4th Solo Female to have more than 1. The others

being Madonna, (4 times), Lady GaGa, (twice), & Rihanna, (twice).

C) IT IS HER HER 5th DOUBLE TOP WEEK

Adele has now Topped both UK Charts for 5 Weeks, with

the same Single & Album. This has only been achieved 5 few

times, since The Beatles did it in 1963/1964.

Before then, only these 2 Acts achieved it for more than 4 Weeks, with the

same Single & Album - each for 6 Consecutive Weeks:,

1) 11/01/1962 (6) Cliff Richard & The Shadows - The Young Ones (OST) // The Young Ones

2) 09/05/1963 (6) The Beatles - Please Please Me // From Me To You

Then, The Beatles achieved it again:,

THE BEATLES - DECEMBER 1963 To JANUARY 1964

12/12/1963 (5) The Beatles - With The Beatles // I Want To Hold Your Hand

SINCE THEN:,

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

1) MEAT LOAF = 5 Weeks - Non-Consecutive

30/10/1993 (3) Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell // I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)

27/11/1993 (2) Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell // I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

2) WET WET WET = 5 Weeks - Non-Consecutive

30/07/1994 (4) Wet Wet Wet - End Of Part One (Their Greatest Hits) // Love Is All Around

03/09/1994 (1) Wet Wet Wet - End Of Part One (Their Greatest Hits) // Love Is All Around

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

3) CELINE DION = 5 Weeks - Consecutive

04/02/1995 (5) Celine Dion - The Colour Of My Love // Think Twice

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

4) JAMES BLUNT = 5 Weeks - Consecutive

23/07/2005 (5) James Blunt - Back To Bedlam // You’re Beautiful

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

5) ADELE = 5 Weeks - Non-Consecutive

26/02/2011 (4) Adele - 21 // Someone Like You

02/04/2011 (1) Adele - 21 // Someone Like You

A CONTENTIOUS ONE

This Duo would be a 6th Act to achieve it, since 1963/1964 - if you

choose to count them. They only count if you credit the Grease

Soundtrack to them. Most Chart Books regard it as a Various Artists

Album. It IS - BUT - John & Olivia ARE credited on the Cover. Personally

I see no problem with counting John & Olivia, as having had the 'Double

Top', for 6 Weeks, in 1978...

JOHN TRAVOLTA & OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN = 6 Weeks - Consecutive

07/10/1978 (6) John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John - Grease (OST) // Summer Nights
