Well we've already had bands like The Kooks and possibly Orson but what other rock bands do you think will be big in 2006?

I think PANIC! At The Disco are a safe bet as much as they are already starting considering their album sales ^_^ and I'm sure I was thinking of another band when I started to make this thread but I've forgotten who it was.

I reckon The Kooks will become A lot more well known this year, and I also think Orson could do well, as well as The Feeling. Pretty Dirty Things will also do well, as well as Plan B.

Ar! It was Dirty Pretty Things I was thinking of ;)

2006 will be the year that Lacuna Coil will finally make their big-breakthrough, they're gonna be HIM, Marilyn Manson and NIN big.....People are finally waking up and realising that Evanescence were the impostors and LC are the real deal....

Let's face it, if they'd been American and not Italian, it would've happened in '02 when they did 'Comalies' and Ev wouldn't even have registered as a blip on the radar....

El Presendinte were tipped a few years ago and thye haven't lived up to what was said of them and I don't think they ever will, the same applies to Tom Vek.

The Raconteurs

The Feeling

The Automatic

Boy Kill Boy

The Fratellis

plus some of the others previously mentioned, plus some more which I can't remember atm lol!

I'll be seeing The Automatic on Saturday :cheer: (supporting The Ordinary Boys ;) )

I reckon it's the year of Silver Sun...

(um, ya.)

No, seriously, it's probably gonna be a good one for Dirty Pretty Things, which is a shame because they're a bit shonky.

the same applies to Tom Vek.

Tom Vek's doing fine. I don''t think he'll ever he Kaiser Cheifs or Bloc Party big but I think hell have a successful carrer. Ive heard hes currently writing a second album

As for bands this year, I recon Campaign For RealTime might be big. They feature an ex member of Garrison and do a lot of prog music with synths in a very comedic style. Check em out. Awesome live as well. :D

So should this thread be renamed "who I want to be big this year" or "who's big already?"

El Presidente are Hue and Cry playing soft metal, they might have made it big in 1989, but not in 2006.

Orson are this year's Maroon 5 or Spin Doctors. Do not make them big, you will only regret it later. Too late, they're number one...thanks.

Ok, who could be big this year? Dirty Pretty Things will probably hit the top 2 with their debut, not because it's good but because Libertines fans will be desperate for it. The album will be number one.

Boy Kill Boy look most likely to do what the Kaiser Chiefs did last year. If "Suzie" can get in the top 10 then it could pave the way for "Civil Sin" to be re-released and become their "I Predict a Riot".

The Long Blondes will become the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but won't become huge because their kind of music never does.

Orson will be bought by everybody who bought Maroon 5's "Songs for Jane", because, just like in 2004, those people don't take the time to look out decent music.

The Aliens will have three singles in the top 75, a number 37 album and be largely ignored by people despite being ace.

Snow Patrol are about to release their "Invisible Band". It'll sell bucketloads but only to people who'd never heard of them before "Run".

US Rap and RnB fever will finally cool down in Britain (yeah right)

Milburn and Bromhead's Jacket will be Northside and Flowered up to the Arctic Monkeys Happy Mondays.

I didn't buy "Songs About Jane" but I still bought Orson, and I think Angels and Airwaves could be quite big as well but that could be down to the fact that the lead singer was in Blink 182.

Ah, didn't know that. Cheers. Explains why I don't like em :D

   i wonder if there is a r18 version of that audrey tatou film called pretty dirty things???   would be a good title for an r&b band

I'd love for Be Your Own Pet to be massive.

Their album is gonna be awesome, I'm thinking.

hmmmm... I'm not sure if be your own PET will be that big myself  I remember saying on CC that I can see them having quite a 'cult' fanbase ;) though I like what I've heard from them so far
