Posted April 1, 201114 yr On May 7th 2003, Madonna.com & Radio 1 announced that Madonna would make her first EVER in store gig appearance in the UK at HMV's Oxford Street store in London for 500 fans on Friday May 9th 2003 to get a wristband all you had to do was queue up outside HMV on close of sale on wednesday evening (that evening!) (May 7th) be in the top 500 there and you got a wristband into the gig!. The gig was also brocasted on Radio 1. Madonna performed a seven song set, with a full band. The band and her stage clothes arrived at 2.30pm, and the band performed a soundcheck. Although Madonna was due on stage at 4pm, she infact did not turn up at the store until 4pm. She then performed a soundcheck with the band which left fans waiting until 5.30pm when the concert finally began. April 14, 201114 yr Author Well kinda, just it was the US version and was in New York for a show called On Stage And On The Record and that was shown on Mtv in the states and in the UK the next day. (She wore this for the show http://www.mad-eyes.net/news/2003/images/news_mtv02.jpg) The setlist was the same apart from she didn't perform Don't Tell Me on that it was just on the UK promo shows. On the French promo show she did Like A Virgin instead and Germany got Music.
April 14, 201114 yr Oh yes, I remember better now. My interest in Madonna was a lot more casual back then but I remember stumbling across the show and watching it. Thanks for the great info :)
January 16, 201312 yr Author *bumps up* Lets hope HMV can be saved over the years it has been a great source to get Madonna items not just CDs and DVDs but other merchandise too.
