I've given up wishing for a video now. It seems like an opportunity lost as the song could have gained a whole lot more airplay from the music channels which have a surprising effect on iTunes etc. these days.

Not to mention music videos are an artists legacy and are played for YEARS after release. Ah well, XL don't seem to give a shit about things like that

Adele has a performance on the first episode of Jonathan Ross's new television show on Saturday night; I'm not sure what she's performing, but it's billed as her "latest single" (which is this) - so I'd expect a boost [possibly into the iTunes top 10, but even if it does get there, it'll get kicked out again the following day by the four new entries]. Anyway, it could be another song, which would be a great start to its single campaign. :D
Any chance of Adele performing on Red or Black? She'd shoot up the chart if so :)

I read a few weeks ago she was performing ''Rumour Has It'' :D

Btw, SFTTR is at #5 on Irish iTunes.... Yaay!

SFTTR is doing really well

-currently at #18 on UK iTunes

and at #29 on US iTunes :o: (3 days ago it was at #59, then it went at #34).

It looks that it still has potential to smash. For me SFTTR battles with SLY, RITD and TT as one of the best songs on '21'.

I hope it can climb in the future ,i really love set the fire to the rain and would love it to do well there.

It HAS to be a single worldwide, its shown potential pretty much everywhere! Maybe they are waiting for the video release when all countries are ready for it, and then who knows with a video, and maybe an X Factor performance SFTTR could still have so much potential in it! Its still top 10 on radio & #20 on UK iTunes after months already and 300K+ sales, and 21 has 3,000,000+ ofcourse.

OMFGMusic

"Set Fire to the Rain" has officially replaced "Rumour Has It" as the 3rd US single from Adele's platinum-selling album '21.'

I expect a video will be released shortly now  It's a good choice though, especially as it's done so well from just being downloaded from the album.

Thank GOD, releasing Rumour Has It third in the USA would be retarded while I can see SFTTR being massive. Hopefully the video will be sooner rather than later although I don't expect it before the end of the year.

The Billboard report on this gives RITD's sales as 5.5 million now - probably not particularly new news but it's still rapidly closing in on the 6 million mark which would put it in the top 10 singles of all time in the USA (according to Wikipedia anyway, only 8 songs are above 6 million) :cheer:

Other totals given by the report:

'21' 4.3 million (although we have a more exact total for this anyway)

'Set Fire To The Rain' 683,000

'Rumour Has It' 408,000

'Someone Like You' 2.7 million

Hopefully Someone Like You can reach 4 million in the future.

Thanks, what about Turning Tables? How much has that sold?

That wasn't given in the report but I think we got a total for TT fairly recently.

EDIT: Found it, Theo posted a total of 398,718 in the Daily US Airplay Updates thread up to the 22nd of October chart. I don't understand the US chart date system but I'd guess that figure isn't any more than a month old. Should have gone over 400k since :D

Well considering Rumour Has It has sold 400k it would be an OK choice. The US seems to like it. Not as good a choice as Set Fire but it would still do well. I hope we get the Set Fire video quickly though.

That's 400k with some airplay though (a couple million AI), SFTTR has sold nearly 75% more with no airplay at all (it's probably been played a few times here and there but nowhere near as much as RHI).

I do agree RHI could have been big as a single anyway but SFTTR is the obvious choice by a mile. RHI and TT would both be suitable as fourth single.

Is it alright if I repin this thread seeing as it is a current single outside the UK now?

Yeah, that's fine. In case you didn't know though, you don't need to edit the top post to change the topic titles/subtitles :P
