Whoops, missed another new record out. '19' reaches the top 5 for the first time on ita 122nd week in the Billboard 200, nearly twice as long as the previous latest first appearance (Kid Rock's 'Cocky' which reached the top 5 for the first time in its 64th appearance).

It should obviously say 'the rise of "19"' in the paragraph before the list - Billboard fail :P

Slightly delayed new US chart update;

Set Fire To The Rain a non-mover at #2 on the Hot 100 (overtaking 'Part Of Me' but being re-overtaken by 'What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)'), its tenth week top 10 and 26th week on the whole Hot 100. Down 4-5 on Digital Songs selling 167k, sales down 34% week-on-week. Third week at #1 on Radio Songs with 146 million AI, up 2% week-on-week.

21 gets a 22nd week at #1 on the Billboard 200, sales down 59% week-on-week to 297k. It's now the longest running #1 album since 'Purple Rain' by Prince & The Revolution, which had 24 weeks at #1 in 1984-5. As per the last update it gets a ninth week in a row at #1, a new 21st century record - the last longer consecutive stay was the 14 weeks in a row by the Titanic soundtrack in 1998. (The last non-soundtrack to spend more weeks in a row at #1 was Billy Ray Cyrus' Some Gave All (17 weeks) in 1992).

Rolling In The Deep falls 5-23 on the Hot 100. It becomes the joint sixth longest Hot 100 runner ever with 60 weeks, tying Los Del Rio's 'Macarena' for most weeks for a #1 hit (bizarrely none of the five songs ahead of Adele on the list made #1). It sold another 99k digitally (falling 3-14 on Digital Songs), taking its digital sales total past that of Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' to make it the highest digital seller by a female artist and the second biggest digital seller overall behind The Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling'. IGF is on 7.82m, RITD 6.68m and PF 6.62m.

Someone Like You falls 7-21 on the Hot 100, Rumour Has It reaches a new peak going 67-51 and '19' falls 4-7 on the Billboard 200 with sales down 56% week-on-week to 39k.

'21' is predicted for an easy 23rd week at #1 this week with early predictions from Billboard of 200-220k.

The US album sales are solid in terms of helping Adele build up a further million sales, 200,000 album sales per week really gives 21 a great boost when you add other worldwide sales per week. Anyone have an idea of how much 21 sells on average per week throughout the world?

Her average is about 350k a week.

Set Fire To The Rain has dropped out of the digital top 10 in the USA now. I haven't posted an update in a few weeks anyway, but basically it's been #3 on the Hot 100 the last two weeks and is #4 today. On Digital Songs it was #6 two weeks ago with 145k (down 13%) and then last week it was #9 with 114k (down 21%).

'21' scored a 23rd week at #1 on the Billboard 200 two weeks ago 247k (down 27%) - that took its year to date total over 2 million, the highest for that early in the year since 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin' in 2003. The last album that was already several months old and did 2 million that quickly was Shaggy's Hotshot in 2001, released in August 2000. '19' was also still at #7, with 37k (down 39%).

Last week '21' dropped to #2 behind Bruce Springsteen, selling another 195k (down 21%), literally about a thousand off staying #1 and matching the run of Prince & The Revolution's Purple Rain. Today it's a non-mover at #2, overtaking Bruce but stuck behind (of all people) One Direction. Sales of 148k (down 24%). Looks like it could dip under 100k again soon for the first time in quite a while.

Rolling In The Deep continues in its quest to get the all-time Hot 100 longevity record - it got its 62nd week last week moving it up to joint 5th, we won't know until tomorrow if it will take outright 5th with a 63rd week. It's moved -32-30 in the last two weeks, climbing back up a bit last week due to the introduction of the streaming chart where it is #10 (although oddly she has no other entries in the top 50 :()

Rumour Has It broke the top 40 two weeks ago, climbing to #39, but fell back to #57 last week, probabloy also partially to do with the streaming inclusion. Further updates on Rumour Has It and Adele in general will now be relocated to the Rumour Has It thread as SFTTR has dropped out of the digital top 10 now :P

Only one other new achievement I've found in Billboard's news archive - 'Set Fire To The Rain' has just hit #1 on adult contemporary, making '21' the first non-seasonal album to produce 3 AC #1s since 'Falling Into You' by Celine Dion in 1997-8.

Phew :P

Also Set Fire To The Rain has had 3 more weeks at #1 on Radio Songs since the last update, so it's matched the six-week run of Rolling In The Deep. Hopefully it will overtake that this week.
