April 6, 201114 yr I imagine this will be all over the place quality wise, the first set was spread too thinly so I don't hold out much hope for original remixes that weren't deemed good enough first time around. I only know a few of these, I can't imagine the Digitalism mix of Never Let Me Down Again appealing at all to most Mode fans at all. I'd rather they release a set of the 12" mixes tbh - although no doubt I will end up buying the 3 disc version of this for completist purposes regardless.
April 6, 201114 yr I'll listen on youtube, I'll read the reviews and then I'll cherrypick the ones I like.
April 7, 201114 yr Right, okay, there was a reason for the first comp to exist, but now it's just like a licence to print money.... To quote Mr Gahan - WRONG.... It's especially galling when you consider that more and more bands these days are actually offering out remix CDs as bonuses to an album....
April 7, 201114 yr Depeche Mode already released the excellent compilation Remixes 81-04 in 2004. Now, another one? -_-
April 10, 201114 yr There really are some excellent mixes on this album....but..... it's really just money for old rope...... Depeche seem to be turning into Morrissey - re-issue, repackage..... extra tracks and a tacky badge....
April 10, 201114 yr This looks phenomenal, idc if it's a cash cow and neither should anyone else really. I personally think Eric Prydz, Trentemoller remixes etc. are a lot more appealing than the other compilation...
April 11, 201114 yr This looks phenomenal, idc if it's a cash cow and neither should anyone else really. Given the increasing amount of similar acts on the Alternative Electronic scene now (particularly in Europe) who issue Remix CDs as part of the overall package, I think I know "cash cow" when I smell one....
April 11, 201114 yr Given the increasing amount of similar acts on the Alternative Electronic scene now (particularly in Europe) who issue Remix CDs as part of the overall package, I think I know "cash cow" when I smell one.... Oh I ain't denying it is one, but remix packages are fantastic so if they're making a few bob and doing something that genuinely interests peeps like me I see no harm~
April 11, 201114 yr Oh I ain't denying it is one, but remix packages are fantastic so if they're making a few bob and doing something that genuinely interests peeps like me I see no harm~ In general I'm not a big fan of remixes, but I must admit most DM remixes are great. :) e.g. Painkiller (Kill the Pain Mix - DJ Shadow vs Depeche Mode), Dream On (Dave Clarke Acoustic Version), Halo (Goldfrapp Remix), Route 66 (Beatmasters Mix), Everything Counts (Absolut Mix), Useless (The Kruder + Dorfmeister Session),... April 11, 201114 yr Just checked the sleeve art for this on amazon... VERY disappointing - they're carrying on the same ugly design of the first remix album. Long gone are the days when Depeche were the frontrunners in stunning sleeve design...... 'Playing The Angel', in particular, is shockingly terrible...... thanks, Mr Corbijn.... :( A decent photographer doth not make a great designer. Or something like that :P
April 12, 201114 yr Oh I ain't denying it is one, but remix packages are fantastic so if they're making a few bob and doing something that genuinely interests peeps like me I see no harm~ Dude, if I were you, I'd cherry pick the ones you like off of Amazon Download... Maybe even get them for about 30p each.... That's what I intend to do.. I'm not wasting £15 of new money on pretty old rope....
