Posted April 16, 201114 yr I thought I would share this, which I am hoping to keep updated. It's very interesting at the top at the moment as Matt Cardle is being caught by E&R, who in turn are about to be overtaken by Bruno, and of course Adele is bearing down on all of them. Thanks to VidCapper who I have relied on extensively for information. I am not tracking sales for anything outside this Top 50 so I can't answer requests I'm afraid. Please note that all of the sales and positions are estimates, although I am confident that they are correct within a couple of K. The estimated positions to the end of last week and the week before are shown. 1 1 960K When we collide – Matt Cardle 2 2 931K Love the way you lie – Eminem & Rihanna 3 3 928K Just the way you are – Bruno Mars 4 4 887K Only girl – Rihanna 5 5 768K Forget you – Cee-Lo Green 6 7 749K Someone like you – Adele 7 6 702K OMG – Usher feat will.i.am 8 9 700K What's my name – Rihanna feat Drake 9 8 700K Pass out – Tinie Tempah 10 10 689K Fireflies – Owl City 11 11 687K Airplanes – B.o.B feat Hayley Williams 12 12 685K California gurls – Katy Perry 13 15 680K Price tag – Jessie J feat B.o.B 14 14 679K Grenade – Bruno Mars 15 13 670K We no speak Americano – Yolanda Be Cool vs D Cup 16 16 659K Firework – Katy Perry 17 17 623K Everybody hurts – Helping Haiti 18 18 604K* Empire state of mind broken down – Alicia Keys 19 19 594K Dynamite – Taio Cruz 20 20 592K Your song – Ellie Goulding 21 21 585K The time – Black Eyed Peas 22 22 581K Rude boy – Rihanna 23 23 577K She said – Plan B 24 24 571K* Telephone – Lady Gaga feat Beyonce 25 25 529K Replay – Iyaz 26 26 528K* Make you feel my love – Adele 27 27 511K Club can't handle me – Flo Rida feat David Guetta 28 29 509K Rolling in the deep – Adele 29 28 502K Written in the stars – Tinie Tempah feat Eric Turner 30 33 488K Do it like a dude – Jessie J 31 30 486K Billionaire – Travie McCoy feat Bruno Mars 32 32 483K Cooler than me – Mike Posner 33 31 482K Pack up – Eliza Doolittle 34 34 477K The flood – Take That 35 35 462K Ridin' solo – Jason Derulo 36 36 462K* Don't stop believing – Journey 37 37 461K Don't stop believing – Glee Cast 38 39 447K Teenage dream – Katy Perry 39 38 447K* Bad romance – Lady Gaga 40 44 437K S&M – Rihanna 41 41 428K Not afraid – Eminem 42 42 428K Like a G6 – Far East Movement feat the Cataracs & Devlin 43 40 427K* Starstrukk – 3OH!3 feat Katy Perry 44 43 423K All time low – The Wanted 45 45 406K Promise this – Cheryl Cole 46 48 405K Who's that chick? April 16, 201114 yr Thanks for this. :) Rihanna has 3 songs in the top 10! :o And What's My Name? should overtake OMG in the long run, although I think Pass Out will re-overtake it, as will Price Tag and Grenade, I suspect. Not to mention dozens of other songs yet to be known by us! I think What's My Name? will finish in the top 100 though, unless sales increase drastically year on year, which I don't think will happen. Surely sales will reach a peak in a few years and start decreasing? And I think Someone Like You will overtake When We Collide before Bruno Mars or Eminem do, and I can see it being the actual decade-end #1 tbh. I remember The Fear was #100 in last decade's chart, but how much did it sell, and how does this decade compare so far? Oh, and also, Devlin doesn't feature of Like a G6, it's Dev (from Bass Down Low). :) Edited April 16, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob
April 16, 201114 yr I remember The Fear was #100 in last decade's chart, but how much did it sell, and how does this decade compare so far? The Fear sold 481,500 to become number 100, something that the top 33 in the OP have done Unless sales really fall down in 2013, I think the number 100 of this decade will sell more than last decade Edited April 16, 201114 yr by danielGaGa
April 16, 201114 yr Probably from the above list only Top 20 will make it to the final end of decade list. Singles sales will increase more in coming years.
April 16, 201114 yr Probably from the above list only Top 20 will make it to the final end of decade list. Singles sales will increase more in coming years. Something tells me that 'S&M' will make it through as well, it's on 437k and it's returning to the top 10 this week. It will become a big seller and get in that top 20 of the decade soon - or more likely just miss out but single sales were really good at the start of last decade and dropped a lot in 03/04. More likely anything above 520k will make it through Edited April 16, 201114 yr by danielGaGa
April 16, 201114 yr Well, a lot of what makes it depends on the sales trends in future years. If we're close to a peak in sales, a lot of this list could make it. If sales simply keep increasing for the entire decade, it's possible that only the top 5 could make it. Although, we've done 1 and a quarter years out of 10, so that's 12.5%, which translates to the top 13 of this list making the decade-end top 100. Although songs released at the beginning of the decade have the slight advantage of having years and year to trickle-sell.
