I'm going to settle my Obel BJSC looning - I'm quite certain now that 'Riverside' won't win BJSC XXXIII but hopefully there will be a decent winner. It's interesting because even though everyone who takes part in BJSC are pop fans, the individual tastes are still so diverse. So people will say "song x" should win, yet for me personally, I'm thinking "y'what? that? to win? surely not" :lol:

 

It'll be interesting to see the results tomorrow - it'll give me a good idea of exactly what type of music posters overall tend to vote for. It could really help me understand what's popular for the next contest.

 

I do love 'Riverside' though - I don't care that it doesn't have a UK release, but if it ever becomes a hit in the UK I will of course be delighted. It's also nice to see that I've introduced Agnes Obel to a few others via BJSC who have bought her debut album off the back of listening to 'Riverside'. So even if I don't win, I've still served my purpose. :D

Justice were quite fortunate to get into my chart. When the track was released a fortnight ago, the only version I could find on YouTube was the original version wheras I was trying to find the remixed version that was released - or at least I was under the impression a remixed version had been released. Anyways, I found that version on YouTube a couple of days back so decided to chart it.

 

As for 'Till The World Ends', it's climb follows another odd situation. The song just didn't click with me at all compared to 'Hold It Against Me' but I still liked 'TTWE' enough to chart it. It's continued bubbling for 5 weeks. However, over the weekend a new remix featuring Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha emerged. Personally, I hate the rap sections but thought Ke$ha singing the chorus sounded better than Britney's vocals. So to cut this long story short ( :P ), I created my own version of 'TTWE' combining the best bits of the remix and pasting them into the original version. Now, I have a version of 'TTWE' that doesn't grate on me. :D

Having originally resisted this Beautiful People song, I actually quite like it now! A Kylie Minogue song but chunkier. If chunkier is a suitable word to describe the song. Overall hits, I am glad I decided to look at your chart as it is VERY GOOD.

Look time, no post. :o I can totally understand why you'd be put off listening to a Chris Brown track, purely because it is...a Chris Brown track. :lol: It's the first time I've heard a song with his vocals that haven't grated on me in a "nails running down a blackboard" kinda way. I guess you can use the word "chunkier" to describe the feel of the song.

Well, it's been slowing progressing up my Pre-Release chart anyways for a few weeks so it inevitably going to do well eventually. With the added boost of BJSC XXXIII, now seemed a good week to enter the track. No doubt it'll bomb in the UK but who cares, enough European countries have made it a hit.

Whiny vocals? :lol: Where are the whiny vocals? This must be the first Chris Brown track where I can tolerate his vocals. His vocals are ** gasp ** deep and soulful. Urgh, I never thought I'd praise a Chris Brown song ever again but this really is good. :lol:

 

09 (--) Lady GaGa - Judas (09) [1 wk] Rather low debut for this :o I think the general feeling is that most people are severely underwhelmed with her new material, I guess raising such an impossibly high bar of quality in the first place would always be difficult to follow

 

I really like the chorus to 'Judas' but everything else sounds a bit cluttered and messy. Some people think that about 'Bad Romance' which, imo, is nonsense. 'Bad Romance' is exactly what pop music should sound like - it was textbook, down to a tee and excellent in every way possible. I literally can't fault 'Bad Romance' hence why it managed seven weeks at #1 in my chart. 'Judas' will be lucky to even get one week at no. 1 in my chart, yet alone seven. Is this the peak for 'Judas'? Well, it really all depends on whether the "eagerly awaited" music video can enhance the song in any way. It did wonders for 'Telephone'. :D

 

12 (--) Wretch 32 feat. Example - Unorthodox (12) [1 wk] It's alright, glad it's not set to be a UK #1 though

 

Well, this marks a debut hit for Wretch 32 after 'Traktor' failed to make my top 40 because I thought it was rubbish. Admittedly, first time I heard 'Unorthodox', I wasn't 100% sold on the track but it's been a consistant grower but I feel a peak of #12 is justified for me.

As mentioned above, the version I'm charting is my own "edit" of the Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha remix. I removed all the dreadful rapping from the remix and kept just one element; Ke$ha singing the "I can't take it, take it, take no more..." bit. Then I got Britney's original version and replace Britney's chorus with Ke$ha's. Hence why there is no mention of Nicki Minaj. ;) My version is unique in that nobody else has the version I'm charting, but it's a big improvement on the Britney only version. :D

'Dirty Situation' appeared on the UK release schedule for this week. I didn't even realise it had been released but I decided to chart it regardless. 'Bumpy Ride' is much better whilst I've still not got round to listening to 'Coconut Tree'. I'm sure if it's good enough and it either becomes a hit in the HIT30 (yes, the name of my chart has officially changed :P ) or appears on the UK release schedule then I will chart it.

'Riverside' is indeed lovely, my recent entry into BJSC XXXIII and my first time winning a song contest. :w00t: 'Mr. Saxobeat' has been around since late 2010 when it was no. 1 in Romania. However, when the track entered the HIT30 (see Global Charts forum :P ), Alexandra Stan became eligible to chart for me - I have my own set of chart rules. :lol: Having spend a few weeks moving up my Pre-Release chart the track finally gets its big first week push.

 

As for your vote, I'm not that surprised 'Judas' has collected the most votes but I still don't regard it as a pop masterpiece - it certainly seems unlikely that the track will go to #1 in my chart anyways.

Thanks :D I've already said this a number of times but I genuinely didn't think I would win. After realising this the majority of songs entered into BJSC were uptempo vocal vox pop I thought "oh well, this is what is popular - so much for sending a beautiful ballad". Turns out the ballad stuck out like a sore thumb - or in this case, like a rose between loads of thorns. :lol:

You're right, it is a carbon copy of 'Bad Romance' - just without the "Bad Romance". :D I like the chorus to 'Judas' and other elements to the track which is why I charted it at #9 but it's no pop classic in the making so it won't be bothering the top spot in my chart.

It's Caro's third top 30 hit for me. I would be really happy to see 'A Night Like This' get more recognition in the UK as it's a superb pop track. Now that it's become a hit in Germany and Austria, maybe it will follow suit in the UK.

I'm the complete opposite. :lol: Whilst I did regard this as Katy B's best single to date, the initial buzz wore off quite quickly and now it's just another song to me. I don't have her album - to be honest, nothing makes me want to rush out and buy i - so I can't say what it's like. I would guess that 'Katy On A Mission' is the worst track on the album though.
