August 21, 201113 yr I can't say that when Fljótavík debuted in the contest I expected you to receive anything like the number of points you have from Numayania :o I guess it's because of the shared affection for the 80s. Anyway haven't heard your song yet but I'm really looking forward to it
August 21, 201113 yr Author Fljótavík and Batidas being two of the most noticeable newcomers to BJSC, I just wonder how we're going to fare in BJSC XXXVII. I suspect you'll fare better than me this time - Gotye really isn't Buzzjack material but I always said I'd enter a song I liked regardless of how it'd most likely perform. Then again you weren't so confident with Human Life so there's still a glimmer of hope still in me. :D I think Batidas will do fine, it may struggle to continue the country's infamous run of top 10 finishes but Fljótavík are confident that Gotye will qualify for the final. :D Fljótavík are less confident in their own chances, the combination of foreign language and male vocals are not normally a path to BJSC success.

Anyway haven't heard your song yet but I'm really looking forward to it  I'm not sure it will appeal to Numayania's style as strongly as the previous two entries have if I'm honest. Still, the points received from Numayania in the previous contests have been more than welcome! :D
August 21, 201113 yr Fljótavík are less confident in their own chances, the combination of foreign language and male vocals are not normally a path to BJSC success. FSR Rontvia finished 6th with Eric Amarillo which incorporated foreign language and male vocals into the same package. :D Then again, it was ridiculously catchy in a Scatman John kinda way.

Still, the points received from Numayania in the previous contests have been more than welcome! :D Well I do love foreign language songs. If it's got a synth element, you're still onto a winner :)

If it's got a synth element, you're still onto a winner :) Well, we'll see! It depends how much you like mid 90s Duran Duran... plus, and I'll whisper it... it does have guitars!
August 21, 201113 yr Ah but that it FSR Rontvia, the exception to every rule! :D Not every rule, even I couldn't get away with sending a male rapper to BJSC! I sent Example's Watch The Sun Come Up a few months before he 'broke out' and it managed to finish in the bottom five! I've sent three other songs incorporating a male rap which have finished in the bottom half of the top ten (BJSC 16, 25 and 30) but the solo male rapper is not a recipe for success!

It depends how much you like mid 90s Duran Duran... plus, and I'll whisper it... it does have guitars! Well I love Duran full stop (seeing them in December, can't wait :w00t:) Guitars are OK. As long as they're accompanied by synths
August 22, 201113 yr Why do I always feel like all of the Fljótavíkian entries are sponsored by SHOAT?! So MoR for me, I can neither like nor hate them :(
August 22, 201113 yr On what planet is Wherever We Are MOR? On mine apparently :heehee: Edited August 22, 201113 yr by Ljósið
August 22, 201113 yr Yeah I don't hear the MOR. Watch The World Go By isn't MOR either, it's just melodic.
August 22, 201113 yr I don't know, they all seem so SOUNDLESS and coma inducing :( Says the person who loves Interleave by Win Win
August 22, 201113 yr Author TSSSSK. I think the word you are looking for is SUBTLE. Which yes they do tend to be, I just don't generally like brash pop I'm afraid. I don't think (before Ljusår) any of them could really be described as MoR or soundless either, I do think Ljusår is quite a nice little song but I can totally accept that it could easily have been played on mid 90s radio! (if mid 90s radio had ever touched foreign language tracks)
August 22, 201113 yr I don't know, they all seem so SOUNDLESS and coma inducing :( Says the person who loves Interleave by Win Win Take this as a compliment Dandy*. Pavel said I was BLAND in 2010. If 'Watch The World Go By' is "coma inducing" then WOOP!!! Go me.

August 22, 201113 yr Your songs are always rather odd! Watch The World Go By didn't "click" with me until the final results were being presented, so I felt bad about not giving it points then. Wherever We Are was fantastic, too! Ljusår is quite 90s, so I adore it. :heehee:
August 22, 201113 yr Author Really? If just one person likes it or at least keeps the mp3 then I shall be happy! Ha at my choices being 'odd' though! I guess they don't really fit in with what everyone else is sending, although they're actually the more commercial side of my tastes I think. :o
August 22, 201113 yr Just listening to Ljusår in full for the first time now, it's rather wonderful! Shame I can't vote for it, but fingers crossed it makes the final! It certainly deserves to be there :D
August 22, 201113 yr Author Yay Ghosty! I was disappointed when I saw we were in separate semi finals as I did think you may enjoy it more than most people would, ah well!
