Interesting discussion. I don't have anything against Kopecka and FSR Rontvia dominating every month/year. If they send tracks enjoyed by the majority then kudos to them.

From a Batidas point of view, I'd say all (bar one) of our entries have been pop to some extent. The only that imo is the least pop entry I've entered is 'Soldier' which DNQ.

Maybe the success of Kopecka and FSR Rontvia purely lies in them sending what are essentially pop songs - they enjoy them but they're quite accessible so can be enjoyed without giving the song in question much thought (eg; mundane lyrics that require no effort in analysing).

That's my opinon anyways. :D

Backhanded compliment of the day

I think 95% of BJSC entries have generic mundane lyrics to be honest but I've always freely admitted on this forum that I'm far more about the melody than the lyrics personally. The likes of Lise Karlsnes and Sheelah might not be Shakespeare but the melodies are top notch, I won't send anything that I don't find personally catchy and memorable, although obviously that's subjective.

I don't force anybody to vote for my entries, however I do hugely appreciate the massive support that FSR Rontiva have always got in this contest and I hope it more reflects the quality of the music that I'm sending and less reflects my personal 'profile' on Buzzjack

I should've phrased that better. What I meant was the tracks that have won this year (except 'Video Games' and dare I say it 'Riverside') have typical pop lyrics. There's nothing wrong at all with that. I don't think 'All My Life' for example had genius lyrics but what it did have was an excellent melody and a catchy chorus. Sometimes these are the only ingredients needed to craft the perfect pop song.

So yes, I agree with GD on those points. :D
