Posted May 5, 201114 yr The university is cutting courses from 557 to 160 from September. It said it aims to give students more value for money and to stop so many quitting courses early. Undergraduates have been promised more teaching time and fees will be relatively low, at about £6,850. But history, philosophy, performing arts and Caribbean studies will be among subjects axed. Some current students will have to move to other universities to complete their studies, while school leavers who applied for the courses now being shut down face a desperate search for places at different institutions. Students occupied the finance department last year to fight higher tuition fees. The university went to the High Court to get them evicted. May 5, 201114 yr And what's with the "blahhblahhblahh" by the way...? Howabout you wake up and realise that it's actually a serious issue... Almost 400 courses being cut..??? Students being "shifted" to other universities and given no warning that their courses will no longer be taught..?? This is just a symptom of how f**ked up things are under the Con-Dem's higher education policies.....
May 5, 201114 yr Caribbean Studies. What the actual f***. Yeah, concentrate on that one Rooney, not on the other 390-odd such as Performing Arts, Creative Writing... History is looking very much under threat too...
May 5, 201114 yr Yeah, concentrate on that one Rooney, not on the other 390-odd such as Performing Arts, Creative Writing... History is looking very much under threat too... Hundreds of other Universities do the same subjects. Is there any wonder really? The competition for places is so high, that I doubt a lot of these course (possibly History aside) are never close to being of full capactity. I feel sorry for the students that are losing their course who are already studying there, but that's about all the sympathy LMU gets for me.

I feel sorry for the students that are losing their course who are already studying there, but that's about all the sympathy LMU gets for me. Well, that's what it's about at the end of the day... It's hardly the students' fault that the Vice Chancellors have been corrupt, thieving b'astards is it...? So, yet again we have a situation where a few idiots at the top of the hierarchy f/uck it all up for everyone else... Blimey, could be a microcosm for the state of the economy as a whole really.... It's all very well for these arseholes to say "you can transfer", but, where to, exactly...? Nearest one for a similar Performing Arts course is Kingston, which is in SURREY, and anyone transferring over there would have to repeat the first year, as it turns out because the credits they've already go won't actually transfer to the other course... Nice little scam there innit...?
May 5, 201114 yr So they'll be running around than 30% of their current courses? That seems like suicide, what the hell will happen to the entire university infrastructure that's built for thousands more students than will be attending?

They'd likely have to sell a few of the buildings off I'd imagine.....
May 5, 201114 yr I almost chose to go here next year :o thank God I cancelled the choice at the last minute ^_^ I fully support the students protesting and not 'blahblahblah', this place sounds like a real $h!t-hole- I went there on an open day, and even the area isn't very nice
May 5, 201114 yr Author So you all know, I'm one of the students currently in occupation at London Met Uni. If any of you had bothered to watch the video, you'd have seen me.

And how would I know what you look like.....? :P And if you hadn't used the term "blahblahblah", then perhaps I wouldn't have thought you were just being some flippant moron about it.....
