Not really. The forum is about anything media-related. The name of the contest is ISC. Or did you find the song there? :P

I've never heard of ISC. I tend to look at European charts for new potential Batidas entries. 'Soldier' is charting in Belguim at the moment which is how I discovered the track.

I hope I don't fall victim to the infamous "wrong semi" voting pact. :(

Ashton DEAD. Riots IGNORED.

The results of the BJSC IXL semi finals have been announced and Batidas have once again failed to qualify for the final.

This has put major pressure on Batidas HQ to discover an entry that can put us back in the running. Pure pop didn't work in our favour last month. Now pure indie hasn't worked in our favour this month. What are Batidas doing so wrong? :D

Our other contenders this month were:

Inna Modja - French Cancan

Imany - You Will Never Know

...but alas Batidas decided to go with Amatorski. We are now absoluely stumped and haven't a clue where this leaves us next month.

Fljótavík feel bad. :/

Don't listen to me next time (although I still really like it!)

It's just a gutting feeling knowing that quite a few posters in SF2 had said they liked the song. I'm almost sure I would've qualified in that semi. Just those pesky POP FANZ. :P

Maybe it's an age thing (ie; if I was 20 years old I'd understand) but for the second month in a row several tracks have made the final and I just don't see anything special about them at all. :(

I'm quite disappointed. Soldier was much better than Erase You, and it's really haunting and made me think (a little). Didn't deserve to DNQ. :(

You and UnoShake should have swapped places, both of you were horribly in the wrong semi.

Hopefully Batidas can come back next time.

Aww, thanks for the kind comments. :D

I thought Batidas were making our triumphant return this month.

That said, here are three very important quotes:

Can we introduce a wildcard round when songs fail to qualify in their semi final, the people from the other semi have to listen to them and vote for their faves? The one with the most votes makes the final. 28 + 2 wild card tracks = Final of 30? :D

No. Ok then!!! :(

That's a good idea actually. The logistics would be a bit of a bitch but still...

As host of BJSC IXL, I nominate you to action this. :D

Would be a potential turnaround for Batidas. There's easily a good 60 points Batidas could get which would surely not place us bottom of the final scoreboard.

Urgh, I'm delusional. :drama: (DNQ is not fun :( )

I'm 0000.1% hopeful of a "BJSC big twist" happening at some point during the week ** ahem ** :o

Like I say, deluded.

Rontvian icon Delta Goodrem performs popular Batidas entry live in Constarvan

An indication of Delta's new musical direction? The Australian singer, who represented FSR Rontvia in the very first edition of BJSC with the magnificent Believe Again (which finished 17th :nocheer:) returned to FSR Rontvia last night to perform in front of a sold out crowd in the capital city Constarvan. She performed Rontvian #1 singles In This Life and Born To Try but the highlight was arguably a stripped back but gorgeous cover of the recent Batidas #1 and Rontvian top 40 hit Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and Kimbra.

The beautiful version of this song will be released to download in FSR Rontvia immediately and iTunes is already reportedly crashing as a response of 10,000% increased traffic since the announcement was made.

 How very interesting. :D

I can't believe 'Believe Again' only finished 17th in BJSC. It's such a brilliant anthemic ballad. Then again, 'Somebody That I Used To Know' finished 13th for Batidas so... :drama:

Listening to Delta's version now and the best thing about it is that it ISN'T a duet between Delta and Brian McFadden. :D

FSR Rontvia's #1 single next week? :o Fasting selling single of 2011 on Rontvia iTunes? :D

To be fair, I wasn't fully clued up on the rules at the time and sent a live on Australian Idol version of Believe Again, perhaps the studio version would have done better  I doubt it would have done that much better though, cheap ruled back then :(

It's a lovely version, I love the arrangement and her voice suits it perfectly. The only thing that really stopped the original from being huge on my chart is that Gotye's voice isn't fully to my taste, maybe I just needed to hear a cover of it to set the song free, and who better to provide the cover :P

BJSC really was strange wasn't it in its early days? Mikey entered 'Bittersweet Symphony' in BJSC III. I'm sure that was a REAL discovery for everyone taking part. :D

Hence why I didn't bother with Sabrina Washington 'OMG' in last months contest. Granted it wasn't that well known but I knew it, and didn't like it. It was ultimately an instant "delete from mp3 pack" moment.

I'm sort of guilty of that myself, I entered Andreas Johnson's Glorious to the third contest, not exactly unknown but at least it wasn't as ubiquitous as Bittersweet Symphony or some of the other early entries (Maneater, Bring Me To Life, Say You'll Be There, The Final Countdown, a few Sugababes #1's...). Still, my other 38 entries were a lot more inspired thankfully  I guess none of us really knew any better until about BJSC VI which was the real turning point of the contest, where the more inspired entries really began to dominate.

...and for that we should be thankful. :D

Just think if everyone continued to just enter tracks we already knew, nobody might've had the chance to discover some of my own entries like 'Riverside', 'Black Video' and 'Promises'. We'd also never have discovered tracks like 'Video Games' (not at least back in August anyways), 'Watch The World Go By' or 'I Took A Little Something' as being some of my fave 12 pointers from BJSC that I hadn't already heard/known via Europe.

It's just a shame that it took you so long to join up to BJSC in the first place! I assured you it wasn't as complicated as it looks to an outsider but I'm glad you decided to join eventually :P

I've had many many great discoveries over the years, I should probably update my top 50 BJSC discoveries countdown at some point as there have been 3 or 4 potential top 10 additions this year alone.

It's true.

I rememeber venturing into the BJSC forum not long after I joined Buzzjack. Didn't understand anything and left thinking "what?". :D I'm not sure what exactly happened in April that persuaded me to join. Maybe it was Dandy* who might have hinted joining the same month and us saying we'd just help each other out. Then after all that, Dandy* still didn't send an entry when I sent 'Riverside'. :drama:

Hendinia have the honours of hosting BJSC XL after their victory in last months contest. They have announced full details of the semi finals with Batidas being drawn 17th in SF1.

Representing Batidas this month is 24 year old part South-African/part Zimbabwean London based singer songwriter Kyla La Grange with 'Heavy Stone'. Kyla is being tipped to become the UK’s next big female solo artist having already built up a loyal dedicated fan base following performances including Glastonbury 2011 on the Greenpeace stage.

It's also the final BJSC of 2011 so Batidas hope to continue producing the goods in 2012.
