January 24, 201213 yr But just a question to everyone now: if what they're putting out at the moment isn't their best work, then what sort of stuff SHOULD they be doing musically? Well, I dunno about anyone else, but I'd like them to try their hand at synthesized banjo funk personally. I hear it's big in Asia and I THINK it could work for them.
January 24, 201213 yr And that's the difference here, at least in America people are really willing their own that have been successful and have worked hard to do well, they're like, 'Yeah, go for it, AND go for it!', whereas over here in Britain the press and certain sections of the industry are such negative the greatest girl band in the world that are willing to cut you down the minute you have been successful. Marvin's said in interviews loads of times that they want to keep going for as long as Take That and BSB have been going, and that they've made sure to learn from mistakes those bands and others made with falling out with each other, splitting up and launching solo careers that go nowhere etc. And that's why they have been so successful, because they learn from others and they've stayed grounded as a unit. As I keep saying, yes, their sound probably does need a bit of a shake up for this next album - and looking at the current rollcall of people they're working with in LA over on their Twitter (Babyface is a name being mentioned quite a bit by Oritse? That should be good, he's done some brilliant songs in the past) I imagine it will do - but they do have their sound, and to mock them for what they do when they do it rather well a lot of the time is to miss the point entirely. You seem very naive to me if you think the American media and people don't act in the same way as the media and people act around the world. They might keep going for as long as TT and BSB but they will never be as successful. You say they have 'been so successful'? have they really? They might have 5 number 1s (a mixture of well timed releases and charity singles) which dropped heavily after the first week or two, and they have only sold 3 million records since they started up and have never sold a single record outside of the UK and Ire. Hardly what you would call 'So successful'. With a name like babyface producing and writing for them i cant hold out much hope for any improvement. To me its just JLS banging their own drum again saying that this album will be their best yet etc etc etc which every artists says to build up hype and then it will be the same old again. Until they bring out a song that will last the test of time ie. I Want it That way, Backstreets Back, Back For Good and Never Forget they will just be another bland boyband who will run out of ideas when their teenage girl audience grows up and realises there is much more to music than JLS Edited January 24, 201213 yr by jay727
January 25, 201213 yr First of all, JLS have nothing to do with SyCo Music, they're signed to Epic Records. That's point one. And point two, since when did a 3rd platinum album i.e. 300,000 copies equal a flop? I suppose that makes every other artist with a platinum album a flop then? OK maybe by their previous albums' sales it's slightly less than usual but calling it a flop is pushing it a bit, it was #2 as well. And why does everyone keep bashing them up about 'The Club Is Alive'? It was coming on two years ago now, yes it hasn't held up as well as the other two singles from 'Outta This World' have but it wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sorry, I thought they were on Syco - due to being on the X Factor. Regardless of label name, their record company will be keen to maximise their exposure following their poorest performing single which did badly even on their standards. If you read my last post again, you should realise I never said the album was a flop (I was referring to their single) and I mentioned that their album sales were mediorce. 300,000 is satisfactory, its not great but its ok.

Yes exactly! especially when you see that their 1st album sold a million, and their second album sold half a million. Their album sales are declining.
March 18, 201213 yr 'Proud' is out today then - already at 13 on iTunes...I downloaded Labrinth's single as well last night so I don't mind who gets number 1 out of either of them cos' I love both the songs and acts. Loads of TV promo coming up for them next week in between their tour dates as well - they're on Blue Peter and Loose Women and of course all the Sport Relief coverage over next weekend (including their gala gig of their tour at the O2 which is on BBC Three next Saturday, which I'm going to). Speaking of the tour has anyone else been yet? I've seen the costumes in a few of the papers in the last week and they look a bit OTT! Very futuristic and mad, looks like it'll be a good show!
