- Is Italy back for good?

- If so, will the final have 26 countries (Azerbaijan + big 5 + 20 qualifiers)?

- Will Liechtenstein debut?

- What countries may whitdraw? (Poland? Slovakia?)

- What countries may be back? (Czech Republic? Montenegro?)

- Due to Azerbaijan's local time difference to CET, can it start at a different time than the usual 21:00 CET?

- I presume so from the rumblings that have been occurring

- If so, yes. It's not unworkable - a precedent has been set on this as they had 26 in 2003.

- Possibly but unlikely. They seem to be a nation that eternally gets rumoured to enter.

- Armenia and Slovakia seem likely.

- Czech Republic yes, Montenegro unlikely.

- It wouldn't surprise me to see a 20:00 CET start to accommodate Azeri time, but I believe they didn't accommodate Moscow time so it's unlikely.

Italy are hopefully back for good, considering they came 2nd. Even if they fail next year, a 2nd place this year should hopefully secure a couple of years, and more respectable results will secure more. I think they'll up the final to 26, not like it would be the first final with 26.

I don't see why they'd change the start time. Yes they're hosting, but it would be the same time as locals watched it at since they debuted. If they brought it forward an hour, wouldn't it be starting at 6pm in Iceland and over before 9:30pm which sounds early.

Might they drop back to a 24 song final with 9 qualifiers from each? (hopefully not)

Also, random comment but how much were the ESC results like a typical BJSC results show this year points wise, nothing anywhere near nul points, no runaway winner but everything scoring respectably highly, even the flops just because of completely different tastes from everywhere. I don't recall any Eurovision results with the songs in the middle/bottom third scoring so well :o

They indeed didn't do anything when it was Moscow's time to host and Baku is only +1 from Moscow so i don't think anything will change.

Azerbaija is the east-est country in ESC :o

I think a drop down to about 16 would be an improvement. There also needs to be a way to speed up the voting process - taking about an hour is too long.
I don't think it makes much difference whether it goes back to 24 songs tbh. Only a case of getting rid of Switzerland and Moldova for this year's show. And you think Armenia may withdraw Tyron? I can't see it myself... In fact, I fully expect them, and Turkey, to come back with absolute belters next year after this year's flops.

Don't they have a political issue with Azerbaijan?

Turkey will definitely up their game, they can't rely on average now. It's about time Russia upped their game too, kudos for getting the best pop producer in the world to give them a song but at least next time check that it's not b-side quality at best first

Well, Armenians are forbidden from entering Azerbaijan.

I think Armenia will still at least intend to take part - whether they actually do or not, I'm not sure. Surely if it says that it'll compete next year, the EBU can't let Azerbaijan forbid it? In fact, the allure of Armenia doing well on what it'll see to be 'enemy territory' could very well make it want to go even more.

Oh I forgot about this. :o I should think they will withdraw then won't they... I didn't realise it was that bad though, that they couldn't enter the country!

I'd like to see 9 through from each semi + the big 5 + Azerbaijan then one further qualifier being chosen by a jury vote from the two semi finals: 18 + 5 + 1 + 1

Maybe a bit too much :D?

I remember someone posting that some of the Azeris were interrogated because they voted for Armenia in 2009. Insanity.

I work with an armenian and shall ask him about this tomorrow. :o

Plus Azerbaijan fined for allegedly provoking interferences during its transmission of the Armenian performance that year.

This is Eurovision Song Contest organized by EBU. No way Azerbaijan can forbid Armenia from entering the competion as ARM is a member of EBU.

Whether they decide to enter or not is a different story.

I'd like Luxembourg and Morocco to return :D

I read about Morocco being part of Eurovision (many moons ago granted). How exactly? You can justify Azerbaijan part of Europe (part of Middle East specifically, but Middle East isn't one of the recognised six continents?) but Morocco is clearly part of Africa!

What's the dealio with Luxembourg anyway? Why have they boycotted it for so long?
