Abel Korzeniowski on W.E. Soundtrack

W.E. could be my best score so far. Madonna really let me spread my wings and soar.

FYI: None of William Orbit’s music is used in Madonna’s W.E.

Apparently, the source of some confusion is Orbit’s old interview, where he comments on a very early cut of W.E.: “I’ve done two pieces of score music for the film”. That information is outdated. Please consider updating your blogs and reviews, and I hope you’ll enjoy the movie :)

First promotional stills for ''W.E.''

And here are the first four promotional stills for Madonna's "W.E" and how the Toronto International Film Festival announces the movie, set to premiere in North America as part of their Gala Presentations:

Second-time director Madonna returns with W.E., featuring Abbie Cornish as Wally Winthrop, a woman in 1998 who is infatuated with the 1930s marriage of King Edward VIII (James D'Arcy) and American divorcée Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough). Spanning six decades, W.E. gracefully weaves the past and present into two parallel love stories.

Madonna by Abbie Cornish

W.E. actress Abbie Cornish spoke to the Mail Online about working with Madonna:

Madonna’s one of the smartest women I’ve ever come across.

You need to be totally switched on to the news and current affairs to talk to her - she asks you questions all the time and expects you to be up on everything that’s going on, from Libya to the latest advances in technology. Her mind never stops working. She’s also very funny. She tells a lot of good jokes. She is one of the coolest women on the planet.

I didn’t know what to think when I met her but she was everything you expect and don’t expect at the same time. The biggest thing that surprised me about her was how much she includes you in her life and her family when you work with her. I hung out with the children and we’d talk about everything from shoes to the state of the world.

My most surreal memory of working with Madonna is the stylish way she finishes a shoot - with a Cosmopolitan.

Standing next to her after a day’s shoot and drinking a Cosmo - I mean, it doesn’t get better than that. Even though we’ve finished filming we still keep in touch. I have her email address and we send messages. Madonna likes to email

Vera Farmiga on W.E. & Madonna

And at one point, you were going to be in the Madonna-directed W.E.?

Yes. Madonna and I had met several times. We wanted to embark on that working relationship, and then I got knocked up! My expanding waistline was not gonna cut it. But it was nice to shoot the shit with Madonna.

"I was always intrigued by the story of the King who gave up the throne for the woman he loved. Why did he do it and what was so special about Wallis Simpson? I wanted to tell it from a modern day point of view, so I created the story of Wally - a young woman trapped in an unhappy marriage. She knows she has to change her life and begins this journey from darkness to light with Wallis as her spiritual guide. Wallys obsession with the love story of Wallis and the King is ultimately what saves her. She lives vicariously through this historical romance. Though it seems childish and obsessive, it forces Wally to ask questions, take risks and take charge of her life. To take the road less travelled. And eventually find freedom."
