This is what you've been waiting for. Over the past few weeks you've been voting for your favourite song that went to number one in the 1980s, and a final 50 was made and you've been voting for it. Also, we are not doing 00s Number Twos Rate next, but we are doing 21st Century Number Twos Rate (which is 00s Number Twos but with 2010 and 2011 added into an extra round)

This means we'll be going forward to the 21st Century and seeing songs by Kylie Minogue, Oasis, P!nk, Girls Aloud, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Kelis, Elvis Presley, Adele, Robbie Williams, Rihanna, Eric Prydz, Take That, Manic Street Preachers, The Saturdays and more!

50 - Duran Duran "The Reflex" (1984) (-01)

The first song to score minus points in the final is this here, which became DD's second number one hit and spent four weeks at the top. It was also their last number one, but they went on to score a further 6 T10 hits.

49 - Paul Hardcastle "19" (1985) (+00)

This did get some voters but some negative votes got this down to no points at all. This was the first and only number one for Paul, which spent 5 weeks at the top. "19" was the first of Paul's 4 T40 hits. The song recently re-entered the charts at number 40 thanks to Man United winning 19 titles.

48 - David Bowie "Let's Dance" (1983) (+02)

This is David Bowie's fourth number one out of five (his last number one is 'Dancing In The Street' with Mick Jagger). This spent three weeks at number one (being the only Bowie song to do so - all his other songs spent 2 weeks at the top except DITS which spent 4[/uselesschartfact]) David Bowie has two more appearances on the countdown with 'Under Pressure' and 'Ashes To Ashes'

47 - Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Relax" (1984) (+03)

This has really flopped hard in this game compared to what happened in the UK. This song is the 7th best selling song of all time and if you look at its chart run, you'll see why. It spent 5 weeks at number one, 19 weeks T10, and 63 in the T100 which didn't happen often back in those days.

46 - Foreigner "I Want To Know What Love Is" (1985) (+06)

We come to our first tie in this game, and this loses out. This was the second and last T10 hit for them, and their most successful as it spent three weeks at number one. It was covered by Mariah Carey in 2009, but her version wasn't very successful, spending a week in the T40 at 19 before quickly falling down.

45 - Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Two Tribes" (1984) (+06)

This band again, this time with the longest runner at the top of the 1980s - spending nine weeks there. After this they only had one more number one ('The Power Of Love') but had four further T10 hits (two of those being re-issues of their number ones)

44 - Blondie "Call Me" (1980) (+07)

The first of two entries for Blondie, 'Atomic' is yet to come and is likely to chart in the top half of the results. This song was the fourth of six number ones for her, including the surprise comeback in 1999. "Call Me" only spent a week at number one before falling to 3.

43 - Culture Club "Karma Chameleon" (1983) (+09)

Culture Club, famous for their lead singer Boy George got their second and final number one with this song, which spent 6 weeks at number one. "Karma Chameleon" is the fourth out of nine T10 hits for the club

42 - ABBA "Super Trouper" (1980) (+10)

Massive group ABBA scored their ninth and last number one hit with this song, it was also their seventeenth out of nineteen T10 hits for them. Their other number one of 1980, "The Winner Takes It All" is yet to feature in this countdown.

41 - Pet Shop Boys "Heart" (1988) (+12)

The fourth and last number one for the Boys, all their other number ones will feature on this countdown. It is their least remembered number one and it is shown in these results.

I love Heart and I prefer it to West End Girls - which I never liked.

Bleh - how did Foreigner get 6 points? None of my faves have appeared yet, but I have a hunch I'll be seeing a lot of them in the next batch.

Thanks for organising this Daniel, I will probably find it difficult to do 21st century number 2's - they pretty much all are number 2's as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad that Frankie Goes To Hollywood did rubbish here. No idea how they managed to do so well in this game - maybe you had to be there at the time?!

I like Heart too - didn't vote for it but it's probably my favourite of their #1s. No doubt the others will all be top 20 though.

I'm glad Foreigner made it to the final tbh I wasn't expecting it to be liked here on Buzzjack  21st Century number 2s should be OK, although I do hope its not too predictable - if Katy Perry wins, I might hit something -_-

personally I wouldn't do 2011 as we're currently in it and there could be new number 2s by the time you're doing the results, plus there's only been three number 2s

edit: I see your combining them, sorry

My last-second (ish) point saved Paul Hardcastle from finishing on minus points :o

Surprised to see both FGTH songs finishing so low!

Boo! This $h!t was one of the songs which prevented Starship to reach the final round.

Madonna's True Blue was the only one song without getting to 100 points which got through to the final round, but it's still to come.

None of my fave's have been listed so far so this list is getting a thumbs up from me!

40 - Madonna "True Blue" (1986) (+13)

This is the first of 5 Madonna songs in the countdown. It spent a week at number one before spending two weeks at 2 behind not so liked 'Every Loser Wins'.

39 - Adam & The Ants "Stand And Deliver" (1981) (+14)

This was the first number one for Adam and his ants and the fifth T10 hit out of seven. Adam also scored another three T10 hits including a number one on his own as 'Adam Ant'.
