Last contest we got our highest placed song in the final, going to #4 with Colleen D'Agostino and deadmau5. So what better way to celebrate than to set ourselves a new record! :magic: Yes, the song placed 33rd, which is our lowest entry ever in a final, overtaking the previous low set by Ruffneck, Yavahn and Lucas & Steve who placed 31st last year. Of course helped by the expanded final. In fact, if the 12 point system was used, we would have finished 30th instead. Although we'd rather flop in style than just flop so we're happy for our 33rd position. It emerges that the song comfortably qualified too, finishing 7th in its semi final when even finishing 20th would have been enough to get through.

 

Kylienips are the winners of this contest, for the first time in their 75-long contest history, that is every single edition of BJSC. In comparison Danaelanda have competed in just under half of the contests (our next (38th) entry will be the contest where we officially have competed in exactly half of all BJSCs). The song in question is 'Sorry' by Meg Myers. Myers previously entered twice, DNQing for Zechonia and finishing 28th in the final for Isconia.

 

This one is arguably one of the most successful songs in recent BJSC history, it is in fact the first song to score over 400 points in a single contest. However they only scored 231 points when scaled down to the 12-point system, a number which has been beaten under that system (Blonde 'I Loved You'). Despite being so popular throughout Buzzjack, it didn't fare so well with the Danaelandan audience however, finishing 33rd in the final mobile app voting. Nonetheless we congratulate Kylienips and look forward to the next contest which will be hosted in said country.

 

In second place is Etienne De Crécy 'You', represented by Espen, their highest position to date and a big return to success after a series of flops. We really took to the song and gave it 15 points. The top 3 gets even better as you go down though, as #00274E finish 3rd with CamelPhat 'Paradigm', which got 18 points from us. Daehun get yet another top 5 with Karin Park 'Stick To The Lie' at #4 and Unovia get their second top 5 hit in a row with Grace 'You Don't Own Me'.

 

After a big underperformance last month we were unsure how Kathaldazia would recover. They seem to have done it well though as they return to the final in sixth, their first top 10 since Michael Calfan 'Prelude'. Also in the top 10 Jadakissnia get their first top 10 hit with their second entry. The other two qualifying class of '74 countries also out-peak their debuts, with Cor Lupus flopping in 13th and Aprogonia smashing it in 26th. Still no qualifier for Flynnoda sadly.

 

Triangledonia also get a new peak with their second entry to make the final, Halsey 'Ghost (Lost Kings Remix)' doesn't quite match the position of her previous entry but finishes in a solid 14th. Tartford don't quite match their previous peak but get their second-highest position, 23rd, after Maria Hazell finished 22nd for them previously, meaning their top 2 successful entries are by the same artist. A bit like San Marino and Valentina Monetta, except she only qualified once lol.

Just goes to show that someone who scrapes qualifying can still do well and vice versa a well qualifed entry can flop in the final! I wonder if there's been potential bangers in the past that missed qualifying by a single hair and would have possibly even reached the top 10!

Danaelanda have second BJFest flop

 

In our second attempt at Buzzjackfestivalen we once again fail to make the final or even the second chance round, as TCTS finish 9th in our heat. Fortunately this is just a buzz entry for a spin-off contest so our qualifying streak has not been ruined. We will be back on top form for BJSC 76 anyway, very much looking forward to that now.

About Heir (aka Skogsrå)

 

The Huldra is a seductive forest creature found in Scandinavian folklore (her name derives from a root meaning "covered" or "secret"). In Swedish folklore, her name roughly translates to "the Forest Spirit", but in the native tongue she is known as — Skogsrå.

 

The Skogsrå is a stunningly beautiful, naked woman with long hair; though from behind she is hollow like an old tree trunk, with an animal's tail.

As survivors have testified, the Skogsrå seduces young men into her forest, rewarding those who satisfy her while killing those who do not. One who has spent a night with the Skogsrå will most likely find himself taciturn and incommunicative - for his soul is forever surrendered to her.

Oliver Nelson has been around for a while, notable in Danaelanda for his remixes of Ella Henderson 'Ghost' and Whitney Houston 'How Will I Know', both which were big in the Danaelandan charts. He's no stranger to BJSC either, having been formerly entered by Aquafina with his remix of SomeKindaWonderful 'Reverse', and he also got sent to UP with his remix of Ariana & The Rose 'In Your Bed'. Anyway this is his FIRST original song and Danaelanda are glad to have sent it as it's really something amazing.

 

The featured artist Skogsrå also previously got sent to BJSC by Syndare with 'Now You See Me'. However on this song he uses the alias Heir.

Current status: QUALIFICATION

 

so it looks like Danaelanda have qualified yet again with our 38th BJSC entry, also our 9th in a row. With #00274E abandoning the contest, this puts us in joint second place in the current leaderboard for consecutive qualifications alongside contest rivals Aquafina. Daehun still leads with 17 consecutive qualifications, and we are secretly hoping they put a foot wrong soon so that we can finally be top at something :kink:

So yeah we kinda flopped again. Time to re-evaluate our BJSC strategy I guess. Though I don't regret entering this song because it's a proper *tune*. The song didn't even perform that well in the semis, finishing 16th which would have landed us a DNQ in the old era. There was even a time where finishing 15th would result in a DNQ (which happened to us annoyingly).

 

Aquafina got their first win this contest with Sigala 'Easy Love', which broke the points record by getting 477 points, and also became the 2nd most successful song of all time in BJSC (behind Sheelah 'The Last Time' as entered by FSR Rontvia). It is their second medal position, after Max Elto gave them a bronze medal a few contest ago with 'Somebody Like You'. With this contest Aquafina are also invited to the dance bloc thus properly ending any Danaelanda-Aquafinian political tension.

 

Tinnmark finish 2nd with a lot less points than Aquafina, but 359 points is still a massive achievement, and it gives them their highest place and 3rd medal position after the bronze medalists 'Come Into The Night' (Velvet) and 'Some Die Young' (Laleh). After finishing last in the semi in the previous contest this is quite the comeback.

 

Aeroche complete the top 3 with 'Hurts' (Kove feat. Moko) meaning that both of our top 2 are in the top 3 for a second contest in a row. 'Hurts' was our favourite entry of the contest with 'Easy Love' not far behind in our affections. The top 5 are completed by Hendinia and Persephonia.

 

Other top 10 news; Greenfroze get their first top 10 hit since 'Release You' (Megan & Liz) 2 years ago. Cor Lupus get their first ever top 10 hit in their third contest and Mulgracia get their first top 10 under their new name.

We have also confirmed that we will be sending Stone & Van Linden - Summerbreeze to YBO Rejects. The song originally did very poorly, finishing 24th in its semi final, and also missed out on a place in the TBO semi finals. We hope justice can be served for the song in this contest.

Spinnin' Records held a contest for new talent to remix 'Jammu'.

The winner was Vülkyria's own KYFRA.

 

Kyfra's remix was the most well produced remix I heard. He kept the spirit of JAMMU while evoking a new level of emotion and not relying too heavily on the existing melodies in the track.
