Calling 'Shatter Me' a dance entry in the same sentence as the rest of those seems off (I know it could technically be called 'dance' due to vague dubstep elements but it's not exactly the first genre that comes to mind and it certainly sounds nothing like the rest of the 'dance entries'). Shatter Me sounds very dance imo, plus it's in the dance forum. iTunes thinks its pop though but I'd prefer not to associate it with that genre :)

Seve fails to qualify

 

Predictably, our entry fails to qualify in the latest BJSC, finishing 20th out of 28, with a total of 49 points. It is our 15th DNQ out of 28 entries. Fortunately the entry did not finish in the bottom 7 of the semi so at least we can kinda be proud of our entry. Even more heartbreaking than our entry flopping though is the entry of Republic of Adonia also failing to qualify. 'Hear Your Heart (Tontario Edit)' finished 17th with 53 points, 12 of which came from Danaelanda. The song currently sits at #5 in the dTunes chart.

 

Anyway here were the votes from our public televote. In a first, televoters voted in both semis, however votes in semi 2 did not count and people could vote free of charge (to vote in semi 1 costs you §0.15 + your standard message rate}

Aeroche beautifully win their fifth contest

Alliance country Aeroche win their fifth contest with A. G. Cook's "Beautiful". The song peaked top 10 in our official chart and got 10 points from us. Those points weren't needed as the song would have won without them, providing that we didn't give Jamvale any more than 3 points, but I'm sure they'll appreciate the fact that we voted as it allows them to finish with over 200 points, 206 to be exact. That is 206 more points than we scored in tonight's final, as we failed to qualify. It is not the first time Cook has been entered. In BJSC LIX (October last year), he remixed Dreamtrak's "Odyssey, Part 2" for Terra Avium and they finished 16th.

 

Three of our alliance countries who were also in the #nontop10alliance score their first top 10s tonight, thus breaking the #nontop10alliance, but still keeping their official alliance status with Danaelanda. Those are Jamvale, Ethanola and Yehesi who finish 2nd, 3rd and 7th with their entries. We voted for all of them.

 

Oslol finish 4th with "Super Love". Unfortunately this is fourth from first and not fourth from last. Finishing the top 5 is Allecian with "Armenian Girl". We gave 8 points to them, but this did not affect their final position. Trifoski finish 6th and Seyetana, Fljotavik and N DNTN complete the top 10.

This month Birmingham producer Ben Hall, known as BH, will be representing the country in our 29th contest with 'Hold On', which features Aloma Steele of Vancouver. BH has remixed big club hits such as 3LAU's How You Love Me and Tritonal's Colours, and now he is representing us with his own song. Listen below:

 

BH holds Danaelanda on to DNQ

 

As expected, Danaelanda fail to qualify with latest effort 'Hold On' by BH featuring Aloma Steele. We finished 18th out of 30 songs and we scored 51 points. This means only 2 countries scored more than us and DNQed. They were Oslol and FSR Rontvia.

 

High points came from Cadelicia, Farahtyn and alliance country Jamvale who gave us 8 points each. Cadelicia are currently on the potentials list for countries to make an alliance with. Farahtyn and Danaelanda currently don't have any political relations, but their points are appreciated nonetheless.

 

All the songs that we voted for qualified. However if we could vote for a top 15 then that wouldn't be the case so commiserations go to Quintessa, Kylienips, Ajanaeda and FSR Rontvia.

 

Notably missing from our top 15 is Ethanola who send their worst entry to date. It appears at #19 in the ranking here. It seems like they weren't huge fans of our entry either, as it they only scored it 3 points.

Persephonia cry their way to #1

Persephonia follow in the footsteps of N DNTN by scoring their debut win after having had 2 runners-up. As Jameela Jamil would say 'isn't it INSANE that in Persephonia's REALLY LONG CAREER that they haven't had a #1 hit until now? :o'

 

Cry For Freedom won with 218 points, 2 more than the runner-up which was Circles, entered by Florina. The song was tipped to win and was on top of the leader board for a large percentage of the votes, but Perspehonia overtaked them at the last vote. It becomes Florina's biggest hit to date and second top 10 hit.

 

Eledan, Trifoski and Jayrusalem finish the top 5, making it a Danaelandan-supported top 5 as we gave points to all of the songs there.

 

Our 12 points easily went to Syndare and it helped them have another top 10 hit. Their entry Make A Stand finishes at #10. Aeroche is one place ahead of them. Hendinia who just missed out on our points finish in 7th.

 

So far it looks like all the songs we voted for did really well. This however is not true. Yehesi were tipped to have a second top 10 hit with Five Hours. However the alliance country could only make #20 this time around. We also gave points to Tartford who finish at #22. This may look bad on the surface but actually it's their highest position to date. Utopia finish last out of 32 entries with Colourblind. It scored 38 points which would have been 32 without Danaelanda's support.

So our 30th entry into the contest comes from duo Jenny Mayhem & The Fuzz Orchestrator. Although it may as well just be Mayhem as The Fuzz Orchestrator's original production has been ditched in favour of the remix version by the mysterious SLO LOV. The song peaked at #2 in the official Danaelandan chart.

Political Relations Update

 

Danaelanda have decided in its effort to stay politically stable with BJSC countries and to ensure promotional visits for our artists to make some alliances. The following countries are on our official alliance list:

 

• Adonia, Republic Of

• Ajanaeda

• Ethanola

• Jamvale

• Yehesi

 

We also have some special relations with the following, where aid will only be sent if they have a national emergency

 

• Aeroche

• FSR Rontvia

• Kluminican Republic

• Persephonia

• Trifoski

 

And on our potential list:

 

• Kathaldazia

• Terra di Campioni

• Ultraviolenceland

 

we haven't actually asked any of these countries about these relations, they have been decided by the Danaelandan Parliament in an effort to decide where to send our national aid and promo. Any country can ask for a relation or lack of.
