Posted June 8, 201114 yr So anyway, I bought Esquire Magazine tonight for the Robbie interview (looks a great magazine btw. Much better than all those daft, airhead women's mags). It's a very long interview and I've only skimmed it. But this part caught my eye 'Rob leans forward from his sofa, stubs out a cigarette  , opens his MacBook and presses play. For a few minutes we sit nodding our heads and tapping our toes. This would be an awkward moment if the track weren't much cop. But 'Candy', a sunny, feel-good pop song with an incredibly catchy hook, sounds like a smash to me. Grinning now, Rob stands up and announces he's just made the best solo album of his career and 'Candy' is to be the first single from it.' :w00t:

They've been buying the men's, arts and gay magazine for ages - they all know where the best interviews are. The likes of Heat and OK are just good for toilet fodder! Kath
June 9, 201114 yr I had no idea Robbie was doing his own solo stuff now :o :D hope this means he will tour on his own :heehee:
June 9, 201114 yr I think Robbie should get back to his solo stuff pronto! I've just heard the songs from Progressed and they are without doubt some of the worst things I've ever listened to. Kath

Kath Kath ...I agree..they are unbelieveably bad .... a big let down after Progess which has some great songs
June 9, 201114 yr Kath ...I agree..they are unbelieveably bad .... a big let down after Progess which has some great songs  I honestly can't believe that on the official site everyone - to a man (or woman) is raving about it. I wanted to like it ... I was hoping for some restoration of hope after (what I still consider, given the alleged combined talents of all, the fairly weak Progress). Progressed is just more rubbish. Take That are really taking the p*** here. They could have made one fairly strong album instead they plump for two fairly weak ones ... because quite obviously their fans will buy anything. I'm quite glad I'm not a fan anymore. Although I must confess I am going to see them on Sunday! For old time's sake! Kath PS - are you DeNiro?
June 9, 201114 yr It better not sound ANYTHING like Paolo Nutini. I hope it's a Mandy Moore cover!! :w00t:

I should have said that I do like 'Love Love' Kath, that is a nice track but the rest are rather weak. I have seen the ad for Progressed on YT & the only new track that features on the ad is LL , not a sign of the others ,....still I guess every other artist does the same things these days in releasing new tracks after the main album so why not Take That .... Wonder how it will do sales wise though. I think you are wrong about Progress , it has some good tracks Kath, I was never into TT's earlier stuff except for a couple of songs. All the lads including Robbie are around a long time Kath, it's hard to keep the hits coming or what are considered hits these days, happens to all artists . The radio stations like the 'youth' & what's 'in' like Hip Hop & American rap & they throw in Adele for good measure to balance things out... just the way it is. I cannot see Robbie having 'big hits' with his solo album either not unless he busts his ass promoting it which I doubt very much unless Gary Barlow goes with him. When it comes to his music Robbie does not seem to enjoy his own company any more so I am not holding my breath waiting for the next 'big hit' -_- No I am not DeNiro  but hail from the same part of the world. Hello to DeNiro if you should pass by ... Robbie has a new album coming out , have you not heard so get your ass back here pronto Edited June 14, 201114 yr by Sacramento

Progress isn't as bad as I first thought it was and I came around quite quickly (to the songs that I liked and still like). And - although I'm not the greatest fan of The Flood - I can see why it was the only song that was single-worthy and at least respect it a bit more now. I still don't think it was worthy of the over the top praise it got from fans and (more bafflingly) the music press. Progressed on the other hand is absolutely dire and nothing that anyone says will make me waiver from that assessment of it. The Mirror has given it 3 out of 5 stars and an 'average' rating ... followed with a 'kerching'! I'd say this is the most accurate review of it so far. Alas on BJ - it appears only you and I see it for the pile of steaming poo it is - so I guess its you and me who are in the wrong. Surely the majority can't be wrong? Kath
June 10, 201114 yr To be honest, I downloaded Progress to see what the fuss was about, and I do think it's a quite bland album. A few tracks were nice enough to have a couple listens more, but that was it. Thought The Wanted's album was superior, but what do I know?...

June 10, 201114 yr Wanted !!! are you serious  TBF though Sacramento ... I'd be wary now about dismissing The Wanted. Even after all their years in the business and the combined talents - Take That have come up with sh/te with Progressed. At least The Wanted have youth as an excuse (I haven't even heard their album so I can't say if its good or not.) Kath

June 12, 201114 yr nice to see kath is spreading the love on other forums as well as the Take That one :P lol interested to hear this new album, guess with Gary writing and producing the album we can expect more Heart and I styled songs which wouldn't be a bad thing at all!
June 13, 201114 yr nice to see kath is spreading the love on other forums as well as the Take That one :P lol interested to hear this new album, guess with Gary writing and producing the album we can expect more Heart and I styled songs which wouldn't be a bad thing at all! I bring good tidings! The concert was very good last night. The highlights for me were Rob's solo set (especially Rock DJ), HUAL (equal best song and performance of the night along with Rock DJ), Take That (5) singing the old Take That stuff and from the Progress era - Kidz was fabulous - a sort of chess-board thing and Love, Love. Surprised they didn't sing Happy Now. The pretty ballerina in Pretty Things was nice but Underground Machine should never have reached the surface - it was without doubt the worst song of the night and goodness knows why they left it in - you could see the audience visibly tuning out during that one. Apart from OM the robot (who still wasn't as good as Nellie on The Circus tour) the Progress bit was the weakest link of the night ... although I did quite like Eight Letters as the finisher (which I didn't think would work as I thought they'd go out with one of their well known biggies).
