This is a 21st century number twos rate using every song that hit number 2 in the 2000s and 2010s. What will happen is there will be 11 rounds, round 1 being 2000, then 2001 etc. up to round 10 which will be 2009. Round 11 will be 2010 and 2011 combined as there are not enough songs from 2011 to have its own round. The top 4 from each round will go straight to the final, and 5th to 7th placed will go in a "wildcard" round. But, to spice things up we will not go in order of the years. Now you know why this isn't round one (I haven't missed it out, but will go back to it later)

The top ten songs from the "wildcard" round will be put into the final round to make a top 54 of the decade. You will vote from 54, but four unlucky songs will miss out on making the top 50 in the results thread. This will be the last rate of the ultimate 'series'.

How you rate the songs; exactly the same as last time, you do not rate every song that hit number two, you just rate your ten favourites and your least favourite. You give +15 points to your favourite song, and the rest are as follows; This is to hopefully stop ties from happening inside the top 3.

+15 Favourite Song

+12 2nd Favourite Song

+10 3rd Favourite Song

+08 4th Favourite

+06 5th Favourite

+05 6th Favourite

+04 7th Favourite

+03 8th Favourite

+02 9th Favourite

+01 10th Favourite

-02 Least Favourite, or Most Hated depending on what way you look at it

These are the songs you need to rate from. You have 2 days for every round to rate. This means the deadline is Friday morning and hopefully the next round will be up by then.

UGH at James and Rihanna getting through. Cudi was so close too :(

36 #2s in 2003  I certainly hope I'll know at least 11 of those... I shall rate after I get home from school

15 Madonna – American Life

12 Electric Six – Danger! High Voltage!

2 Justin Timberlake – Rock Your Body

1 Britney Spears feat Madonna – Me Against the Music

-2 Black Eyed Peas – Shut Up

I had no idea 2003 had so many #2's! Must have been an effect of all of those 3/4 weeker #1's, songs were getting stuck behind...

My top 3 are way ahead;

+15 DJ Sammy – The Boys of Summer Loona's only UK success came with providing vocals for DJ Sammy, this was his second great 80s remake in a row

+12 Girls Aloud – No Good Advice The second indication that this band were something very special indeed

+10 S Club – Say Goodbye/Love Aint Gonna Wait For You *sheds a tear* Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You was crap, so for that reason this will come bottom of a fairly inseperable top 3. Say Goodbye was rather amazing, and coincided to the week with me leaving high school for good which was rather apt. I was gutted to see the back of S Club, the juniors just didn't live up to the brand name...

-----------------------

+8 Dannii Minogue – I Begin to Wonder Dannii - within sniffing distance of #1? *faints* Her 2001-2004 material was great

+6 Rachel Stevens – Sweet Dreams My LA Ex

+5 Dido – White Flag I'm no Dido fan but this was quality

+4 Ultrabeat – Pretty Green Eyes I prefer Feelin' Fine but Ultrabeat were pretty much the only thing going for dance in 2003 tragically

+3 Kelly Rowland – Stole

+2 Lisa Maffia – All Over Liiiii-sa Mafiuhh 'Member I told ya I'm a soldier

+1 Girls Aloud – Jump

-2 Craig David feat Sting – Rise and Fall Absolutely dismal - the same sample was responsible for Sugababes' career low (until they got to Girls)

+15- Justin Timberlake/ Rock Your Body

+12- Electric Six/ Danger! High Voltage!

+10- Girls Aloud/ Jump

+8- Justin Timberlake/ Cry Me A River

+6 Jay-Z ft Beyonce/ 03 Bonnie & Clyde

+5- Jennifer Lopez ft LL Cool J/ All I Have

+4- Ultrabeat/ Pretty Green Eyes

+3- Dannii Minogue/ I Began To Wonder

+2- The Darkness/ Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)

+1- Black Eyed Peas/ Shut Up

-2 The Fast Food Rockers/ Fast Food Song

15. Rachel Stevens – Sweet Dreams My LA Ex (A superb record)

12. Girls Aloud – No Good Advice (not quite "The Show" but the next best thing)

10. Justin Timberlake – Cry Me a River

8. The Darkness – I Believe In a Thing Called Love

6. Kym Marsh – Cry

5. Lemar – Dance (With U)

4. Dido – White Flag

3. Britney Spears feat Madonna – Me Against the Music

2. Dannii Minogue – I Begin to Wonder

1. Ultrabeat – Pretty Green Eyes

-2. Black Eyed Peas – Shut Up (Deeply annoying record- even by their standards)

This game is just showing up how bad the charts have been since the turn of the century, not just for the poor quality of music (so much of it forgettable) but also that songs would get a high chart peak on it's first week then quickly disappear (making them even more forgettable). 36 songs to choose from and only one I would honestly give 8/10 for. Could have so easily given -2 to about 15 of these!!! Had to remind myself of the charts of 2003 to see if it was just a case of spectacularly bad No.2's but no it appears that 2003 is possibly a contender for worst year in chart music ever. (All IMO obviously ;) )

+15 Justin Timberlake – Cry Me a River Great song, was pleasantly surprised at the quality of his debut album

+12 Rachel Stevens – Sweet Dreams My LA Ex Decent pop song, another good Cathy Dennis composition. Gorgeous, gorgeous Rachel

+10 Justin Timberlake – Rock Your Body Kept off the top by the criminally bad 'Ignition'

+8 Girls Aloud – No Good Advice Ditto as above

+6 Kevin Lyttle – Turn Me On

+5 The Darkness – I Believe In a Thing Called Love

+4 Electric Six – Danger! High Voltage!

+3 The Darkness – Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)

+2 Mis-teeq – Scandalous

+1 Black Eyed Peas – Shut Up

-2 Britney Spears feat Madonna – Me Against the Music Vile, abomination......the very worst of an horrific bunch

The other nominations for the -2 award were:

Jay-Z feat. Beyonce – 03 Bonnie & Clyde - really don't get it!!!

Kelly Rowland – Stole - so, so dull and forgettable

DJ Sammy – The Boys of Summer - criminally bad cover version of a classic

Jennifer Lopez feat LL Cool J – All I Have - what?

Madonna – American Life - Madge during the worst period of her career 2000-2003 (Hollywood was bearable), at least this is not as bad as American Pie!

Lisa Maffia – All Over - again......what?

Big Brovaz – Favourite Things - really? Who the hell bought this? :puke2:

Fast Food Rockers – Fast Food Song - says something that this is more bearable than the other nominations for the -2

Lumidee – Never Leave You (Uh Oooh Uh Oooh) - how the hell did this make the top 40, never mind No.2?

Beyonce feat. Sean Paul – Baby Boy - still don't get it! Overrated featuring How did you get away with it more than once?

Blazin’ Squad – Flip Reverse - How did the get a recording contract? Someone on the youtube clip claims one of them now works in McDonalds.........says it all.

Shane Ritchie – I’m Your Man - It was for charity I suppose, but didn't like the original either.

With special mentions also for Blue 'Guilty' which was very boring, and Benny Benassi 'Satisfaction' which is only memorable for the video.

Big Brovaz – Favourite Things - really? Who the hell bought this? :puke2:

I did!! Sorry!

And even more shamefully, I still LOVE it 8 years later.

Anyway, 2003 was a good year for me chart-wise in general, but there's a lot of rubbish here! Although I guess with 36 #2s more crap is always going to sift through compared to if there was, say, half that number. I still love you, 2003.

+15 Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage  The better of the two camp rock bands listed here as far as I'm concerned. Their fall into oblivion was far more rapid than The Darkness! They still exist today, if anyone's wondering, putting out albums to a niché fanbase. Love it, but nothing else they did was quite as good...

+12 Kelly Rowland - Stole I was obsessed with this at the time, was gutted when t.A.T.u. beat it to #1...

+10 Girls Aloud - No Good Advice Meanwhile, this I thought was completely crap compared to SOTU (which I bought on its first day out), but it grew on me like fungus! Now I have no idea why I didn't love it at first - strange!

+8 Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body A great funky little pop song! Cry Me A River usually gets more attention but this is better for me (although both are great)

+6 Sinéad Quinn - I Can't Break Down

+5 Big Brovaz - Favourite Things

+4 Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex

+3 Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River

+2 Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder

+1 Dido - White Flag

-2 Fast Food Rockers - Fast Food Song

God 2003 was awful :( The only good things were the rise of Delta Goodrem, Avril and Evanescence :kink: And where are they all now?

+15 Kelly Rowland - Stole

+12 Girls Aloud - No Good Advice [One of their best easily]

+10 Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River

+08 Dido - White Flag

+06 Sinead Quinn - I Can't Break Down [One of the best albums of the year bless her flop-socks]

+05 Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder

+04 Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex

+03 Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes [shame on them for raping 'Use Somebody' a while back]

+02 Busted - Year 3000

+01 S Club - Say Goodbye [Naff song but for nostalgic purposes. I loved them muchly]

-02 Beyonce & Sean Paul - Baby Boy [MANY awful songs this year, but I found this to be ear rape and Sean Paul overload bugged the hell out of me. He was like the 2003/2004 version of Pitbull only 1,000 times worse *shudders*]

I also wanted to give points to the BEPs but bleh.

15. Girls Aloud – No Good Advice

12. Justin Timberlake – Cry Me a River

10. Electric Six – Danger! High Voltage!

8. The Darkness – I Believe In a Thing Called Love

3. Lumidee – Never Leave You (Uh Oooh Uh Oooh)

2. Dannii Minogue – I Begin to Wonder

1. Britney Spears feat Madonna – Me Against the Music

-2. DJ Sammy – The Boys of Summer - I can't stand 'Heaven' but I could just about tolerate it once, never again though.

Holy crap!!! Loads of number twos! :o

I'll rate when I get back from school.

Edited by Griffo

Oh go on...if just to try to send Electric 6 through and to stop Ultrabeat...I really don't like the majority of these though, I'd give virtually all of them minus points.

Electric Six = nu-Beetlebum! :D

I hope to God it does go through. Would be the most pleasant surprise in any of the games for me so far. Surely the total needed to go through would be much lower in this round due to the sheer number of choices available too?
