U2 Named World’s Richest Musicians

U2 have been named the highest paid musicians by Forbes Magazine.

 

Bono and co. made $195m in the last year alone, largely thanks to their 360 Degree tour, which recently became the highest-grossing tour of all time.

 

The Forbes Highest Paid Musicians list has Bon Jovi in second place, with earnings of $125m in the last 12 months. Elton John is $20m behind in third place.

 

Lady GaGa is fourth with earnings of $90m, thanks to her sell-out Monster Ball tour and back-to-back albums. Her tour actually made more than Bon Jovi’s recent outing, but the cost of her elaborate sets and costumes pushed her down the list. Michael Bublé rounds out the top five with earnings of $70m.

 

Justin Bieber was by far the youngest star to make the Forbes list, raking in $53m from his tour, album and Never Say Never documentary.

 

Other notable artists include Usher in 12th place with $46m and Katy Perry at 14th with $44m. Jay-Z and Beyoncé both made the top 25, the only couple to do so. Jay ranked 17th with earnings of $37m, while his wife was one place lower with $35m, despite not touring or releasing an album in the last year.

 

The calculations are based on pre-tax earnings for the year ending May 2011.
